After not being able to procure a 5900x to replace my 3900x, decide to F all and just get a 5600x bundle. At least I got the mobo I wanted (X570 Tomahawk).

Question to other 5000-series users.. Have you been able to get Prime95 to work? It's failing/stopping on me within 2/3 seconds. Latest version.

Aida64 as well, stability/stress test fails about 5~10 seconds in. Then again my Aida is a May 2019 build. Anyone with a recent Aida can confirm if it works fine? Memory benchmark fails at L3 cache too.

You're using your ram on the 3600 profile?

It really was MSI's AXMP.

At disabled - 2133

No issues - Prime95 no error 10 mins in, Aida64 stability test no warning 10 mins in.

I'm trying to get some manual values from Ryzen DRAM calc to input.
*
good I was right up there then.

and no ryzen calc won't fix this as this is no ram issue.

this is an imc/fclk issue.
and that's across all boards and platforms.
worse on some better on others.

run it on the second 3200 xmp profile and you *should* be fine until AMD fixes their terrible AGESA.

run it on the second 3200 xmp profile ? Where do I find this ? haha.. I only see 2 AXMP profiles in the bios, Profile 1 and 2 and both are identical (18-22-22-42 timings for 3600).
*
yup follow what targon said, load XMP and then set to 3200MHz manually.

raydenex why don't you just keep your 4x8GB sticks until Agesa 1.1.0.0 D is coming out in early Q1 2021 (some betas probably by late this month)?
That would almost certainly fix your issues. So technically no need to upgrade.

The above Kingston kit will run at 18-21-21 once you slot it in. Fine if cheap.

If others happen to be hunting for non RGB kits with some OC headroom... I got two fresh 32GB (2x16GB) kits in which will be for sale starting this weekend.

Earlier I said Agesa 1.1.0.0 D betas out late this month biggrin.gif
Proven wrong already.

ASRock just now released beta versions already.

Fingers crossed others will follow soon then.

QUOTE(raydenex @ Dec 2 2020, 03:04 PM)
Roger that. Oh why would it default to c18 instead of 17? Btw the kit above is actually on the mb's QVL list as opposed to my corsairs.
Gear Down Mode is on per default (and that's a good thing for stability) and just works with even numers. Hence 16 - 18 - ...
Don't give much about QVL, as I said up there just wait for BIOS updates while running at lower frequency until it's released.

My newly gotten 5600x with previous gskill ripjaws 2800mhz ram stable with xmp mode. Gotten a pair of 3600mhz ram as well, still stable, tried oc till 4000mhz also stable.

The only issue I'm facing is that my Logitech g305 wireless mouse somehow is facing random and frequent disconnection issues, however a quick Google search reveals its a common issue for that mouse but it only happened to me after I've changed to Amd.
*
Wanna bet that issue is gone if you drop fclk? 😉

If you're lucky disabling c-states will do.

Oh n share your memory oc results with some stability tests.

What does c state do?
*
supposedly managing low power/idle states.
in fact sometimes creating issues (even back on zen2 sometimes) but it got worse with zen3.
so for some people around disabling that will help. similar stuff with the df c states.

didn't follow , can u pls explain how an cpu boosts is an issue. thanks.

for the high idle voltages that users keep talking about is not an issue for zen2 ...
if any chance that specific mobo do sth wrong? and cause dissasters ,I guess we should blame the mobo. and pls report the issue to them.
I don't know about zen3 , so far.

for ram instability, I guess u have to ensure your ram is in mobo QVL list, if it was in the list and not stable, then we should blame the mobo maker as well.
if the ram not in the list, I'm afraid u r at your own risk.

let me get in at that point.

1)
zen2 has quite some clock stretching issues. the effective clock (unlike intel) is sometimes way lower than the displayed one.
early samples were also on the edge of reaching advertised clock speeds and only did so on the lightest of all loads.

2)
it's not about high idle voltages, it's about responsiveness vs energy saving. and this took them a year to properly fix on zen2.
if you wanted less agressive boosts for loads that simply didn't require it there was no other way than to use 3rd party power plants.

3)
just that this is not the problem with 95% of ram issues on zen3. it's simply a symptom caused by a shitty agesa.

euhm default TJMax is 95°C... this system would have shut down before u'd see these temps as they are not even hotspot ones.

and no thats not normal for a 5600x. I think either you changed settings in your bios or you use tools that (un)knowingly changed them.

it’s possible for log spikes as it was his max recorded, not current/average. I had a friend who was using an nzxt with stock cooler. The cpu is baking inside with the fans already maxed.... so when a sudden boost occur, it will hit 100+ but goes back down immediately.

5600x is 60A tdc though. check his photo.

what is this 60A ????

Be a bit more precise about what you run when you see those temperatures, also take your screenshots with "windows key + Shift + S" and make sure everything is on it.

Basically to me it seemed you might have had PBO enabled and possibly even temperature thresholds changed

What I meant by 60A (TDC not EDC as initially written):
Basically a 5600x being a 65W rated CPU has following limits ... 88W PPT, 60A TDC, 90A EDC.
So on second view those seem to be correct (max 56.509A TDC & 89.101 EDC) on your photo despite the left column being cut off.

I am using AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, with Gigabyte X570 AORUS Elite WIFI MB. Memory is HyperX FURY DDR4 RGB and I also facing random crash previously when I put my system idle. I know something is happen as my Edge browser open tab is crash. I did not overclock my system except the RAM XMP is on.

So far it is ok now after update / do following.

  • Bios update, now in latest F31o
  • Disable Fast reboot (I don't see the needs as I cannot feel the differences at all in this new machine, probably already too fast to notice).
  • EasyTune app update, I think this had nothing to do with the crash but at least now this is working, in previous version I cannot open as it keep showing my CPU is not support overclock. lol. I just want all apps able to open, I did not use it capability of overclock. Haha!
  • RGBFusion app update, finally the RAM RGB is function in proper when XMP is enable.
  • Disable Internal onboard Sound - I not sure this onboard sound is one of the culprit or not, but I do face before the system crash and restart when I set monitor auto sleep. Now using SoundBlaster AE-9 and never face this issue anymore. I not plan to enable back to test as I no need it anymore.
I think Gigabyte apps is quite buggy and it did not solved it before release a new product (not so new also that motherboard) to market.

Go disable C-States in your BIOS to prevent specific idle states of your CPU.
Fast Reboot and Internal Sound you can enable back, these are just symptoms. Easy Tune I would not use but that's up to you.

If you still have crashes in idle after C-States are disabled use this: https://zentimings.protonrom.com/ and post a screenshot here.

anyone got comparison of 3600mhz CL 14 vs CL 16? G.SKILL TRIDENT Z NEO3600MHZCL14 ( 16GBx2pcs )
the different  is worth the $$ (SGD515 vs SGD 335) - 16gb x 2.

can't find direct review comparison of these both kits.
*
firstly u could buy the 3200c14 kit as cstkl suggested.
secondly 3800c16>>>3733c16>>>3666c16>>3600c14>3600c16
thirdly and to your question, primaries on ryzen don't matter much at all. the differences between 3600c14 vs. c16 are so marginal you barely can see them in benches. much more worthy to adjust secondary n tertiary timings.

also b-dies are no must. a good micron rev e kit is a good deal cheaper n softer on the IC.

just as a few posts earlier, go for 3200Mhz CL14 and overclock. Dont bother with that ram because very likely, the xmp wont work, and ryzen dont like loose timings.
*
even 3200c14 a waste of money if you don't oc properly

Andrewtst sorry to disappoint you but lowering tRC surely wasn't the culprit. more likely a setting tied to XMP itself. But as it is working now, be happy laugh.gif

Dark hero 1999 what a steal. Instant buy
Only x570 unify and dark hero in this list I consider.

The others are pure garbage, non future proof after 4 to 5 years.

funny to call a RM2k board that will perform just as well with a 5600x as a b550 board costing 1/4th a 'steal'.
at least without the potential user requesting any of its features laugh.gif

If the 3800C14 B-die kits are too pricey for you ... you can get a kit of 32GB(16x2) Klevv Bolt XR.

I got one for RM550 which I received yesterday. Right now cheapest price I found is 599@Lazada.

Those are dual rank Hynix DJR kits. Very similar in performance numbers compared to Micron Rev. E.

If you guys like I can share some OC experiences with it.
