Don't use the brakes going down hill. My father once decend down a 40 degree ramp(carpark ramp) and his feet wasn't even slightly tapping the brakes. He lets the engine do the job fully. The car was at a constant speed going down and no brakes were applied. He just puts his foot on the brake in case of an emergency.

You can go to Genting with this I believe. My family made a trip to Frasers hill(close enough to genting? Forgot already.  tongue.gif  ), no probs going down or up the one way hill road.

how to do engine braking if the car is auto ya? hehe, noob in auto cars la. anyways, my uncle has been working in genting for almost 30years already. so i think there shouldn't be any problem with his driving since he drives down the hill every fortnight.

I second that!

I noticed one thing about Myvi hehe. I was in the showroom and I was trying to test the front suspension. So, I press the part of the body on top of the front wheel with my fist. To my surprise, it dented in and came back out, like plastic!!! No Joke!!! Go check it out.

The main reason to apply low gears during a steep descent from a hill is to prevent your brakes from failing from overheating.

I can't believe some of you don't even know this. Did you not learn this in your driving schools?

When you drive down from Genting or Frasers or wherever, don't be a smart alec and go down with your gears disengaged and brakes only. There is a high chance that your brakes will fail from overheating. Please don't be an ignorant hero or you might end up ramming into other cars or even drive off a cliff.

i came down from genting using gear 1 and 2 only......
and some slight tapping of brakes if i feel i am going too fast...

my average speed coming down from genting, a whooping 30-40 km/h

call me gay or p_ussy, but i value my life and my passenger's life

Just use L, or D2. I'm not saing that your uncle should leave the brakes out completely, it just that if he uses engine braking, he'll find that he doesn't have to use his brakes as much. Or if the slope is short enough, he won't have to use it at all!! But it depends on the driver's feel.

Honda City is like that too. It's more pedestrian-friendly, and also serves as a crumple zone to absorb the impact of a hit so that less would be transferred to the passenger cabin. On the other hand, I have no idea how good the cabin integrity of Myvi is.

Close to one year with my 1.3l manual Myvi, so far so good.

FC --> beats the crap out of my previous 1.5l 5 years old second-hand manual Wira (duh..)
420km from full tank to the start of the blinking fuel LED for only RM58 (usual grade, RM1.98 per litre ?) compared to 370km for slightly above RM60
No mods applied except for a pair of white light bulbs and a pair of side lamp signals.

Brakes --> still working great since i am using manual, less burden on it as i utilize my gears (i prefer a gear failure rather than a brake failure). The ABS of this car saved my life once during a heavy downpour when some smart-alec cut across the junction without stopping after flashing him a couple of times.
But i suppose nowadays most of the cars have ABS installed already ?

Also this car is roomy, pretty good for tall people, like me. A six-footer can fit in fine without having to strain your neck whether you're sitting in the front seats or rear seats. This was a common problem i faced when i sat at the rear seats of my friend's Vios and Savvy or my own previous Wira.

But this is a bit high, so do expect some body-roll while handling corners. I had to take some time to adjust from my previous Wira. blush.gif

I am not some super Myvi or Perodua defender, just stating my personal experience with my car. I would prefer the car which i am using as my nickname or any other car from THAT manufacturer but what to do, stupid existance of Proton made it unaffordable based on my budget. blush.gif

Well all cars are like tin milo now. You can even press a Merc chassis, even Savvy one. Gone are the old days of metal bumpers and thick heavy body. The only stupid thing is, in this current era, they should give it a MP3/CD player.

Do you there is the existence of the over drive button ? Even driving on north south highway during the ipoh slope , I will always off the overdrive so that it won't engaged to the forth gear. It just work like manual , it won't change to higher gear. I do hope u get what I meant

FC On the highway is really good. Only one bar goes down for every 100km+ but during city drive the FC is pretty bad. I put down my heavy foot sometimes and I get an average of 300-400km on a full tank.

Yeah I also notice the car's body is soft but like Dannyl said, its for the ppl u hit when u drive haha. No doubt the new CIvic is awesome. I test drove one back a while ago and its solid built but the FC is quite bad. I did considered a 2nd hand City or Vios but after consulting with a 2nd hand dealer n with colleagues that are good at cars; they said I'm better off with a new car with 2 + 2 warranty. WIll go for cars like Accord on my next car run haha but in the meantime Myvi suits my needs well for the many years to come. Dun wanna attract thief's to my car if I drove some big car.

SO far my car does not delevop any other probs since the 1st service. Before I went to service I got some noise from the front and my driver power window does not go up properly but after the service, voila it runs like a new car lol. The SC merely tighten the bolts n nuts at all the joints under n in front of the car and spray on the side of the window and it runs ok.

Don't underestimate Malaysia made cars. because even after decades, people still talk about them.

Talking about 2nd jap cars, try to look at those advertised in Motortrader mag. Those Toyota Corollas look like nobody want. I've seen the same old SEG advertised for >1yr, still there, and ironically, still the same old price. Rm30k+ for a 10yr old car... rediculous. You can get a brand new one with that price.

now i understand the meaning of using low gear le... but using low gear means the gas will oso habis quickly rite since the engine rev so high... and for the MT, we have to use clutch to control the car from being jerk so much...

i dono who the hell this jerk talking bout craps on myvi and recommend 2nd hand jap cars... but u have step the tails of myvi owners... every car has its own issue, pros and cons... this is juz a norm to speak about cars... so even if we talk bout myvi, which might last for years or not... its totally none of ur stupid hell business!!! yawn.gif
