QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 22 2017, 10:27 PM) That was previously. Now they have stopped doing it and I received SMS to ask me to go to that website to register. Yupp. That's the only notification I have. That's email. I meant after it confirms your free upgrade, it does show a date if I'm not mistaken. The free speed upgrade will be implemented in stages from January to June 2017 depending on your location subject to technical rediness. No other notification in my mailbox from them. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 23 2017, 12:13 AM) yeah I second that, Keeping ARP increase or maintain is their goal now. part from the program happy, part from them half happy, part from them not happy at all. they don't give a damn. |

Wondering in my head on this ....
How much spare capacity has TM got in their current Unifi system? More than 50% spare capacity? ~ 10% spare capacity? Asking as with the free upgrade, will that be beneficial to Unifi users, as if it is only 10% spare capacity, then we will all be fighting each other when we go online. If with lots of spare capacity, then we gain from the upgrade. |

If with lots of spare capacity, then we gain from the upgrade. They got no spare capacity, in fact just like every other broadband provider they oversell.Which is fine, because whether you get 5MB or 100MB line, your usage pattern still likely similar. No-one uses the full speed all of the time. |

QUOTE(plumberly @ Jan 23 2017, 08:57 AM) Wondering in my head on this .... They should have more than sufficient bandwidth to cope. Even at 100Mbps it is still relative low bandwidth for today standard. Most importantly, despite the upgrade of bandwidth, more than 80% of users are still casual users which they do not do heavy download 24x7. So overall the bandwidth will have no prob to cope for all users even all are online at least the same time. Worst case scenario they can easily throttle the bandwidth for torrent to cap the download speed. yesterday downloading from apple servers super slow. usually can solve with VPN but after trying a few VPN locations, only slightly better. App store and itunes software download affected. speed test is ok, ~28M.

Hi all,
I'm living in a condo which was done (VP) by 2014. The only option i have is VDSL2 installation (copper wiring & MDF room). the technician said that I can't be upgraded to 50mbps (currently subscribed for Uni Andv 30mbps) due to the condo doesn't have fibre optics connections. I'm devastated as I do not get to enjoy any privileges (T_T). Has anyone opt for pulling fibre wires for their own condo units? i do know that the charges are exorbitantly expensive. thank you. |
