Inherited diabetic are considered type 1

Type 2 are what you eat overdose. Hari hari manyak nasi Gula teh tarik nasi lemak sumua sugar

I drink kopi with honey instead of Gula
I makan masak no garam

a few days ago doctor say i am diabetic.
i am not shocked, because my family are diabetic.
my mum was diabetic when pregnant with me. - is it true because of this my chances of being diabetic is higher?
doctor say my sugar is very high. like super high. now go down already but still in 11 to 14 range.

at first when he found out high sugar, first few days he keep on inject insulin when my sugar is higher than 14.
so now no more insulin because below 14. so he gave me 850mg metformin 2 times a day for 2 weeks. then 3 times a day for like 2 to 3 months.

i know what i am getting into and well aware what is going to happen.
but i want to understand what is going on with my body right now. i read here and there but i cannot understand a few issues.

i am supposed to be type 2 diabetis. the doctor didn't explain much. asked the diabetic nurse to coach me.
she say because i whacked too much sugar, so now my pancreas is damaged. cannot produce insulin. so need to cut sugar and eat medicine.

i don't understand, so now is my pancreas damaged and cannot produce as much insulin or am i insulin resistant like what they wrote in medical website?
or cannot determine whether my pancreas is doing fine or just that my cells becoming insulin resistant? you just can't tell?

why am i prescribed metformin? what does it really do? from what i can recall it is supposed to make my cells more sensitive towards insulin and make me produce less excess insulin into my blood stream? i need an answer.

why do they need to treat me like a chronic patient?
"unfortunately, you have to live with it now"
"there's no cure, it is a chronic disease, but you still can control it with healthy lifestyle"

now the problem now is, that metformin is giving me terrible diarrhea.
it happens for a few days already. yesterday no pass motion. i don't know why, but today..

i shit in my pants on my way to work. i cannot control my bowel movements at all. when i need to go, i cannot tahan.
i take public transport to work. i already reached office today but took a cab back home because i shit in my pants.

this week i shit in my pants for 5th time already. now i am having problem getting to work.
i am thinking to quit my job now due to long travelling distance in the morning.

before i take this metformin, i don't feel sick at all. i can run and jump. but this medicine is making me sick and taking a lot of MC this week.
please share your experience with me because i am getting depressed right now.

seriously considering quitting my job and wear adult diapers.

Eh just because you pee and a lot of ant come, doesn't mean you are diabetic, ok?

But yah the HUKM test is the one that proves it.

Your family are diabetic because your family eat the same food . If you want to heal your diabetes , you must change your lifestyle . Stop eating process food like roti canai , fried animal products like KFC , soda , french fries , cookies etc . Try drinking lots of plain water regularly . Diabetes is dangerous because it effects 3 things , your vision , your kidney and your limbs like your legs . There are many doctors who are experts in diabetes and one of the best is Dr Neal Barnard . You can watch many of his diabetes videos in Youtube . I also have a friend who's having diabetes but he just refused changing his diet . Nothing much I can do for people who don't want to change .

Dr Barnard method is simple . Stop eating all animal products like meat , fish , chicken , eggs , milk and cheese .

I am male 28, with family history of diabetes. Purchased strip set & do self diagnose, seems my sugar still healthy mol level.

But my underarm & neck darkened. It called africanus symptoms. Curious if this suggested pre-diabetes.

I wouldn't know lah.

You need to go see GP and get tested. Please don't rely on YouTube Doctors.

And please don't rely on Youtube like some people suggested here, you may use those infos as a bit of help, but never rely on it, keep seeing doctors. And see different doctors if you are not satisfied with what they tell you, doctors are human too you know, they don't know everything and some don't have that much experience. But doctors will help you all they can with what they know, hell theyve gone through hellish years in medical school so don't give up on doctor's opinion yaa

Hi TS.
I couldn't exactly help on giving medical advices on diabetes.

However on shitting your pants, we all have diarrhea experience.
Why not consider bringing extra pants and underwear and change in the office.

Will you have financial problem after quitting your job?
After quitting, what do u plan to do? Find job after all this thing getting better?
Will this affect your next job interview and chance of landing the job?
"Why did you stop work for.. 1 year and decide to work for our firm?"
Telling the truth u have a diabetic problem may affect he interviewer impression. (Or we have to disclose any medical condition anyway?)

Sorry this is a materialistic world and u have to deal with it.
Be strong,

During my job briefing, there is a medical session with a doctor. Yes the doctor said if you inherit disease from ancestor is very high chance you will get it like diabetes, high blood pressure this is due your chromosome is from your parent and it increase 2x chance to get the disease. Same goes to your son. You may refer doctor for advice.

For diabetes, you need to straight cut down sugar intake. Half of your playe should be vegetable now and eat white meat (chicken, fish).

For rice, the doctor really reccommend to go for brown rice even it tastes sucks.

I'm a diabetic at age 33. It has been 7yrs now.

To answer some of your question.

Type 2 - You are able to induce natural insulin from your pancreas with medication.
Type 1 - pancreas totally gone and you need to inject insulin daily.

metformin is a drug to induce (force produce) natural insulin from your pancreas. You intolerant to metformin probably due to substandard med prescribed by the doc. Buy metformin from Glucophage. This is the original manufacturer. If that does not work, ask the doc about diamicron.

Facts. You will be taking this until your pancreas eventually fails. Then you need to start taking insulin jabs. If you don't control your sugar level, your kidney will eventually fail and you will have to undergo dialysis every other day. With proper control (damn f**king hard I tell you), you will have a long normal life.

I'm surfering from diabetes for the past 30yrs. I was diagnosed at the age of 18.

At 1st by struct no sugar diet & exercise, I managed to control my sugar level up to 6-7mmol. However as yrs passby, I hv to depend on medications such as metformin & combi of diamicron.

However for the past 1 decade, medication also failed to control my level which hv since went up to avg 11-12mmol fasting. By this time, my Doc suggested me to switch to insulin (every meals & 1 b4 sleep) + 750mgx2 metformin daily. Now I'm under controlled for the past 8yrs.

When I asked the doc why she maintained the 750mgx2 metformin, she told me recent tesearch showing anti-cancer property on metformin.

So metformin eventhough having bad lousai effect, will benefit in long run. Me too can't torelate higher than 1500mg of metformin/day. & surely loudai if too much but do discuss with ur doctor to reduce the intake and combine wth another drug or even better, start on insulin.

Do read this metfomin -possible anti-cancer agent article
