My rMBP again suffers from "Staingate" issue on the screen sad.gif

[attachmentid=8922020][attachmentid=8922021]

Already made a previous claim last year and changed the whole screen, now seem to happen again. Dunno whether this time can claim again or not

2015.

I think the newer 2016 and 2017 mbp does not suffer from this.

My 2016 model is slowing down recently . Sad

Apple updates MacBook Pro 2017 merely 8 months after 2016 released. 2016 mbp owners kind of get screwed comparing to the owner of 2017 who is paying about the same or slightly higher but getting about 25% improvement with the kabe lake chip.

Yes, correct. Slightly more expensive but this is due to the currency exchange. In terms of USD, it is exactly same price.

True. But the 2016 MBP is the first to get the newest design. Mine is the 2015 version, it is probably the longest version before a refreshed. Speed isn't much of a concern for me but the design dates back to 2012.

Unless the 2017 version has a real advertised as it is battery then the 2016 is really screwed.

The 2015 rMbp is actually good. Design is nice. Especially with the glowing Apple logo. It is quite a good collection item now. tongue.gif

Dun have. 2016 redesigned everything. 2017 is exactly same design as 2016 except speed bump.

Early 2015 and mid 2015 retina MacBook Pro are the only last design laptops before redesign.

Just went to QCD and manage to claim warranty for the screen.
Apparently the program only covers up to 3 years from date of purchase. Mine already 2.5 years brows.gif

Hi all, does anyone know where to buy the screen protector for the new Macbook Pro 13 inch model? I am currently waiting the hard sheel case from apple which it takes 2-3 weeks times to delivery. But there is no screen protector available in apple store.

Touch Bar or to forgo the Touch Bar?

But the model with Touch Bar comes with higher specs too.

Previously bought a Macbook Air (because I heard the buzz about Apple doesn't lag) and it lagged badly for me (mainly on 20-30 tabs using Chrome) doing research. Sold it and planning to go for Macbook Pro.

Yup. Spec wise is certainly better, not to forget the 4 USB-c port even u do not use the touchbar.

Unfortunately Chrome takes up a lot of memory and having 20-30 chrome tabs open means that 4-8Gb or RAM isn't cutting it. Would advise you to spec your MBP with 16Gb of RAM.

Coming from a Windows user's perspective, I usually only use one port for wireless mouse (which i probably don't when I was using my Macbook Air previously).
What are the more common usage for the ports? Maybe I might need to plug a portable harddisk but that ratherly occurs.

Just want to know if 4 ports are really important.

For new and unmodified Macbook Pro, only the 15" will come with 16GB RAM, which is too big to my liking. I prefer the 13" size for portability.
I think the 8GB RAM might be just good enough (also due to lack of other options).

On my Windows laptop, I use up to 7GB (I have 16GB) during heavy usage.
Next to each other, assuming using the same programs/apps, is the Windows 10 more efficient or Macbook Pro?

4 ports depending on individual. but 4 ports compare to 2 ports are definitely going to be future proof. especially it allows to 'drive' more external monitors than 2 ports.

in the end, everyone has different needs, so it drilled down to how much one needs, and only one will know.
