Probably mid-January, is it? Can't wait until July 2017 for new spectrum reallocation to take place. That will essentially put UMOBILE on a level playing field with the BIG 3.

Not good. Others are coming in closely already. So if UMobile doesn't rethink its strategy, then they will lose out ultimately.

So only registration of new plan/number/port in got commission? Is UMOBILE being too comfortable with their position as the 4th largest telco?

they are like focus on postpaid more than prepaid now, since prepaid calling is the least demanded ( normally data / sms like umi 30, credit transfer, long term validity ...) increase of the rate should be still ok since digi/ maxis /celcom still far more expensive than umobile 1

prepaid convert to postpaid also got

postpaid ported out to other telco and port back within 6months also 0 commission,
they are planning to make profit to get listed after few years trial d,
cutting benefit from dealers bottom of the pyramid and support premier dealers for Phone bundle plan, subsidy to start more premier shop like Digi specialized store or maxis exclusive partner rather than normal phone shop / mini market....

Of course. Postpaid is where all the money is coming from. For postpaid customers, you use or dont use, you have already commited to the monthly commitment which you have signed up for.

base on the statistic, postpaid users are less likely to switch telco like prepaid, subscribe more data (booster), purchase more apps and in-apps purchase (google play) and more roaming charge

while prepaid users are more cost productive, and hardly giving more offer / promotion to them since there is no commitment, lack of address or more personal data during their first registration in old time ( now registering prepaid also have to provide full detail , but still not a common practise for most dealers )

telco like postpaid and prepaid customers, but two different behavior smile.gif

good to lock customers with postpaid, monthly recurring income and sometime more with vas/voice/sms/etc usages. problem: revenue is delayed. billed invoice is not considered revenue until customer pays them. then only the payment is captured as revenue. a lot of ppl not paying bills is not good for telco's cashflow.

prepaid has higher sub base. still 80:20 ratio or already lesser 75:25? still, more sub base means more faster revenue. why faster revenue? sub top-up already considered revenue. fast and easy money. however, this soon to be changed with new MFRS15 whereby unusued credit should not be considered revenue, even for postpaid topup. that's why even GST may take this approach by going with usage-based GST (you use how much, GST is applied to that usage, and revenue is recognized from that usage). buying more top-up will not be considered direct revenue. good for telco because they dont need to keep chasing you to pay bills! LOL~ you dont top-up, your number/prepaid expired. so, prepaid subs keep topping up just to keep the line alive. very tedious to maintain, better go for postpaid, some might say.

Postpaid Invoice billed not consider revenue?
I thought revenue recognition stated that, revenue recognized upon services rendered or goods delivered? When was this standard changed?

upon servcies rendered or delivered, is charged/billed. from accounting, still cannot recognize it as revenue. it's unearned revenue.
