Prices of both iPhone models released by Steve Jobs during the Keynote, 499$ for the 4GB model and 599$ for the 8GB model, could be the price for the subscription-free device. When signing up for 2 years with Cingular, iPhone models would then be available for 299$ and 399$ respectively. This information remains a rumor, and one could also question it as such price would cannibalize iPod sales. But maybe it is the goal...

phone hackers in LYP/Sg Wang? are you sure? they use program/hack/services provided by developer/hacker originate from europe/Russia, not that they do it themselves.
i agreed with allvin this time. most probably it will be contracted/branded/locked to some telco in uk. most probably vodafone as always. not 100% sure yet but i stay in uk, hence that is my speculation. somemore, there is rumour going around that apple had already started to look for telco for the iphone in europe now.

so if it is branded/locked and contracted to some network, it really need time to crack and unlock it. and as always, apple stuff is not that easy to be cracked and it is the first phone by apple, no previous experience on apple phone by those hacker/developer etc, it gonna be long. and by the time it can be unlocked (maybe), iphone has reached asia for long. (e.g. most nokia bb5 platform, cant be unlocked yet until now)

yep, most of the time it will be with contract. The unlocked phone there seems to have higher price than normal.
But just take O2 line, their phones accept any sims

Do u know that ipod and iphone is not that same? Even apple has worldwide warranty, once iphone is unlocked (illegally i assume), it will sure void warranty and you need go other shop to fix it or what. And iphone is the first phone made by apple. So it will be troublesome.

The way i look at apple's point of view, iphone need to be with contracted. Apple will gain some of the shares(profit again) from those network operators and the iphone can sell at much lower price. If without contract, apple won't gain that share profit and i don't think it can sell at that low price 

this would be a phone to get without 3g.
especially all in one 8gig wide screen ipod.

anyway a good strategy for apple, first with ipod ppl get mac, now with iphone more ppl will get mac
