some info from hardmac QUOTE Prices of both iPhone models released by Steve Jobs during the Keynote, 499$ for the 4GB model and 599$ for the 8GB model, could be the price for the subscription-free device. When signing up for 2 years with Cingular, iPhone models would then be available for 299$ and 399$ respectively. This information remains a rumor, and one could also question it as such price would cannibalize iPod sales. But maybe it is the goal... hope the rumor became real/fact. then we will have cheaper iphone.

QUOTE(youngkies @ Feb 22 2007, 02:29 AM) phone hackers in LYP/Sg Wang? are you sure? they use program/hack/services provided by developer/hacker originate from europe/Russia, not that they do it themselves. i agreed with allvin this time. most probably it will be contracted/branded/locked to some telco in uk. most probably vodafone as always. not 100% sure yet but i stay in uk, hence that is my speculation. somemore, there is rumour going around that apple had already started to look for telco for the iphone in europe now. so if it is branded/locked and contracted to some network, it really need time to crack and unlock it. and as always, apple stuff is not that easy to be cracked and it is the first phone by apple, no previous experience on apple phone by those hacker/developer etc, it gonna be long. and by the time it can be unlocked (maybe), iphone has reached asia for long. (e.g. most nokia bb5 platform, cant be unlocked yet until now) UK + europe more fun.. haha! topgear season 9 episode 2, top tips no. 2 - don't go to america.. ahah! yep, most of the time it will be with contract. The unlocked phone there seems to have higher price than normal. But just take O2 line, their phones accept any sims

But just take O2 line, their phones accept any sims contract phone doesnt have to be locked to any network. with contract, you can get a lot of phones for free. but for sim/contract free phone, unlocked set is more expensive than branded or locked phone. not all o2 phones are unlocked. o2 xda and pda phones for examples are locked, doesnt accept any sim unless unlocked. well just think about it. O2 mini costs around RM2.3k while iPhone will be around RM2.1k so why complain when you get so many features in 1

QUOTE(ezinger @ Feb 21 2007, 06:10 PM) its fair to say you are not completely sure unless you live in those countries [: apple has worldwide warranty so im not too worried if anything happens [: Eventhough i'm not staying at those countries, but i know few friends staying at those places. Do u know that ipod and iphone is not that same? Even apple has worldwide warranty, once iphone is unlocked (illegally i assume), it will sure void warranty and you need go other shop to fix it or what. And iphone is the first phone made by apple. So it will be troublesome. The way i look at apple's point of view, iphone need to be with contracted. Apple will gain some of the shares(profit again) from those network operators and the iphone can sell at much lower price. If without contract, apple won't gain that share profit and i don't think it can sell at that low price

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Feb 23 2007, 10:51 AM) tishaban, The lower the better? *grins* Ya but if the price of the N73 is anything to go by, the N77 is going to be very expensive when it finally gets here. I still prefer Nokia's non-smart phones, the few smart phones I've tried seem to be a bit slower response wise. But definitely hook it up to your MBP via bluetooth. Most of the Nokia Symbian based phones allow this, my ancient Nokia 6230 works with it too but I think the SE ones work the best. Once you get the feel of getting SMS and linking it to your addressbook and transferring videos straight from iMovie to the phone and ... trust me, it's amazing! Buy an iPod now. Wait for the 2nd gen iPhone in 2008/9 when the bugs have been fixed and you get more cool accessories for it. This post has been edited by tishaban: Feb 23 2007, 11:30 AM

tishaban, Yeah, the little information I read on the N77 makes me wonder if I'll have enough $ to get the phone - maybe just get you to get the iPhone when ur in the States instead huh? *grins* Can't deny I find Nokia's smart phones a little slow but well, the lag's not something we can change, is there? Unlike others, i don't have special preference towards Nokia - though I must admit I'm looking at either just a SE or Nokia - obviously the latter would be good since I have sufficient chargers for home, and office *grins* Er.... I don't think I'll be using much of my phone function much - plus to sync it with MBP.. er... i haven't even worked those programs yet... u wanna give me a demo? signboard, You're deciding between an iPod and iPhone? Er..... shouldn't we just work on objectives here since the iPod and iPhone are basically 2 different gadgets; obviously with iPhone having more value added stuff in it...
