When I first read about the iPhone, I am so amazed about it. Hopefully it will be cheaper than RM2k and supports most providers. Lastly, I've got the feeling that they will release iPhone v2 by next year which will be good for us too.

rozei81,
If iPhone's introduced in this market at below RM2k, Steve Jobs will be 'hantam-ed' by his friendly competitors biggrin.gif

Bearing in mind, the prices of iPod, the phone would need to be priced slightly higher or there'll be a reduced market for iPods nod.gif

The iPhone looks impressive so far but the more I look at it, the more I feel that it's introduced with the US as its main target market. For example the two handed typing/SMS which is popular among Blackberry/Treo users but hardly seen in the Europe/Asian markets.

Let's see how it goes though. I'll be in the US during the launch so I hope to get some hands on time with it before deciding whether or not it's worth the price. biggrin.gif

I wont go for it, its operating system is a closed one meaning no 3rd party application for it, unless from apple itself, it doesnt have GPS too.

I rather go for Eten Glofish M700

ezinger,
I don't think it's too wise to purchase the iPhone just to be able to declare being the first around to be using the iPhone. A phone should be purchased based on practicality and functionality, no?

Er... then again, I'm thrifty... smile.gif

i dont think a phone is purchased for practical or functional use. everybody owns a 3g phone but not utilizing it. just for practical usage, u dont need a 3mp cam phone. just like buying a macbook. obviously u want a better spec than the regular right :]

but iPhone is totally a different case just like the iPod's. blame fashion [:
people spend 100thousands just be the first to own a sports car in malaysia because they can. the best part is they dont even have to declare, eventually everybody will know. since it takes a year or more for iPhone reaching malaysia and to wait for the price to drop, since i can get it overseas just because i can, so why not?

so dont tell me im unwise just because i buy an iPhone from overseas ;/

ezinger,
Like I said, I'm just thrifty when it comes to such gadgets, hence I look at it from a different perspective. To begin with, not everyone owns a 3G enabled phone - for one, I no longer do sad.gif

Also, unlike many people, I find a phone to be a phone and as convenient as it is to have a camera attached to it, if I'm going to take a photo, I rather be carrying a proper digital camera *shrugs* - perhaps I'm just too stereotyped? *shrugs*

If you're getting the iPhone for fashion sake then by all means, go get the iPhone... I'm pretty sure you're gonna be envied by all your friends but do beware about compatibility issues before you bring the phone back here yah? smile.gif

I can't afford to be the first person to own a brand new sports car here, but well, even if i can, that's not gonna help me reach self actualisation level on Maslow's chart smile.gif

supafreak,
Too much Management reading the last few days put Maslow here *grins* I would think so too by the time the phone reaches our shores, it'll be the 2nd Generation phones.. well, keep your fingers crossed the price would be compatible with the rest of the smart phones, hence leaving a smaller dent on all your pockets....

I wonder if I would have gotten a replacement for my phone by then.... sad.gif

YA. Sure can get it overseas. But? Do you forgot sth? Cingular network? You need to unlock iphone in order to be able to use in malaysia. Once unlock, i'm sure it will void warranty and you need to wait for the unlock software to release. rolleyes.gif So troublesome

I believe there will be quite a market for underwater/grey market iPhone models, the moment they're released in the US. It'll be for those people who really want to have the latest and greatest the moment it's released. I don't expect them to be very cheap though.

Pricing wise, Apple has never been one to sell at the same price as their competitors. I'll bet that the iPhone will be quite a bit more expensive than the iPaqs/Dopods/Eten/etc.

Me, I'll probably stick to my 2.5 year old (3-year old by the time the iPhone is released) Nokia. biggrin.gif But I'll still drop by the Apple Store to play with it when it's out.

ezinger,
How right u are.... Ask me to choose between climbing Mt KK and slogging 3 years for a degree I'll probably choose the latter blush.gif

tishaban,
*high5* I think the price of the iPhone will probably be in the RM2.5-RM3.5k range. And I think I'll stick to my old faithful until the need arises for a new phone.... [which coincidentally been almost 3 months now!!!!] sad.gif
