KUALA LUMPUR: Nearly 300 Bukit Damansara residents, joined by singer Sheila Majid, former CIMB chairman Nazir Razak, former minister Khairy Jamaluddin and activist Ambiga Sreenevasan, took to the streets today to protest against the planned redevelopment of Wisma Damansara into two 60-storey towers.

Holding placards with the words “Save Bukit Damansara” and “No to Skyscrapers”, residents warned that the project would turn Jalan Semantan into a permanent traffic jam, overwhelm infrastructure and erase the neighbourhood’s identity.

Nazir said while he supported development, the project was “monstrous”.

Bukit Damansara Homeowners’ Association president Sufian Majid said residents only learnt of the project via a newspaper notice on Aug 1, which revealed approval for a plot ratio of 1:9.6 – 60% higher than the 1:6 cap in KLLP 2040.

https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...wisma-damansara

Uuu/bbb liked to claim god no longer make land, is scarcity but ignored redevelopment is an option.

With plot ratio of 9.6 possible, high rise could be higher i.e 50% more area or new supply from the same plot of land.

It seems some developers have suspended launch of new high rise in kv due to poor sales and some of those that have large land bank (bought not long ago) are stretched in cash flow.

I will most probably never boyght any new property anymore. Paid off 2. Rent out edi. Im also renting.

If you are well off and can sort your finance and passive income nicely. Rent is the way forward.

Dont wanna be bogged down by banks interest, the house degradation/obsolete/wear and tear/taxes/maintenance fees/fixing plumbings, repairs etc2
*
after renting my fathers house out to some family, 30 years later, it was completely destroyed. and they didnt tell us because they are afraid we will repair the house and raise the rent. we rarely raise the rent. last last we were renting double storey landed house to them for rm 1100.

feel bad for not raising the rent now lol

out of 3 toilet only 1 is usable. wall crack, socket all broken, door broken... etc

It is unrealistic and ignorant to expect poorperly to crash like stock, commodity and crypto. poorperly is illiquid, price take years to bottom. most of those bought with bank loan in the last 10 years are underwater.

It is almost certain it will become high rise. the issue is the buyer overpaid and under current market sentiment, it would be high risk for them to launch.

Not exactly Singaporeans, most takers are young and retired PRs.

To the young, own place in homeland, to the retired (or nearing) it’s 2nd retirement home. There are many husbands who stays a PR for decades, only the wife/children Singaporean

Rising personal bankruptcies in Malaysia signal growing financial strain among households, which economists warn could, if left unchecked, undermine productivity, dampen consumer spending, and weaken investor confidence.
...
In the first nine months of 2025, Malaysia recorded 4,875 bankruptcy cases, a 5.7 per cent increase from the 4,611 cases registered during the same period in 2024. A total of 3,491 cases, or 71.6 per cent, involved debts between RM500,000 and RM999,999, while 1,004 cases, or 20.6 per cent, involved debts between RM100,000 and RM499,999.

Only will crash when many home buyers can't afford to service their loan. Else they just gonna HOLD until kingdom come.

Those cheated by guru and do compressed loan are still minority and not enough to cause big lelong events.
