Thanks all for the reply..
The uncle seems to believe 3.3% on board FD will much better than chasing promo rate

If got chance, I will try to ask the uncle explain why he think so..

I was skeptical as well with his claim but he's old timer, like 60+ which he have much more experience. Hence trying to ask much clearer clarification. This thread also got many knowledgeable ppl.

Once again. Thanks

if someone telling u 3.3% on board will be better, u can end the conversation and walk away immediately

Placing this promo eFD seem to count towards basic SA (no annual fee) free OTC quota. Got charged RM5 'volume charge', interesting.

Flexibility ba. Can take out anytime lo provided such term (for example my mbb homeloan is 4.4 daily compounded interest, if fd is less than 4.5 I will pull my money into the flexi homeloan, which I can withdraw anytime with RM25 processing fee).

Just checked today, CIMB 4.4% Conventional and 4.5% Islamic still open over the counter.

However the lady there said that I need to make an Islamic account for the Islamic deposit. On top of FD account. I was surprised since I just created a saving account recently for this. Now have to create another account.

Total need 3 accounts to place CIMB Islamic FD...? Can anyone confirm please? thanks.
*
That's a total BS from that lady. I do not have an Islamic account and I have placed Islamic FD last week. Basic SA will do.

I have a BSA, and placed without charge. Unless you mean you did more than 6 placements hence got charged. I just did one lump placement.

Placed fd at uob islamic 10 mths at 4.35%. Too bad the conventional fd promo is no longer available. Preferred the monthly interest credit.
Ambank is offering 4.40% for 6 mths. Eventually go for the longer tenure.

How do you managed to open 2 PCA accounts? One single name and one joint names?

I made the 6% + 3%  FD placement and opened the PCA account.

For 6% + 3% promo, effective rate is 4.77% for the minimum placement. With RM188 added in for RM10k placement, effective rate is close to 4.9%

if you maximise the 6+3 fully, effective interest not 5% meh?

hi guys, Maybank eFD takes 24 hours to be effective? I notice if I put in eFD, it will only show the next day and effective the next day.

Lose 1 day interest?

CIMB is misleading customer. The website didnt mention first 20K in PCA get no interest. Thus effective rate is 4.77%. It is 5.1% if your deposit is > 2 mill..

very simple. Both board rate and promo rate are compounded.

Auto renew on board rate is auto compound by bank.

Promo rate is also "compounded" except you have to deposit the interest yourself into whichever bank gives the best promo rate.

Assume FD is RM1000, board rate 3.3 and promo rate 4.5

Board rate compound
Year 1 FD 1000, Interest 1000 x 3.3 % = 33
Year 2 FD 1033, interest 1033 x 3.3%.....

Promo rate compound
Year 1 FD 1000, Interest 1000 x 4.5 % = 45
Year 2 FD 1045, interest 1045 x 4.5%.....

Nope. But it has been a while since I last put in Maybank eFD.

It wasn't like this 10 years ago. It will be reflected right after I put eFD with restriction that I cannot uplift the FD in the same day.

But now, I have to wait for the next day to have the eFD reflected, effective the next day.

the one thing i know is different type of efd (conventional vs islamic vs GIA) will need to create account (once). subsequent placement would be immediate.

Actually lots of elderly not aware of the higher FD promo rate, I mean really so many of them not aware. Even so many of my relatives got a shock when I told them can get >4% FD rate.

That day saw one uncle wanted to place 2m FD at Sunway CIMB, got a shock when the teller told him 3.x% (he went to teller and ask). Then I asked the teller, then only she said, oh 4.x% is promo rate. Funny, then she expect the uncle to place normal board rate?

I've another friend's uncle (in his 70s), super rich, have millions in FD. He doesn't believe in all those promo rate, every year auto renewal. How I wish he trust me let me handle haha, give me a small commission will do
