QUOTE(bbgoat @ Mar 29 2017, 05:39 PM) In BR to withdraw FD. Have nego before. They do not have FD promo currently. So nego for 1 year from 3.7% board rate to 3.9%. For 2 yr can offer nego of 4.1%. 5 yrs 4.5%. Up to March month end only. April offer not known yet. You withdraw your 4.15% from CIMB and redeposit for 4.2%?I think BR 5 yrs 4.5% can consider better than AmBank 4.35%. Anyway moved to CIMB at 4.2% 12 mth. This is only for CIMB Preferred customer. For normal customer, CIMB FD promo 12 mth 4.1% for conventional and 4.05% for Islamic FD. [attachmentid=8660585] |

Please check before simply quoting 4.8, 5.8, 6.8 etc. Bank spread is not that high to offer such a good FD rate. Best to benchmark current 12 months 4.2%

QUOTE(ikanbilis @ Nov 3 2017, 09:58 PM) Are you sure you know how to compute FD interest rate? Haha this is so much common sense, I really don't know how he count, maybe he expect 4.8% x 2 = 9.6% annually.OKOK, so somebody calculated as 2.4199% for 6 months. I just take 2.4% for 6 months is enough. That's 4.8% pa which is 0.6% more than the current Ambank promo 4.2%pa |

QUOTE(siawyent @ Dec 28 2017, 04:57 PM) is this promotion applicable for all branches? why I called up the nearby branch it says 4.2% only? or need to negotiate first? QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Dec 28 2017, 07:36 PM) Some bank staff won't mention different types conventional, islamic or eFD. Simply give you one part answer only like no promo or not promoting. Faced same problem, Ambank Puchong staff insist 4.2%, no extra. I called second time, was told if they can get the manager will call me back. 2 days never receive any news from them, don't want to waste time straight place at MaybankHope all our posters/depositors can make it a point to question and press the bank staff to answer all 3 parts so that bank staff will get educated/used to provide better information/replies/service to meet FD depositor/enquirer expectations. If everybody work at this especially on new staff, hopefully we will have less of such kind of problems at this forum. Can help or not? |

QUOTE(Clement1001 @ Mar 20 2018, 12:11 PM) Can share which branch is it? I just went to Menara Ambank, the ABM and BM very arrogantly told me no such thing as 4.4% max is 4.38%. I even called them before I went and I was told 4.4% during the call. They denied it and insist it's impossible. Damn pissed off wasted so much time there |

QUOTE(michaelho @ Mar 22 2018, 05:18 PM) then you ask the arrogant asses to eat this cert. Just tell them Klang Valley branch, if they challenge you further My first experience with AmBank, I've already given up totally and will never bank with them in future. I took Uber all the way to Menara Ambank at KLCC after calling them to confirm the 4.4%. The best part is, they were so good at "recognizing" their staff voice within seconds and told me it was not their staff (all my conversation was recorded, so I proved to them)QUOTE(VinceCheong @ Mar 22 2018, 07:37 PM) Assert your grounds I spoke to both Asst Branch Manager (Irene) and Branch Manager (he said he's Lay, refused to reveal full name). Both were adamant that I was creating story (as I told them my friend got 4.4%).If they say they've never heard of it, talk to their sup or manager. Don't bother wasting your saliva xD Went to Alliance Bank, got 4.38%. Not without issues though, waited for 30 min, reached my turn, then told me PIC not around (don't know go where MIA). After that keep calling PIC, waiting some time he came back. Then cannot find the relevant forms, keep finding here and there. I really wonder what's wrong with banks employees nowadays, if they don't want business don't do promotion |

QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Mar 23 2018, 12:21 AM) I passed 4 Ambank branches recently and all of them were consistent in confirming that the 4.4% is available not for fresh funds or non-fresh funds under another rate but only for renewals. I did not press how much extra top-up can be allowed for the higher rate as I did not have any Ambank FD maturing. As usual nowadays most banks are very inconsistent, some branches willing to ask for approval, some just not interestedQUOTE(Jeffreynsx @ Mar 23 2018, 08:11 AM) First paragraph: Perhaps the main reason is the amount you wish to deposit is not huge enough for them? This promotion could be reserved for AmBank priority customers only? Amount is considerably huge, it's not so much about the amount they're just ignorantSecond paragraph: Most of them interested in selling unit trust, insurance and etc instead of encouraging their customer to put in fixed deposit. QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Mar 23 2018, 09:47 AM) The TnC for the Ambank 4.4% FD is for renewal only with minimum deposit amount RM50k. If renewal amount exceeded 50k, no need to top up. (Last day today.) I don't need them to explain the T&C to me, I know how to read the T&C. If you've read my post clearly, I called them to ask about the rate for fresh fund, and the call was recorded with their staff confirming 4.4% for fresh fund. That was the reason I went over.Yours is fresh fund, the promo rate for fresh fund is 4.35%. The ABM and BM didn't explain the TnC to you? |

QUOTE(??!! @ Oct 17 2018, 12:44 PM) I saw the link on my CIMB click. Tried placement with funds from savings account - failed Tried placement with funds from Preferred current account - successful. That was yesterday Today, the link in my CIMB click is no longer there I checked with my RM...seems this promo for selected customers only...ie if u see the link in your cimb click, you're eligible. Also it may seems theĀ promo is no longer valid the day after it is utilized ... QUOTE(David_Yang @ Oct 17 2018, 04:22 PM) So if you did it one time, the link disappears. I expected this, that is why so far I did not do it. Not really, I've placed it once, and now I still see the link, still able to click it, just that I didn't try to make the 2nd placement yetI just hope they give a warning if they close it before 31st Dec. Like they did with the 6+3 promo, that shpuld have also run until end of the year, now only until Nov 1. This post has been edited by msa9696: Oct 17 2018, 09:40 PM |

QUOTE(David_Yang @ Oct 17 2018, 10:49 PM) Please update us on this. If two times is possible, I want to start round 1 now and then in december, when other stuff matures, round 2. I'm still waiting for my other FD to mature next month only I'll place again@Micky78, I read nothing about fresh funds. Another topic, did anybody recalculate the 4.7% from Bank Rakyat. If I multiply the interest I get every month with 60 the interest rate is only 4.64 and not 4.70. Please check yours. |

QUOTE(kplaw @ Nov 12 2018, 10:46 AM) Cimb preferred current account many charges. Less than 20k no interest. Rm10 half yearly charge if av balance less than rm1k. Cancellation fee is rm20 if less than 3 months, more than 3 months is rm10. Debit card's annual fee is rm15. That's why I cancelled it after 3 months (previously got special fd rate with pca) n so didn't go for the recent 50k/200k bundled fd promotion. Maybank worst in terms of min balance, Maybank min is 5k to waive fee. But the rest I don't know, just know this 5k minhttps://www.cimbbank.com.my/en/personal/pro...tures--Benefits |

QUOTE(kochin @ Dec 18 2018, 08:38 AM) apparently cimb suffered a major hack and some customers lost their money. Quickly changed my pw after saw thatanybody here kena? cimb issued a statement yesterday to deny it but .... else why they suddenly introduce a recatcha phrase thingy when no other banks does it. Just curious, those who has multiple smaller FD deposits online (i.e 30 pcs of RM 5k), if kena hack missing 1 pc not even sure will notice or not haha |

Actually lots of elderly not aware of the higher FD promo rate, I mean really so many of them not aware. Even so many of my relatives got a shock when I told them can get >4% FD rate.
That day saw one uncle wanted to place 2m FD at Sunway CIMB, got a shock when the teller told him 3.x% (he went to teller and ask). Then I asked the teller, then only she said, oh 4.x% is promo rate. Funny, then she expect the uncle to place normal board rate? I've another friend's uncle (in his 70s), super rich, have millions in FD. He doesn't believe in all those promo rate, every year auto renewal. How I wish he trust me let me handle haha, give me a small commission will do |
