I'm confused why does CIMB wanna set the 4.5% rate only for OTC when they can do it online?
It's so much more trouble for me to take time to go to the bank, than to do it online...
*
Where did u see the 4.5%? I only see 4.4..which is not a nice number 😂😂

Received a call from CIMB Maluri:

They're offering 6% for 3-month FD for Preferred customers.
But I'm not a Preferred customer.
She sure made a mistake.
*
LOL with this kind of rate im sure minimum deposit would be 100 or 200k

Still safe to put FD at CIMB bank since their system being hacked ?

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Dec 19 2018, 09:46 AM)
1) if not feeling good about the bank, then just ignore them. go for other banks instead.

2) understand what truly happened to cimb. hacked or leaked? what was compromised and not?

3) if still doubt and uncertain, goes back to (1) above.
dont need to force yourself to take cimb's offers/products.
*
That's a very wise advice. You should not let anyone tell you where to put your money. No one is gonna take responsibility if one day anything happen to that money (touch wood). So be your own judge, my friend. thumbsup.gif

Just came out from AMBank. I am not sure about existing customer but as new customer, this is what I found out:
1. The 4.4 rate only applicable to preferred customer. To become preferred customer, deposit 200k
2. It is only 1 time placement, minimum & maximum is 200k.
3. 12 months tenure.
4. Need to open current account with min 10k first month, subsequently need to maintain at least 3k in the current account else RM5 fee will be charged.

Now I am in CIMB bank, Islamic FD 4.5% 6 months tenure, min deposit 10k. Opening...
*
With so many TnC and they only managed to offer 4.4 rate? shame on AMB@ank!

She told me dont put all in FD, can get better return  open new Preferred Current Account PCA. RM10k get RM188 next month.

So i remove RM20k open 2 PCA accounts, will get RM188 x2 by 19.1.2019.then close PCA.

There are many banks offering 6% and above too, but it is not pure FD, it needs to be bundled with Unit Trust and what not. In other words, what you see is not what you get devil.gif

Just checked today, CIMB 4.4% Conventional and 4.5% Islamic still open over the counter.

However the lady there said that I need to make an Islamic account for the Islamic deposit. On top of FD account. I was surprised since I just created a saving account recently for this. Now have to create another account.

Total need 3 accounts to place CIMB Islamic FD...? Can anyone confirm please? thanks.
*
That's a total BS from that lady. I do not have an Islamic account and I have placed Islamic FD last week. Basic SA will do.

True. Even HLB eFD can get monthly interest.

Latest update from SCB.. its a FD like product.

4.5% fixed interest for 3 years tenure, cannot withdraw during the period. minimum 150K.  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

any thoughts?
*
No need to think. Better skip. Which FD doesn't allow withdraw during the tenure? 150k stuck there emergency then gg la. Other banks can give the same rate with flexi FD.

I guess is better for us to go OTC if we wanna place fd in hlb right? Usually how do we move big amount for fd placement between banks? bank draft or cheque?
*
Your question has been answered multiple times in this thread. You can use the search button.

If you still cannot find the answer, I suggest you to hire a lorry to move the money from one bank to another. 👌

Hi sifu,

Just like to seek you advice on the below.

Once that banker cheque is bank in the saving account, can the fund still be considered as fresh fund if I want to place this fund to FD at the counter the next day?

thank you
*
QUOTE(Wong Kit yew @ Jan 8 2019, 06:33 PM)
Yes, it's still considered as fresh for the duration of 7 days. However the definition for fresh fund may be different for different banks.
*
True. Depends on the bank, some bank 3 days some bank 7 days still considered fresh fund. You should check the FD TnC, it is stated there clearly.

But what I am curious is how u get this rate for renewal? Since they only allow for fresh funds. Renewal should be board rate, no?

I did mention I want to transfer to another bank if I don't get a favorable rate. So they said they have for 6 months at 4.5%. That's it.
*
Haha nice one bro! I will use the same method when renewing. And I will try ask for higher rate hehe. I hope they are more accommodating towards preferred customers 😁😁😁

New rules in TnC for HLB eFD. Make sure you read carefully before you apply, especially this:

13. No interest / profit shall be payable on premature withdrawals of eFD / eFD-i with effect from 1 January 2019 onwards,
regardless of the number of completed months at the time of premature withdrawal.
HLB / HLISB reserves the right to claw back and deduct an amount equivalent to the interest / profit paid to the Eligible
Customers in respect of the eFD / eFD-i Amount which is prematurely withdrawn from the principal eFD / eFD-i Amount upon
withdrawal.
HLISB customer(s) shall be deemed to have agreed to waive his / her right to claim the full selling price for any withdrawal of
the eFD-i before the maturity date.
