That's why I don't really want to use MST till most the things are being sorted out.
At least with NFC/Wave, I don't need to share anything.
*
this is more to merchant education/training, i doubt it will get sorted out in a short period.

most of the time is i teach the cashier (even with so called Samsung Pay "affiliated" merchant). so far haven't encounter the type of cashier of yours.

most of them is shocked, exited and gladly accept the last 4 digital number lol~

Because Samsung pay do not share your actual credit card number.

When they don't trust you they will ask for your card. There a shop they even ask for my card to key in card  no, expiry date and name except cvv
*
did you show them Samsung pay app? or just tell them you want to pay with your phone, then flash your phone on the credit card terminal then keep in your pocket?

QUOTE(David83 @ Jul 16 2017, 08:18 PM)
I have no concern of educating cashier.
But sometimes, the uncertainty falls on merchant cash register. Their software is asking for certain format of input.
*
hmmm.....so far.....i see alot asking me to give them credit card number, when i say only 4 digit, print out receipt also last 4 digit.

When they are not educated if you show them your phone, they will presume you could be hacking or being suspicious.

There once a Starbucks , she ask for my phone i said i will scan it but her colleague said u cannot let customer scan. I told her if you drop my phone will you be responsible?
*
show them the APP, not the phone only. you show them the phone of course it looks like you are hacking lol~

BHP is using Affin terminal. Error message when using Visa on Mastercard terminal is "card error'
*
does it apply to physical card also? or only pay wave??

QUOTE(moonsatelite @ Jul 16 2017, 08:31 PM)
For my case when cashiers asked for the 16 digit card number, I used this website Credit Card Checker to manually create a valid card number and then use the number and verbally announce it for the cashier to enter it into the POS machine.

It's a hassle, but you can manually create it yourself.

Example, Digital Card Number "0196", then I use my debit card number and check one single digit one by one on the website till it says valid.

My fake card number 4848 1000 5702 "0196"
*
lol...your method create hassle for your self, just ask them to activate the credit terminal 1 more time at 0.01.....scan but don't press enter and refer there.

else, if you have 2nd phone, just download credit card reader, activate samsung pay and scan it.

You dont understand. They never seen anyone paying using a phone even you show them the app you are still paying using a phone. In their mind it's impossible you can put a credit card inside a phone.

Visa wave uses a card and credit card swipe uses a card they can't visualise how a phone + credit card will work on their traditional system. So I do not blame them.
*
it's funny how West Malaysia is more reluctant on new things, while i am in east malaysia where technologies is always 5 years behind, are all exited to know how it works.

i even used Samsung Pay 3-4 month before the Samsung Pay beta started, no such problem.

maybe it's the way you present the phone/samsung pay laugh.gif

I successfully used Samsung Pay in Caltex, the funny thing is that the card machine prompted for both PIN & Signature. I did both.

Also, if you are a Petronas customer then they have officially announced support for Samsung Pay. They cannot say no anymore.
*
i once go to Starbuck at Sabah, stated accept Samsung Pay, but when i say i want use Samsung Pay, the cashier say the system is not configured yet, then when i pass her the physical card, she use paywave laugh.gif

that time i am not in a healthy condition to argue, so i just let that one slide.

I need to inform this as I just remembered this, the scan Samsung Pay on the 2nd phone method although it works but if you take that card number and put it on the card validator websites and the result WILL be that the card number is invalid. You can try it since you know the method yourself.
*
thats the point, it's virtual number of your real card, in case the number is stolen/leaked, or merchant got hacked, they got the not valid number, cannot be used, but it's valid for bank to refer back to Samsung pay transaction.

Cashier won't go to website to check whether it's valid or not, or atleast i don't think they know how to check

it's good to know the virtual number is not valid to be used online, i didn't bother to check lol, 1 more security feature.

I have an impression of just flashing the barcode for the cashier to scan it.
I might be wrong.
*
yes only the barcode. i did remeber saw a update mention mst for membership card function, but thats for my US set, even my US set i didn't see MST function on our loyalty card, malaysia set, i not sure.

Is the barcode is encrypted or what?
*
barcode is not encrypted, it's only number in the format of barcode.

no point to encrypt it, for loyalty card, since you are benefiting from it if people keep scanning/credit your loyalty barcode laugh.gif

it's different, for starbuck card barcode, since starbuck card is literary a cash card, it's vulnerable to fraud, well, doesn't matter, even physical card mention do not expose barcode, further more i don't use starbuck card anymore.

Nothing beats Samsung pay MST even apple pay or Google pay is here.

But I really love the idea of wireless payment.

Now just wonder when will touch and go allow it to be used on our phone. Transaction to be deduct directly rather than reload.
*
chances are very very low, by allowing it to be used on the phone, their revenue on the card sales would drop

same goes for apple pay, apple charge a sum on every transaction to bank, i don't think bank would like that.

They don't earn from the physical card because you can return to get refund. They earn from vendor or merchant. That why parking charge u additional for the services or when reload.
*
1 card RM10, expired after 1 year if no use, forced buy new one.

2 years validity if no problem.

imagine if there is 50000 card expired or faulty need replacement in a year, thats 500k

then you have deposit that cannot be refund, thats additional revenue.

in singapore, the transit card validity is 5 years,

ezway.... put money on your ic... the touch n go function on mykad never be expired...even not being use...
*
in a way yes, but who would wanna really put in mykad, risking of lossing the mykad when everyday take in and out .

i mean in general, when people just buy the transit card, that directly translate to revenue loss to TnG if they ever go ahead with samsung pay, which would stop them to even thinking about implement mobile payment.

even their own system they dont implement, they implement mobile wallet instead, which is a different thing than transit card

Well, it depends as so many companies are pushing for e-wallet thingy.
Local banks: CIMB Pay, Maybank Pay
Foreign titans: AliPay, WeChat Pay, Apple Pay (perhaps)
Local e-wallet: Touch&Go
*
what i mean is actually the update release by samsung to our region.

touch&go not yet live, even live i think would go down very fast.

Alipay n wechat have higher chances,

Malaysia Apply pay also don't have, US also don't have yet(e-wallet)....i think 2 years later also dont have....in other region, normally Apply Pay go in then the other 2 follow closely behind 1 or 2 month.

Maybank previously launch e-wallet before....after that, sunk, nothing happen....

RM 11.10 at McD

o_O dafug~ i think you just have to call bank and ask them why....

i did remember reading somewhere that, if you reach accumulated more than the daily limit, you would have to use physical card and pin to "reset" the daily limit.

my do not honor moment is when i try to "swipe" more than 1k

card error - if i am not mistaken for other error message, at starbuck, when my mst is too close to the credit card terminal that have both NFC and MST
