But the statement from BNM applies to transactions made with a physical card, not digital cards/ tokens. Since Samsung Pay is not a physical card then it would take the bank to reconfigure Samsung Pay for PIN transactions instead of signature.
*
i prefer they don,t, i like the pin less and probably future signature less if they fix it.

BNM just need to amend their statement

Today encountered unsuccessful SPay at my usual car polish place. 1st time wanna try this SPay at this place.

The terminal looks like non-nfc version. I'm using Citi card.
The uncle not familiar with SPay but he is willing to allow to try it out.

So I asked him to press F2. Then the terminal prompt card number whereby from guide that I download from this page mentioned time to key-in the value.
Because the terminal asked for card, thus I tap at terminal right side, it received and then only asked to key-in payment value.
Terminal prompt asking either Debit or Credit, select Credit.
It asked again either the number correct or not. The number match wish SPay digital card number. He pressed confirm, then after awhile terminal prompt unable to honor it. Tried 3x, produced same results. Gave up. And pay using physical card (same card)

I'm wondering what went wrong here. Any input?

So far I never encountered issue with NFC enable terminal except stupid Uniqlo outlet which do not allow to pay using SPay. They even not allowed to pay using CIMBPay. Complaint to their official FB page, they claimed that's their policy and I sarcastically tease their orthodox approach.
*
unable to honor means already goes through bank system, call bank and ask them why

technically your Samsung Pay is working, but problem at bank side.

what is your transaction amount? if more than RM250.....and for bank that don't allow increase limit for mobile payment that is mostly what error message you will get

if you ever get process error, or unable to honour or do not honour, try once enough.....it's bank issue, not the reader not reading Samsung Pay signal

Hi guys, I bought s8 from Singapore and my samsung pay Singapore's promotion. Is there any way to change it to Malaysia?
*
though luck like me...

no.....unless you got the ball to flash it back to Malaysia ROM in the process risking to brick if not tripped the knox counter which could prevent you from using Samsung Pay even if you successfully flash back to Malaysia ROM

What is the KNOX counter and its function for?
Does it tie to some hardware security/encryption engine?
*
Samsung got 1 special hardware root prevention "e-fuse"

once any one root or unlock the "core system", it tripped the Knox counter......normally 0x0 become 0x1, after then....that phone is forever cannot be used for samsung pay...and void of warranty, if the phone still have warranty

no turning back.

and yes, in a way it ties back to hardware security, it always check for this knox counter, whether the device is tempered/compromised or not.

BHP wave bia Samsung pay only recognise Mastercard. Some BHP disable the wave function even Mastercard is used. Success BHP wave station at OUG and Kuchai Lama. Failed Old Klang Road towards PJ near Citizen condo.

Aeon Big wave only recognise Visa card. If Samsung Pay used with Mastercard, it will not recognise.

McDonald wave is most versatile accept both Master and Visa Samsung pay.
*
What is the error message you get if you use MasterCard on Visa only terminal

try flash the Malaysia ROM ?
make sure is SM-G950FD as this is the model number for Malaysia version S8
but if not mistaken flash stock rom doesn't triggered the knox
knox counter are use use to track whether user have been root or not
if doesn't root = 0
if root then will show 1, even unroot back the 1 counter is still there and cannot use Samsung Pay anymore
*
Malaysia ROM is abit different, it's in 1 file, while the other country like US, uses 4 separate file...(referring to my phone model)

technically yes, if use stock rom, but then he just bought a brand new phone, plus he might not have the knowledge to do it incase anything goes wrong, i would not recommend him do that risking a 3-4K phone.

The special thing about Samsung pay even without wave it can use as a card using MST ( magnetic secure transmission) as a physical credit card but on some vendor Samsung pay fail to work on their machine I suspect could be like david said selected bank have not update their system to accept tokenization.

On one specify vendor even successful using MST the machine still ask for my cvv

Usually nfc is automatic on.
*
what did you key in for CVV? last 4 digital credit card number? or real CVV of physical card?

Real 3 number of cvv. The machine request for it.
*
which merchant is that, i never encounter any terminal asking me for CVV...it defeat the purpose of using Samsung Pay which masked/protect your real credit card information.

that weird hmm.gif
and yes, better not risk it
better go and visit service center to check whether can change to Malaysia ROM or not nod.gif
*
i doubt they would help, since he did not "give" business to Samsung Malaysia. biggrin.gif

not sure if Singapore Samsung would be able to help.

A hardware shop but if uses physical card it ask for pin.
*
i would recommend you report to Samsung Pay and bank regarding this anomaly, so they can fix it.

they would need your transaction time, merchant location info etc..

yea
btw why require to turn on data when using Samsung pay, I don't get it rclxub.gif
what if I go to a mall that have low signal or running slow data hmm.gif
*
actually you don't need turn on data, but there is a limit on how many transaction it would approved.

if i am not mistaken 5 if not 10.

it's ok during low or no signal, but don't purposely turn off data smile.gif Samsung pay constantly sync and renew the token ( not very sure on the renew token part )

I have one transaction not captured by Samsung Pay app.
I think I did turn on the data but perhaps that area is out of coverage with speed lesser than E.
*
hmm.....i once at a situation no data, but the transaction captured and notified me after i go to location with data.

i think you should report to Samsung Pay with those receipt, base on my experience reporting to Samsung Pay, the respond i got is crap, but no harm just notify/let them know.

It's OK. I have already completed the powerbank contest.
It's not so critical for me.
*
to me, i am more concern about capturing the transaction to notify me such transaction has gone through.

But did you receive SMS for this transaction?

i once encounter,at Shell station, the next day after the transaction, 2AM got another prompt of same transaction amount. which give me a shock, i thought is a fraud, luckily is a glitch, no real transaction got through for the 2nd transaction, and i earn extra Samsung reward point for nothing. laugh.gif

Neither.
But the transaction has already appeared in my e-statement.
The transaction has gone through with a receipt printout.
The said merchant is McD Tesco E-gate Penang.
That area is bad data coverage for Celcom.
*
i doubt is data coverage issue considering you don't even receive SMS notification afterward.

well hopefully is an once off issue

Because the cash register asked for a 16-digits CC number input.
You can provide the associating 16-digits virtual/digital CC numbers (provided you have it).
*
i never do provide them real number, i just tell them i don't know, it's only the last 4 digit number mention in the samsung pay, or if their machine can swipe, which i will let them scan 1 more time

by right they cannot swipe 1 more time in their machine to capture card information(especially Starbuck), for swiping "real card" if they have such facility, you can report them to the bank.

luckily enough, if use samsung pay at starbuck, they don't ask for my card information anymore, nor ask me to scan the Samsung Pay information.

but if real card, they will swipe your card 1 more time.

The cash register specially asking for 16 digits even though I tried to convince them to use the last 4-digit of the virtual CC number.

they need key in card details before using the terminal, you guys go gsc try, they will ask for cc number
*

i assume your GSC POV is similar like Starbuck on the monitor, got a swipe slot?

if the same, ask them to activate, you just scan at the side of their monitor

Actually I didn't bring the physical card with me.
I had to dig into my e-statement to get it. LOL

For my case, I did mention it's not the terminal but the cash register.
*
worse case scenario, i would just ask the cashier activate the credit card terminal 1 more time with RM0.01, ask them to record from there.

i never have the chance to do it =/
