1gb per slot. so with 2 slots filled, it'll be 2gbs, running in dual channel.

the only solution for mobile pc's to upgrade their gfx is by getting an external gfx card which is currently being developed by asus if im not mistaken..

but HL2 and Quake 4 are running very smoothly on my SZ48. good for a few rounds during meeting breaks. smile.gif

Good to hear that dude...I like gaming too...that's why my target is SZ48 too... But 1 thing I doubted with, is it worth to pay extra RM1000 to get SZ48 instead of SZ44?

well...if ur main usage for ur laptop is mainly word processing, checking emails and surfing the net, then the SZ44 or even the SZ43 will do.

but if u like to do a little gaming, then go for the SZ48. the only difference between these SZ models is the processing speed and HDD space. The processing speed makes a big difference especially when gaming. of coz, dun expect it to be on par with desktop performance. i'm already very happy getting at least 60fps on my SZ48, even with HDR and 2x antialiasing turned on in HL2. Warcraft 3 is also very smooth. (good for networking sessions in the office). brows.gif if u want the best in gaming, u can opt for the nice but huge FE series or the ultra expensive AR model, both equiped with Nvidia 7600 chipset.

and remember to get an extra 1gb RAM when u purchase ur SZ. Windows Vista will thank you for it.

Not only those differences... The L2 cache speed for SZ48 is 4MB while the SZ44 or SZ43 is just 2MB only... I been to Sony Style KLCC n try out among these 3 models... With 1G ram, SZ44 will a bit lag when i try to open programs while the SZ48 have no lag problem at all...smooth n fast... SZ48 provide bigger HDD space, which is 160GB. When I check on the SZ48 at KLCC, it already use up bout 20GB already...HDD space left only around 135GB...
Furthermore, the SZ48 design is much nicer compare to other 2 SZ series, no matter in terms of LCD or the physical outlook... That's the main thing that attract me about SZ48...but have to pay extra 1k pula... sweat.gif sweat.gif

P/S - Add extra 1G of RAM will cost another few hundreds pula...

ya 1k more,,...

since 160GB 2.5" is far expensive than 120GB although 40GB different...

the different is NOT like 80 and 120...

80 and 120 is around 200-280 but 160GB is start from 400++

Sony laptops will take up 6-7gb of HDD space for recovery. (it's in a hidden partition). that's why u think that Windows is taking up loads of space. (well...it does...but only 2-3gb). i didn't know about the L2 Cache difference until now. sweat.gif

RAM is not that expensive. do not buy from Sony...they just stick in normal Kingston DDR-2 667mhz SODIMM RAM for u and u get get that at LYP for RM180 i think. Sony sells them for RM250. but it is highly recommended that u have at least 2gb RAM for Vista to run smoothly.

i thought all C2D processors have 4MB L2 cache? or maybe that's just for desktops?

RM300+ is crazy money for 1GB DDR-2 SODIMM RAM. i bought mine during PC Fair and enquired about the 1GB stick. the sales dude offered Kingston @ RM210. but i still went and bought it at LYP. only cost RM180.
