QUOTE(Miyabi @ Mar 22 2007, 04:51 PM) perhaps a good ventilation system (d.i.y one) might help you. i dont have sz series, i cant complain much. though through the review i read, Thanks for the info Miyabi... Actually its the SZ specs that caught my eye onto it... I do consider of getting other brand of laptop... Fujitsu or HP i heard is not too bad...so far no complain one...but their weight is not as good as this SZ series with the same specs...the one i post before jason, the user dont faced any overheating problem for vaio. and seriously, it's also rare case for vaio to overheating. i have done the survey through forum, especially, notebook's forum. besides, sz series is popular series in US for vaio. any vaio'er (sz user) out there mind give a short review about the lappy? try do more survey jason. good luck in finding best laptop that suit your need! I will do more survey on all the lappy...hopefully the coming PC Fair might help me out as well.. |

QUOTE(kingmax @ Mar 24 2007, 01:02 AM) Anyone know the difference between VGN-C25G/W and VGN-SZ43GN/B ? Actually both model is more or less the same...just difference in few specs such as weight, build in microphone n webcam, bigger harddisk size. If u travel often, it good that u take SZ series cause it's only 1.85kg compare to C series 2.3kg.The price for VGN-SZ43GN/B is much more expensive than VGN-C25G/W by 1k. As for me , i only know little about laptop spec , so i need help to have a look for the difference. VGN-SZ43GN/B http://www.sony.com.my/sonystyle/product/p...bcategoryid=174 VGN-C25G/W http://www.sony.com.my/sonystyle/product/p...bcategoryid=177 |

Guys, as a user of the SZ38GP for couple of months, I can say its the best laptop I've user used!!! Heating problems? Nope. In fact, the fan and CPU can be set to Adaptive to suit performance also lah... I've ran some engineering software on it... and even with my 2GB RAM and 100% CPU running continuously for about 6 hours, it was alrite. You can here even set the fan to quiet - apparently will slow the system down a little, but man... the fan is silent. No sound whatsoever. If u doing 'normal' stuff like word processing or only surfing, the SZ doesnt get hot on the knees... All in all, a laptop I would definitely recommend! Good to hear this from u Twin_Sparx. Since i heard there is few complain about heating problem from VAIO SZ series user, actually i m kinda confuse whether to get SZ 44 or not... After reading ur reply here, i think should b no more worry to get a SZ series... Actually it depends on luck when u purchase VAIO isn't it? May b some of the unit u get will have defect or failure... |

QUOTE(Twin_Sparx @ Mar 25 2007, 10:11 PM) jason, EVERYTHING you buy depends on some degree of luck. If you think about it, laptops are sold on a daily basis, and just because some new owners found heating or some other problems, don't let a few bad apples spoil the whole damn bunch! Wow...it's even expensive for SZ series in UK... Actually i did get good feedback from my fren who dealing business on E-bay... He dealing in buy n sell laptop (orang tengah la). He said for VAIO lappy, it's just like Ferrari or Lambo dy compare to Dell or HP (BMW n Merc). So, i'm kinda confident wit it already...just that in LYN here, got 2 (TWO) bad feedback..then it more or less affect my choice since i m dealing wit a 7 or 8K business...so ma need to survey more...Ensure you buy from a good source and register your product. I've emailed SONY a couple of times enquiring some things about my lappie (Sonicstage help etc) and I've always received good response. I think their service is second to none. Seriously, dont think so much. I was doing research for couple of months, deciding between Dell XPS or Fujitsu.... before finally biting the the bullet and gettin the SZ. As I'm working in UK now, even my British colleagues were impressed at its looks, performance and weight....not forgetting the price I paid for it too. (The SZ38GP was and is still going for 1799 pounds!!! 1 more thing i worry bout is the OS that the SZ44 giving.. Almost all the new lappy now come wit Vista dy...but there is still lot of problems with Vista... |

QUOTE(Miyabi @ Mar 26 2007, 12:10 AM) dont worry much about vista, if you dealing most with office stuff, no problem. ms office 2003 still works charm, and many more software is going to be friendly with vista. If i request for dual boot OS, i wonder will they provide me XP for free or not...and gaming, i just try out stalker, no conflict and so on. the only problem arise, if you do stuff like programming. the compiler is still hard to find the compatibility with vista.. anyway, all the best im not sure if you can request for xp. but once you in vista, you going to love it lol. |

QUOTE(Twin_Sparx @ Mar 26 2007, 04:06 AM) Haha, that was why I quickly grab SZ38 before SZ48 came out. I specifically DID not want Vista... why bother with a new OS when I'm getting the last revision (hopefully) and matured XP Professional! Haha...the main difference btw those 2 series is just the OS... Actually i still not so confident wit Vista...since it still not totally stable yet n not so user friendly.. (Same case like XP was newly introduced to the market, users also found few problem... May b this the culture Uncle Gates wanna keep gua...) Oh, you work with MATLab too!? Cool piece of software... although I find MathCAD more powerful now for solving ODEs and other math problems. Of course, MATLAB can do simulink and other control system problems la. MATLab is cool in solving ODEs, control system problems..but i still newbie in this MATLab...still got many things 4 me to learn... |

QUOTE(Miyabi @ Mar 31 2007, 09:20 PM) ^ usually lappy with dedicated graphic need high performance battery. U mean either to choose Stamina or Speed mode?i can run up to 3 hours (integrated gfx). my friend lappy with atix1600 can only long for 1 hour 30 mins. thats why, if the graphic card is switchable like the sz-series, it will become more convenient if you want to travel with your lappy while having the functionailty to play game. |

QUOTE(akeiser @ Apr 2 2007, 02:04 AM) Hi, I'm choosing between C25 and SZ43 now. First of all, there is RM2,000.00 difference between those 2 series...SZ43 specs also not that good as compare to SZ48's C2D 2.0GHz, L2 cache = 4MB advanced smart cache, 160G HDD, 1.69kg. Others like RAM, GC, OS all the same only...seem like SZ43's spec is hanging halfway if compared to SZ48 aspecially on different LCD screen technology (slimmer).... Is it worth to get SZ43? share ur opinion pls, LYN Vaio owners... Thanks ya. Tell u wat...I been thinking of getting SZ48 as well..but it's really out of my budget... Then i turn down my target to SZ44 (slightly better specs than SZ43) Hopefully i can get it by this month... |

QUOTE(Miyabi @ Apr 8 2007, 07:11 PM) just wanna share some tips on getting difference series of vaio notebook driver. Totally agree wit u bro... The name also called 'MyFirstVAIO'...cause normally if u wanna buy ur 1st VAIO, will go for that series 1st..very smart Sony marketing strategy...when you click on the driver software (on the first page) with proceed button(if im not mistake), go to your Windows folder first, C:\Windows , look for this file: Model.txt. Simply change the model number (if yours is VGN-FE38GP) it will stated there. just change that number of your own there with the driver's series number. after that save. and go back to your installation window, proceed the installation as usual. lol, somehow i cant imagine sony did this for driver validation.. maybe because of demand and price tag for it. just for example, the 007 tx series which not available in malaysia. besides, in malaysia, not many people used vaio rather than people in us, europe, japan. currently, i can see they (sony malaysia/sony corp.) trying their best to promote the "affordable" c-series value among the teenager through contests, just to give people first glance about vaio and it's so called design. just my opinion only la lol. |

QUOTE(Twin_Sparx @ Apr 10 2007, 03:59 PM) deathrbringer, Dunno is it worth to pay extra RM1000 to get SZ48 instead of SZ44? Of course SZ48 i also known as SZ Premium.. Just got the new VAIO catalog from Sony Center at midvalley today...I was in the same dilemma as you.. was seriously tempted to get the Dell XPS... then when I laid my eyes on the SZ, all after thoughts went out of the window. Get th SZ la, Made in Japan, sleek and slim and just so much sexier than the XPS. Forget the FE la... its just too heavy |

Heard that Intel Centrino Pro will be out next month? Is it worth to wait it out so that we can get C2D tech to drop price?
