Did it a couple times in the past within WM and it was fine. Not sure about EM/WM though.

If it's Amazon, usually I ship them back for a refund or a new item. Usually its free return. Depends also if you bought directly from Amazon itself or a retailer using the Amazon platform. A few times I've had items damaged or missing during shipment, and Amazon just sent me a new item without needing me to return them.

spec sheet max temp means the maximum it can go, limit of its operation. the software detected max temp is the highest temp it has recorded from the hdd, so your hdd is still working fine

$ per GB, HDD is still the cheapest. If your backup is few TB it's cheaper to use HDD, also if slower time to backup compare to SSD is not on issue for you.

As long as not SMR type. Need to check the model to avoid SMR.

i hv a couple of 3.5 HDD lying around, and plugging it into the PC will be too much work due to the nest of cables.

Any reliable and compact external toasters to recommend for infrequent use

i got one Toshiba 2TB. Its hardly been used. Suddenly I cant access the data anymore. Can see the folders, some data can read, some cant. Also will restart file explorer.

what can I do? I have not been using windows for a long time so forgotten all the stuff.

Hi sifus. Please critique my NAS set up to back up photos and videos from me and wife phone.

I have a RPi4, connected to two WD Blue 1TB HDD using cheap Maiwo docking station.

The first WD Blue is the main HDD. The second is the clone. I clone once a month manually using Rsync.

The Pi and HDD is not always on. Only on when we need it.

Please criticise. Thank you.

What app are you using to backup from phone to NAS? Cloning to the second HDD may not be as safe since it is running on the same system, any hardware failure affecting one HDD will affect the other too. Nonetheless still an extra backup copy in case primary failure. Add also periodic SMART tests on both HDD to check their health

they calculate how long ssd last using TBW

If the tbw is good then should be fine.

My Samsung 850 pro ssd died after 10 years. The warranty exactly 10 years. 1 month after warranty expired it died sad.gif
