The clean simple front which is divided into the upper display part and the keypad portion, using different colours which gives a kind of "slider" phone feel.

user posted image
Simplicity design is applied on the back as well. The camera lense with the speakers at the side which some how reminds me of N91. Self portrait mirror is adsent.

user posted image
On/Off button is located on the top. It has nice feedback when pressed.

user posted image
Mini usb jack with rubber cover, 2.5mm earphone jack and the charger slot.

user posted image
2 MP Camera, its the average 2MP like every other nokia.
The speaker is loud enough even in noisy environment.
The sound quality is same with my 5300 Xpress Music, u can hear the presense of the bass.

user posted image
Nothing on this side, just the LED light

user posted image
The Volume rocker is located at the right together with another LED light

user posted image
user posted image
The protruding keypad is very responsive and it gives a very nice tactile feedback.
Great for heavy sms users..
And it lights up in blue which blends well with the default Nokia theme.

user posted image
The LED light at each side LIGHTS UP to inform user on missed call/sms. Very useful.

As u can see here, the little scratches are made by ME. Yes.
When u remove the cover too regular, THAT will happen.
And u can even see black little paint on the stainless steel cover itself.
So, future 6300 users, take note on that.

user posted image
It took me a while to find the memory card slot...
Support up to 2GB microSD.

user posted image
The Dpad is very easy to deal with. NO prob here.
Its a finger print magnet from the back to the front..

user posted image
The pouch comes in the package which is nice but hard to use..
i tried putting in the 6300 and i need to PULL very hard to take it out..
I guess i need to put something in to expand the size a little.

Its the current slimmest Nokia

A short video on the UI

I like :

smile.gif what else? the slimness/design of course

smile.gif The built quality of 6300 is thumbup.gif. Nothing is loose, the battery cover is tightly shut, no squeaky sound or anything. I can even break my 6288 into half with 6300.

smile.gif Keypads are nice to press.Very responsive with nice tacticle feedback.

Dont like:

sad.gif The battery cover is kinda hard to remove/close sometimes.
sad.gif The phone especially the earpiece area gets warm during long conversation (>30 minutes)

Nice close up views on the mobile. Just got few questions

1) Price on this phone?
2) Will the phone feel hot with the stainless steel back?
3) Are the buttons easy to key in?

I know you might've just gotten it so not enough time to play around. Do let us know once you've tested it. Thx alot...! biggrin.gif

Edit: Ok, you've managed to edit and answer some of my queries.. tongue.gif

Rayzrblade, when someone calls me, the ringing of my 6300 is going from soft then loud. It's not ascending, but a sudden burst of loudness after like 5 seconds of soft ringing. Are you experiencing the same 'problem'?

Not too sure if it's a problem or it's Nokia's intention to not shock the user when a call comes in.

hey i have the similar problem in N 6233 too!
yahyah, it is not 'ascending', it is under 'ringtone',
kind of annoying as the sound will suddenly burst to very loud
i set the ringtone volumn at 4 level only.

Well I guess it's intentional then. My K800i always scares me when my phone rings, especially when it's quiet at home.

then its totally up to which design u like ...
been using 6300 for 2 days, its a good phone, fits just right in my palm unlike my Slvr L7. The crisp and bright screen, makes me wanna say "wow" whenever i use it.
Other than the phone warm up during long calls..everything else is all good.

Different class. 8800 is a high end phone.

6300 targets the business segment instead.

Very cool phone, I loved it the first time I saw it on the papers. Seeing the real thing at the Nokia shop made me love it even more. Have not felt this way since SonyEricsson's T610.

Unfortunately it's not S60, so it does not match my phone usage... oh well...

quick feedback here... i absolutely love the phone. From the feel of it to it's ease of use. To me it seems like a phone that's designed for an experience as opposed to a purely practical viewpoint (which it handles fantastically).

There is only one thing that has frustrated me so far. It ma y sound lame... but i have yet to work out how to openup the mini USB cover. Can anyone help me out here?

Picked one up last week to replace my 6230i. Battery life isn't that great, bear in mind its the same battery used originally in the 6100. Definitely need to charge it after each day as it won't make it through 2 days.

As mentioned by the thread starter, battery cover is metal and I have some reservations as to how long it may last. My last experience with a metal back cover was with the 8855 and after some time it would get loose as the metal sides wear out.

Speakerphone is a bit weaker than the 6230. On the 6230, the speakers are front and side whereas on the 6300 the speakers are front and rear. With the speakerphone activated, sound will come out from the rear so you have to flip the phone over in order to hear clearly.

Screen protectors are available for this phone. Picked one up for rm24(I think I overpaid) at Low Yat.

As mentioned by others already, the build quality and design plus a reasonable price(rm1050-1080)is what makes this phone attractive.

since this phone's price is the same as n70 music edition (with 1GB mc and nice headset), in what way would this phone beat the n70?

Added on February 13, 2007, 12:30 pmuser's opinion of course, i could also look up at gsm arena. =)

*
QUOTE(panasonic88 @ Feb 8 2007, 03:35 PM)
hey i have the similar problem in N 6233 too!
yahyah, it is not 'ascending', it is under 'ringtone',
kind of annoying as the sound will suddenly burst to very loud
i set the ringtone volumn at 4 level only.
*
I had this problem with 3230. It ascends and suddenly feels like its blaring. It was in normal setting. Hmm... anyone else been to shop to test it out can confirm for 6300 too?

AFAIK, it beats N70 ME only by age (it's newer!), design (which is subjective), and screen (size & resolution). N70 much more productive.

The keypad on the 6300 is a bit tiny. I find that I need to use my nails sometimes to press the keys. I would guess the 6233 has a bigger and therefore better keypad for sms'ing

If sms is what you do most, then you should wait for the new 3110 Classic (coming soon) and see. It look to have quite comfortable keypad...

I find tat the LED blinked twice and stop. No more light. Is it the correct behavior? Will the LED blink again if I leave the phone as it is?

Btw, who has good method to remove the "scratches" on the stainless steel back cover falling short of polishing it? smile.gif

It blinks more frequently for missed calls. For sms, it blinks less often maybe once every 10 to 15 seconds. I didn't time it so I could be wrong.

I don't think so. Couldn't find anything in the manual or menu. As for the rear cover getting scratched it doesn't bother me. My only concern if it becomes loose over time like my old 8855.

Mine had the gprs settings pre-installed, what about yours? Maybe you should call your telco and have them send to you via sms the gprs settings. Or try a friends sim card that has gprs activated and see what happens.

I did have this problem once but it "cured" itself after one day. Called maxis to see if there was a problem with their gprs network but they said it was fine.

for normal usage, the phone can last 2 days maximum before you need to charge the battery again.

for me, i listen to music for about 4 hours, sms a bit, talk on the phone for 40 minutes... so i gotta charge every night. sweat.gif

Not really, depends on your needs la.

'New' GSMArena review not too kind.

Nice for what its designed for though. Nearest competitor, $pec wi$e is W880i but that come$ with 3G, dun really like the button$.

Does anyone know how to use Nokia PC Suite to backup my contacts from phone to my notebook for this phone?

When I synchronise it only uploads my outlook contacts to my phone and I can't seem to backup contacts from my phone to my notebook.

I also tried using Oxygen Phone Manager but it doesn't seem to work with 6300.

I first had my attention to this phone during an ad in the cinema.

Yesterday, took my mom shopping and informed her about this slim phone which she would probably like.

true enough, she bought it there and then at a price of Rm1099(Zitron) with a 256mb micro SD card.

guys, i saw some people questioning this phone lack of 3G and poor battery

this phone is an option for people who doesn't need 3G, like me, who just want to use phone for contacting people, not looking at their ugly faces smile.gif if wanna see their face i just contact them by my nokia 6300 and ask them to meet me somewhere...

about the batery power, why do u need to have a phone standby more than 3 days??? are u a nomad or travelling to 4th world country which don't have a plug point?

so this phone is cool enough for minimalist who don't like to carry a 'brick' in their pocket

Question/Problem:
Okay when i got my phone, i can input English & Chinese, so do my system language.
But i go reinstall the firmware, with Nokia Updater, from Nokia.com.
And then, my input only left English, and the system language got English & another one i think is india alike language.
My chinese input is gone, but i still can see chinese characters.
So what should i do in order to get back chinese input?

The camera is below par for a 2 MP camera. Of course the k550i has a better camera.

Sample picture taken with 6300 at best setting.

Anyone have issues with secondary chargers? I bought a second charger (original) from Hello Station. It emits a high-pitched tone from the charger unit itself and the phone won't charge when it's like this. Re-plugging the charger unit to the phone sometimes causes the phone to hang.

I would say this phone is quite good for users that do not need 3G. Simple, small and stylish with brilliant 16million colours screen. There's a downside though. The metal braise behind the phone can get scratch easily. Battery life is acceptable if you don't play with the camera too often.

You need to enter the folder you want the files to be moved to by pressing the '>' or 'right' button of the D-pad. smile.gif

One more thing, is it worth upgrading the firmware of the phone? The firmware of my phone now is quite old (last year). Thanks.

I'm sure you can get a better deal.

I bought mine last month for RM1090 (original) free 1GB microSD and I didn't even shop around.

I think I could have gotten a better if I hadn't bought from the first shop I went.

I am in Penang. The leather pouch that comes with the set is a little tight.

Attached Image
I bought myself a sock pouch to prevent scratches. I think most handphone acessories shop should carry the sock pouch.

Just bought this 6300 last week.. very impressive.. i have updated the firmware to the latest ver 04.71 and it support chinese language (for those who asked whether this latest firmware support chinese language or not)..

But, after i upgraded it.. i dunno.. what are the different from previous ver of firmware.. its look like the same..

And.. i oso bought spare battery (not ori) SUN -U branded i think.. this battery have longer lifetime compare to my origanal time.. and it used Li-polymer which claimed have better lifetime compared to Li-ion...

I lost my 6300 pouch!!!! sad.gif Somebody want to sell it let me know yaa....

fit perfectly and u can take in and out smoothly..
trust me u can really feel the difference..the first batch pouch is too tight, hard to get in..need superman strength to get it out..

BOTH designs are the SAME.

the question is not bout the price..the main prob is..i dont think u can get it anywhere except getting a new 6300.

It comes as a package. doesnt sell separately like those 8800s pouch..just my opinion..maybe u can ask the nokia shop.

i just got my 6300
i have a problem

The music doesn't seem to load at all

It just show me the "starting music player" window then switch to the "updating music library" window, the status bar move from 0 to 100% very fast

But then it switched back to the "starting music player" again after that "updating music library", the status bar increase from 0 to 100% swiftly again.

The cycle repeats for many times for about 15 minutes before i get annoyed and click quit...

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with the music player?!

remove battery..and everything leave it for 10 minutes,
then on it back..if the problem still exist,
i would advice u to bring it to the nearest service center to let the technicians have a look at your problem
(thats what Nokia careline will tell u laugh.gif )

If u dont want to use 2.5mm - 3.5mm converter, u can find some forumers in Audiophle to recabling and moded the 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack for you... rclxms.gif

Okay, thanks for the information. One more thing, I notice in the 'Configuration' menu under the 'Settings' menu, I can choose either Maxis or Maxis 3G for my 'Default Configuration Settings'. My 'Preferred Access Point' also has Maxis WAP 2.0 and Maxis 3G WAP. Does this mean I can use 3G or it's just a setting? Thanks once again. smile.gif

subang parade or car4 should have since so many handphone shops there..

I've gone to Subang Parade a few days ago. No luck. Apparently, the sellers there didn't even know what I was talking about if I mentioned the phrase 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio jack converter. I had to slowly explain. When they realised what I wanted, they said 'Sorry, we don't have it'.'

Yeah, they didn't even know what I was talking about. Novacell sells the pop-port to 3.5mm converter though. Since some of the storekeepers were busy with other customers, I only went to those which I didn't have to wait. I was in a hurry that time. I guess I'll go to some other places and find. What do you mean by 'lala' stall? It's alright. At least you made an effort and gave me some useful information. Your review also made me buy this phone. smile.gif

for this type of converter.. u need to go to audio shop.. nt phone shop... i bought mine at best... cost me rm10... i think there's someone sellin it too at trade section..

to andyjyneo, i'm nt sure whether do u notice this few things on the old firmware:
1) icon on sub menu tends to enlarge when u scroll trough it
2) the side bar will appear as a long bar though the sms is 2 pages long
3) the blue led lits up quite long if got any event

the new firmware (04.71):
1) icon size remains when scrolling trough
2) if sms is 2 pages long, the side bar will appear as a small bar instead of a long 1
3) blue led lits up much more shorter time, in other words, they just blink
4) better music library menu surfing

Well, your review was quite comprehensive. Besides, there was a video showing the interface of Series 40 version 3. This is the first time I'm using it and I fell in love with it. Anyway, is it normal for the phone battery to get slightly hotter when I listen to music? I noticed this when I was using my 3.5mm earphones (I just got my 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter). The phone cover became a bit hot when I was listening and I decided to take it out. I'm going to try later using the stock 2.5mm earphones. smile.gif

bcos this phone is too HOT to handle.. laugh.gif

well, even when talkin on the phone, the phone will heat up as well..

All these colours are official from Nokia? No offence but in my opinion I feel the original silver colour is still the best. Maybe because of the picture, other colours don't stand out. smile.gif

Same here. No matter how hard I try to protect phone, I still get tiny scratches. Luckily they are not obvious, but a closer look reveals everything. I wanted to get a crystal casing but this will spoil the looks of the phone. Well, that's the price I have to pay for the phone to look stylish. biggrin.gif

Yeah. I'm using the leather casing all the time. I also have a pouch to carry my earphones and an anti-static cloth. As you know, the phone is a fingerprint magnet.

Just bought a piece of screen protector 2 weeks ago. The guy didn't do a good job, there are several spots which are not well stuck. But at least it still gives protection to the screen albeit it doesn't look really nice.

You use a piece of screen protector at the battery cover part? Sounds good. Actually, I'm looking for something to stick on the camera lens to prevent from being scratched. Any ideas? I can use a piece screen protector but the trouble is I need to cut it into the right size.

After some flashing, I was able to revert my phone software to asia's version.

However, the stupid memory card disappearing issue cannot be solved yet, sigh...

I have a problem with me, I downloaded the Vocabulary set from Nokia website, with EC.DAT and CE.DAT file, i followed the instruction by making a folder Dictionary in the memory card, but it still don't work and i dunno how to make it work, anyone guide me please?
Thanks...

it could be a memory card issue... check the gold connectors, any dirt... or oil... or swap dif memory card and try first...

or wait for new firmware to sort...

mine is fine... only wondering why normal size fonts is bigger then the normal in 6233... + cant do small fonts in contacts... other then that, love the slimness...

1. the pouch shouldnt be that tight anymore..i think urs should be the first batch.
2. go get the biggest screen protector, and stick it on the metal area. it works for me.
3. my up button is a bit harder to press then others...but overall..its alright.

When did you get your phone? What old connectors do you mean? The memory card one or the gold connectors inside the phone?

You can get it from the nokia website, it have various version. However the problem is, even after you download and follow the instructions, you could not use it, the file is .DAT, both EC.dat and CE.dat.

I hope someone could guide us...

I had sent a VIDEO CLIP (7.2MB) from my previous phone SE K610i to this phone....The video format is 3gp, sound format is aac.
But it only can play the sound, no video image at all..
How to let me view the video by then?
My previous phone can view it without any problem la..

I have a major problem with this phone which I just bought.

How do I increase the sound of the keypad and alarm clock? The ring tone plays fine I guess, games sound fine too. Volume is max (10), ring tone is max too.

The volume of the keypad and alarm is really faint, have to put the ear near the speaker to hear it. I think something must be wrong with mine but thought I'd just ask here. Anyway I did a search and did not come with any results.

Thanks

I really like this phone. =) Actually what bothers me is the finger prints stick easily on the steel. So, should i just use crystal case or get a big screen protector? The screen protector method you mean was cut it out and stick on the steel area behind the phone? I was thinking, if i use crystal case, then i can't keep it inside pouch lo.. T.T

According to Nokia Support Discussion and GSM-Forum, firmware V 05.00 for Nokia 6300 has been released. But according to Nokia Software Updater, my phone has the latest firmware version which is V 04.71. Is it because Nokia hasn't updated its server yet? hmm.gif

My sis just bought this phone at MayBank Treat Fair for RM894 with free Nokia BH100 bluetooth.

By the way, that set is Sapura, and the sales rep told me that they are one of the authorized distributor. is it true?

Just wondering, how do u clean this thing? The middle of the keypad is full of dirt and tiny particles.

To increase battery power ~ a lot more, use a black backgrounded theme.
Just lose the pictures can increase bettery life.

Use a theme with no animation, no fancy colors, just black color. That includes the wallpaper.
This phone really makan a lot of battery power because of its pixel colors.

Yet by making my own black theme, I managed to use mine for 3 days.

nokia theme studio..... ? or use extract it and understand the .xml file

it is not that hard...u will learn how to do it in a short time.... biggrin.gif

Just go here. All the info will be there for u.

I just don understand why the writer or the guide say "hacking" .nth is simply a zip file which renamed to .nth

The main core is the .xml file just open it up with any notepad and read it, then one will know wat to do next by editing the name of wallpaper according to the wallpaper name that wan to be set. as well as screensaver etc...

just some simple thing but the writer makes it sounds like something hard.....

Nokia 6300 -
Pros:
Nice sharp clear and lots of color screen (320x240)
Steady phone (has not hang when i'm using)
Slim size (thinnest phone nokia has)

Cons:
Low battery life
No infrared
Cannot change housing

I've never used k550i, so u have to judge yourself smile.gif

If housing can change - means have to open up the phone and void warranty?
I dont see any release ejectors for the housing covers either.

this seller is not honest and very problematic..
he is gtoracer1 in lelong and is famous for this rudeness....
in lyn have some thread special create for him in tradezone dispute too..
yes...as doomx say, the price he give is not real.
you can't get your phone just by this price, you need to trade-in your phone to him first.....
Else, add RM30!

I got my 6300 yesterday.. it is a surprise gift from my gf.

Love it very much. She bought it at RM715 come with pouch. Bought an extra 1GB MicroSD for RM50. So total is RM 765.

As what the TS has said, the stylish looking and slim phone really looks attractive.

Glad to have this phone...

I have downloaded the iphone theme for my new 6300... hmm looks abit like iphone now... I like the screen saver which displays the apple symbol.. looks very stylish.

But I found out one thing which does not impress me.. the mini USB cover. It is so hard to open... I have to open up the cover which basically defeats the purpose of the mini USB to take the cover.

Anyone of u having this problem??? How to overcome it?

No worries. Take note that the # which engages the silent profile isn't working. Nokia will have this problem rectified in the next firmware. smile.gif

This phone rocks, and will continue to rock until I get my iPhone smile.gif

If you have this phone, make sure you install the latest version of Opera (beta) -- the web browsing is superb and you can zoom in and out of pages.

My only quirks with the phone is the battery only lasts for 3 hours, it gets hot fast, and no 3g. The camera is okay as long as you have light.

Other than that, the phone is great for the price.

My only quirks with the phone is the battery only lasts for 3 hours, it gets hot fast, and no 3g. The camera is okay as long as you have light.

Other than that, the phone is great for the price.
*
True, battery doesn't last long as it's on BLC-4.
Sorry, noob question...
Btw, where to get latest opera (beta)? Pls guide. TQ.

Hmm... I notice that some of the games like Johnny Crash Does Texas has horizontal lines on this phone. The rest of the phones are okay. Is it just me or something?

hi everybody biggrin.gif
new N6300 user here...sold my moto v3xx after 3 months using it...feel bored with it I guess laugh.gif

actually I've been a nokia hater since 5-6 years ago...my last nokia phone was 6510...before that 8250 and 3310...

felt interested on this hp after reading through this thread laugh.gif

only few hours using this hp I think it's a good hp...but it loses to v3xx in term of display quality and sound from the speaker

and I love the keypad...great for sms-ing thumbup.gif

I regret buying this phone...the reviews doesn't really justify it.

Yes...it's a nice phone in terms of looks...but the software disappoints.

My personal disappointments as follows:-

1. Cannot do hard reset myself. Have to send to Nokia service centre to be done.

2. The ringtone volume is very low

3. The alarm volume is very low

4. Battery life SUCKS! I'm a very light user (don't talk much on the phone)...got bluetooth turned off, power save on, sleep mode on. Charge the battery overnight...by the next evening, 50% gone already. The specs lists...Talk time up to 3.5 hrs., Standby time up to 336 hrs. This is pure BULLSHIT!

5. Everytime I create and then send an SMS, I have to select EXIT to quit the screen after the message sent.

6. The volume on the included wired headset is very low. Can hardly hear the other party talking.

got my 6300 yesterday @t RM690 with 128m+pouch+stereo headset+cheapo plastic case+ box + rtfm.

stuff which annoy me.

1)Ring tone were kinda soft although i crank the volume to 10.. my old moto v360 and L7 sounds better, clearer n stronger on loudspeaker sweat.gif

2)When ppl calls, ringing tone does not rang at full volume but in a ascending manner although on setting i had set it to "ringing" .. a bug on the system perhaps... hrmm

------------

problems ?
-camera abit problem during nite times even i'm shooting in a well lighted enviroment , black stuff tend to be greenish when captured .. Defect or it's normal ?

firmware/software version 5.00 27-04-07 RM217....

overall it's a nice phone, simple and elegant tongue.gif

pretty much agree with you especially on the battery issue, standby 336hour were utter bullshit, i let mine 2 charged overnite, the next day 9am-5pm i made less then 11 calls (average 5min per call) and 0 SMS ... in the afternoon around 3pm i had 50% power remaining .. after office hour i play few mp3 and the phone went totally black out around 8pm.

bluetooth OFF
power saver ON
sleep mode ON
voice clarity OFF
GPRS/ EDGE OFF

hmm i dunno bout you ... but i have gone through almost everything in this thread and gone through a few reviews and roughly know what i am expecting from this phone ... everything u mentioned here are all stated in the forums and reviews ... camera quality, batt life ... and basically anything bout the phone ...

cant blame you if bought the phone without any reading ... but if have read them and still went on buying it ... then dont complain ...

simple rite ...

well for me i just like its display and small size ... thats all

When you lock your Nokia 6300 by pressing "middle button" then * try to push one time the "NO" button. This trick will put the brightness down in a second instead of waiting a minute. And if you want a more silent tone use your favorate mp3 tune after voluming it down using a wave editor

Well, I bought a new 2GB Micro SD card for my phone. First, I moved all the stuff (applications, themes, games, etc.) I want to the phone memory. Then, I removed the old memory card and inserted the new one, copied all the stuff from the phone memory to the memory card. I think this should work for all the preloaded stuff except Sensor. You can give it a try. As for Opera Mini, you can get the latest version here. Just download the .jar file and copy it into your phone. smile.gif

To earl-ku: I noticed that the earphones' sound quality isn't that good too. My suggestion to you is to make use of the equaliser. This slightly improves the sound quality of the earphone albeit not much. Or you can get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter and plug in your favourite earphones. But I notice that using the 3.5mm converter creates a bit of background noise.

PS: The method mentioned by hanissyazwan is that after unlocking the phone, press the so-called 'red' button which is used to ends calls. This will cause the backlight to slowly fadeaway.

what i would suggest is that instead of using a converter, get a 2.5mm jack and cut the 3.55mm from the earphone and conenct to the 2.55mm wan ...haha

or u can get a 2.5mm male and a 3.55mm female jack, attach this both to a short wire, say 3 - 5 inches, then connect to phone, then with that cable connect to another 3rd party earphone ... i think its better than the bulky 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter ...

bro, u'll need to install the nokia suite which came along with your phone and use the built in phone browser to copy and back up all files form your mem card to your hdd. Restoring those data would be easy .. just cut and paste from your hdd location to your new mem card. Without using the nokia software, all preloaded games n application will be useless. =)

Yes. This phone gets hot easily when you're running tasks that requires a lot of battery like calling, playing games, listening to music, etc.. I also feel that the earpiece part gets hot easily when calling, thus making the ears feel uncomfortable. But I guess this is a small matter since I really like this phone. smile.gif

Hi,

I just got my phone from Vodaphone, Australia, and it is locked to the network. Just wondering if anyone knows if I can unlock the phone with any codes or I have to bring it into a store. And how much will it usually cost me to do so?

I saw that the phone is not easy to obtain codes though.

Thanks for your help!! smile.gif

file u can save no problem.. the thing is u can't install very poweful dictionary program
because the size larger than the phone memory. there is no option to install the
program to your memory card. This phone is slow to browse the gallery, slow to take picture,
battery life time 2 days (no call at all, just about 50SMSs, never use other function except alarm)

Anyone know how much it worth if i trade in this one? the phone just 2 days old

my 2 cents

if u thinking of installing alot software, my advice u stay away from
this phone. This phone only can install small size software,
anything larger than the phone memory will be unable to install.

The only thing good about this phone is Brilliant LCD!! even readable
under direct strong sunlight wow! and the keypad is soft and very
easy to use. ah and not forget the very useful active standby screen.

the bad side, slow operating system, not all Java program can be installed,
u need USB cable to transfer big file, bluetooth can't do it and lastly,
very short standby time even with ultra light usage.

Im using mini USB cable and blutooth. nothing work for me.
i can save the application, but cannot install...
like i said before, any program larger than the phone memory
it wont install, and the file will turn to invalid format for the phone.
what a joke

i have a two ~8MB dictioanry software.. PM me if u want to try
install it.. if u manage to install it, u can list out step by step
how do you install it

A kick into reality. 2GB Micro SD SanDisk (Speed 1.0 MB/s):
The phone will not lag unless u open a long list of files. Now, whats the use of 2GB when (1.) The phone music player play list cannot support more than 84 songs? (2.) The battery doesnt last more than 3 hours while MP3 + sms (3.) Bluetooth transfer is max 70 kB/s, how to fill up 2GB? (4.) The standard speaker is too soft

Updating the software to v5.50 causes my AP phone (#) button; to die. As in terms, switching between silent and general etc doesnt work.

Changing memory card will result in losing all your pretty icons that your original memory card have. Even setting the folder to cmd (+S) for system folder and adding "predef" to the name of the folder will not remove the the predef word in front.

So many websites talking about what iSync... iSync doesnt work with malaysian AP phone. It doesnt with mine

Hmm... More cons!

hey my phone also AP. i updated it to v5.5 on myown once i bought the phone. my # key still can switch from general to silent and vice versa.
not sure whats wrong with it, i saw other forum people having this problem also, and some dont rclxub.gif

the ringing voume is fine for me. however the SMS tone is too way low. i have to put some high pitch rigntone to serve as my SMS ringtone.
the alarm is the worst ever, u cant set the volume. even u waited like it repeated for a few times, the voume still way too low. sigh, i have to go pasar malam to get a alarm clock to serf as my alarm.

another thing i hate is, everytime u switch off your phone, the time and date setting all reset. what a dumb phone on earth. shakehead.gif
i relly my phone as my watch. if my phone battery run flat, i lost the time also. rclxub.gif

once i get this phone, i never really think off changing the memory card. Due to the reason of sucky battery life. i dont think i will use this as my walkman what so ever. changing to E51 soon once it drop below Rm1000.

For the price, this has to be one of the phone out there. It looks stunning and has all the features I want. Although the speaker isn't very loud, this doesn't affect me because i don't use the phone for music smile.gif

5 months passed

best non-symbian nokia phone ever.

downside is super bad battery life. yes, with normal use, my batt last 1.5 days only. that sucks big time

if only nokia make a new firmware that allows settings to lcd brightness and backlight time, it'd help a lot with battery life

note: batt life is worst when play alot with the phone functions, barely 1/2 day. If it's used just for calls then most prolly will last for 2 days.

Anyone who owns this 6300 phone, i really need ur help. I've just sent my 6300 to upgrade to the latest firm ware since the previous one was constantly giving me headache with the bugs and evrything.
The problem is that after I got it back yesterday, I've only noticed today that the blue reminder light doesnt function as it used it. meaning, it doesnt blink anymore even when I have missed called or received messages as it should do.
Is there any alert setting that i have to turn on in order to have it functioning back? If so, where is it located? Anyone, if u have the knowledge in this, care to enlighten me? its very important since this function is very helpful to me.

yes lo. battery life is really bad as its using a small bl-c4 battery. some people do force in a bl-c5 battery in to solve this problem.

as for mp3 and games. i dont recommend because of the battery life.

the screen's high resolution sucks up alooot of battery. thus yea.

and the heat problem can be caused by the phone material. stainless steel metal. metal gets ionized and consume alot more power. this is what i know. anyone know how else to deal with the battery problem? it'd be good. biggrin.gif

Yes. You need to enable the "Light Effects" function in the profiles. Go to Settings, Profiles, then select the profile, change the Light Effects setting to "On". Hope this helps.

yes lo. battery life is really bad as its using a small bl-c4 battery. some people do force in a bl-c5 battery in to solve this problem.

as for mp3 and games. i dont recommend because of the battery life.

the screen's high resolution sucks up alooot of battery. thus yea.

and the heat problem can be caused by the phone material. stainless steel metal. metal gets ionized and consume alot more power. this is what i know. anyone know how else to deal with the battery problem? it'd be good. biggrin.gif

force to bl-c5? is it will bring any side effect? affraid can explode lol

i love the black colour one, wan to purchase this phone at end of the month.. >.<

I have a question here.

Can store the messages into the memory card of Nokia 6300 or not?

I text alot, the current phone im using now can store up to 1k of messages but it lags like hell. Im hoping by getting 6300, it will b easier for me to reply texts without lags and can store lotsa messages.
