How do u know me get bullied? Intro urself to me bro... Mayb we can meet...

Anyway guys need an opinion.... My testing boss, told me dat next week i will be no longer in testing, they will reloacate me to SMITH-Schlumberger...as they need personnel... The newly bought company Smith deals with drill bits n stuff..... So, what do u guys think? Should i join them? Or stay with testing...

hi im from Smith, our company has been brought by slb back 2 years a go. Working with Smith is excellent for me, at 5pm there is no ppl in the office, now we merged with slb....puhhhhh..!! meeting all the time..and i've a lot of pending work.... in Smith, as long as our job done according to the requirement, your boss will not looking afer you. for manager they have golf club membership, personal driver, car (alphard, vellfire, estima) provided. All the previllage now are gone !. Slb still unable to mapping the grade to the smith staff due to the package that smith give to their staff is more than what slb give to their employee. believe me last time our receptionist salary is RM3000 just answer the phone (we have direct dial # instead). She's quit already due to this merger give her more work.
im just warehouseman with my salary almost 5 numbers... last year they offer me to move to their other segment but the salary is less about 2.5k sad.gif from what i get in smith but they said slb medical/insurance package is more with what i get in smith(i agreed with this)... but still my salary will reduce.

Good thing that there was no offer from them. I wouldn’t recommend based from what I have heard from people who’s working there. Maybe the plant setup is still new, but I noticed a lot of double standards. For instance, when we travel from Penang to Norway, their daily allowance was only RM100/day. McDonald’s in Norway is about RM80/meal. So, go figure. Conversely, when they travelfromNorwayto Penang, they were given RM500/day. Again, go figure.

This company is also the only company who have the most stringent rule when comes to driving. For instance, one cannot drive >15km/h within the factory compound. C’mon, my apartment’s and most company’s internal compound speed limit is already set at 30km/h. And they really enforced that infamous 15km/h rule. So how does the security proves that you drive >15km/h? There’s no concrete proof that one have violated the speeding rule. So, if the security guard don’t like you, he/she can just simply say that you are driving >15km/h.

Another interesting rule is, one MUST reverse park & before reverse park, one must horn first to let people around you (if there’s any) that you are reversing. Every staffs must take driving test which is conducted every 2-3years. Their driving test is 10x more stringent than our JPJ driving test.

Some of the managers have the tendency to throw the blame on you for the mistakes that they made.
*
not only there la...shell oso have this rule...

within compound 15kmh..must reverse park...under no circumstance should you be driving and using your phone (that includes using hands-free kit)..must wear seatbelt (even when already drving at 15kmh)... i think exxon same.... tongue.gif

Usually, there are 2 ways of application, either through online application(www.slb.com) or drop ur resume during career fair e.g UTM/UTP Career Fair.Be patient,SLB's recruiting process takes such a long time, but depends on the position that u applied? smile.gif

I applied for a chemical engineer position. Did it last month, and i think accidentally re-applied few days ago. All done online through their website. Lol. I have an offer in an oil & gas company at the moment and will be starting soon but still waiting for other offers if there are any coming my way.

opps sry,

the job profile is Research, engineering, manufacturing and sustaining (REMS). There were a list of engineering disciplines to choose from but I don't think they are positions, but probably qualifications or something which is related to the Job profile. smile.gif

Just grab any offer that you got for this time being,if you aim to work with SLB,just continue your effort & don't give up,as I said, hiring process will take quite some time. Most of recent graduates prefer to apply for Field Engineer/Specialist. But,there are also many other positions that available. For details, refer to their website.

True that. However, the current position offered to me is a commercial area position (market assessment, risk mgmt, commercial plan etc.) which gets me thinking would it be suitable for me since I am from a chemical engineer background. I know engineers work in various field and not only engineering. But as a starting to my career, would it be a good choice to go into the commercial area?

But I would most probably accept it anyways.

Was it your first job offer? If yes, from my point of view, just accept it for this time being & at the same time also look for another job that related to ur qualification. As a fresh graduate/entry level,u can go to various fields/industries.If u still interested to join SLB,why don't u try to apply for Field Engineer position since graduate from any engineering course can apply for that position.

Yeaps, it's my first offer and I think it would be a good experience learning some new things while on the lookout for any better jobs, if there are any. I believe there still will be some technical side to the position offered to me. Fingers-crossed smile.gif

I would've preferred process engineer tbh but probably I can ask for a transfer later or so. Hmmm, yea might look into field engineering. Cheers!
