understand that, but this rule certainly not applicable in a manufacturing plant as compared to a more high risk area, such as oil rig.
Added on August 24, 2012, 12:54 amWell, from what I heard, none of the staffs were driving SLB vehicles. All of them were driving their own personal car, and still need to take the commentary driving. IMHO, method of parking should be dictated by individuals as practical and safest as possible. Just do a survey of the number of motorists who reverse parked their vehicles in the shopping mall next time.
As for the per diem, the Malaysian staffs were briefed by their Norwegian personnel counterpart. Nothing was mentioned about "pay and claim" option.
Agree on the fact that it's a good place to start one's career. Their management need to improve on their under-trained managers. (i.e. : new managers who were not from manufacturing experience taking up manufacturing role especially during new factory setup, HR manager who was a secretary previously, managers who blamed the subordinates for their own mistakes, etc.)
Sorry for late response

busy here in Kuwait, not much time for LYN.
You take a census at a shopping mall car park, and assume thats the best way of parking?

In most cases, its the 'easiest' way of parking. Reverse parking ensures you have the best visibility when you are going to leave, sure it takes a little more time at the beginning, but your visibility is never hindered.
You can opt for either pay and claim or per diem. One or the other.
Personnel managers differ in background. In most cases the position of personnel maanger is a placeholder for people exiting a new assignment, towards another assignment which hasn't been properly vacated yet, or is used for SLP4 rated employees to brush up on their HR skills

I've had personnel managers from wireline, D&M, SIS, etc etc.
Anyhow, bad managers are everywhere, don't you think?

Anyone knows about the training facilities that slb has, the one I know of is the MLC, middle east learning centre. What about other facilities in other country? Does the company sends trainees to specific training centre such as mudloggers were sent to Dubai (MLC) while wireline engineers were sent to Colombia. or is it random?
Training happens in multiple locations, the 'proper' facilities that I know of are 2 (i'm sure there are more, but i can't think of them right now). MLC and ELC (European Learning Center in Pau, France).
However I have personally been to Houston, Gatwick, Abingdon and MLC for training, and a lot of my other colleagues have been elsewhere as well.
The training isn't random, there is a list of training courses and locations finalized usually end of Q4, and they try and fit you into one that suits your timetable.
HTH.
