No combine, because there's still PSS ongoing and the new PS4S

PS4 Is just upgraded from PS3
*
I mean Michelin tries to make the PS4 more aggressive towards the PSS characteristics while still retaining the excellent wet performance trait of the PS3. Yes PS4S is higher than PS4 and surely even better than PSS but actually in head to head comparison between PS4 and PS4S, the difference is not big where PS4S is still a bit superior in the dry but PS4 is almost as quick and actually more consistent/easier in the wet. Judging by that, I won't be surprised if PS4 can be also match or even slightly beat the old PSS in a straight head to head. That's why PS4 is like combining PSS and PS3 to make an even better tire.

between this and potenza re003, which 1 is better for cornering?

right now cant decide to get this in 225/45 or re003 in 215/45
for 17inch (preve), will the 4inch extra inch make difference lol
*
RE003 is better in dry but V12E2 is better in the wet. Overall I'd pick V12E2 for daily driver tire, especially also since RE003 wears out much faster too while being more expensive.

It will make a noticeable difference if you drive it aggressively, depending on how sensitive you are also.

FYI, I just replaced 4pcs V12Evo2 size of 215/45/R17. Running in for a week now.
Initial expression that the tyre side wall is soft and at current pressure of 35psi.
I might increase the pressure later this weekend.

I would still disagree on this just because they are very different categories of tires.

They aren't like the extreme category where wet is sacrificed for dry, comfort and noise sacrificed for stiffness and performance.

The older PSS would still easily beat the PS4 in dry and most likely wet, probably about similar on noise/comfort but those are more in the subjective side of ratings.

But of course, Max category while trying to showcase what a manufacturer can do with tires, being the top of the line street tires combining every aspects, pricing has always been on the shitty end, as with extreme category for the performance end of spectrum.

Tire Reviews Uk has done the comparison between the PS4 vs PS4S and they're very close! PS4S was faster only because a pro driver driving it but PS4 was more forgiving and easier to control at the limit. So I won't bet that PSS can still easily beat PS4 in both conditions, especially in the wet.

Bro 6UEST,

I'm with V12Evo2 size of 215/45/R17 in Ford Focus.
Initial expression that the tyre side wall is soft and at current pressure of 35psi.
Can I still increase the pressure?

You can increase 1 or 2 more psi to give it a try, but v12evo2 inherently has soft side walls, no additional sidewall reinforcement. Maybe that's why price so damn good.

Go for falken fk510 on your next change which is a very slight premium (for now) japan made tyres against the v12evo2 but with reinforced sidewalls.

Will try increase 2psi and see how it feels.
Thanks for the advice.

Yes V12E2 is a bit soft for high performance tires. Sure you can try increase pressure until you find it better. Tire pressures is always rather subjective anyway, as long as not too low/high. Just also observe the wear pattern to make sure they wear out still evenly.

Actually, what's the recommended tyre pressure for 195/55/15? Some shops pump 33 psi, some 32. And, higher psi or lower psi gives better grip?

Test every pressure yourself (first pump to 40 psi then test if too bumpy then release 1 or 2 psi and then test again), you'll know when you find out the best tyre pressure (for your car).
For the grip in theory is lower psi better, but more risk of blowing the tire if pressure too low....
Im not using v12 but I pump my front tire cold pressure to 38psi, mine tire size is 205/55/R15 thumbsup.gif

Wait a minute, after doing some internet browsing, I just realized that V12 evo2 don't has 215/55/R16 size.... I'm very sad now cry.gif

Questions below not important anymore, because I don't have other choice sad.gif

Hi all sifu2, today i went to a TOYO tyre shop looking for 215/55/R16 tyre, when I ask about Hankook V12 he told me this tyre very expensive so no one sell it... is it true?? Compare to Toyo T1R, CF2 and NE03.

Thank you

V12 tyre expensive???? laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif First time hearing this! People opt for V12E2 is because it's cheaper than it's competitors such as PS4 or CSC5 etc. The tyre workshop foreman is just pulling a fast one on you. However, it is an UHP tyre which doesn't come in smaller sizes like yours.

I went to a Hankook shop looking for V12 but looks like Hankook did not bring in 215/55/R17. Instead I walked away with a set of Primacy 3ST. Suprisingly Michelin is clearing a lot of 2019 manufactured Primacy 3ST until Hankook shop also start selling Michelin instead of Hankook.

I bet the shop owner is trying to brainwash you to buy their carrying brand. Obviously Toyo is much more expensive than hankook v12. Even the old tech T1R is more expensive than hankook v12 evo2. Not to say the new TR1. Some more, comparing hankook v12evo2 UHP with low category such as CF2 and NE03 is irrelevant. If that guy told this to every hankook v12 users, he will be doomed for sure. 215/45/17 for 270/pc. thumbup.gif

V12E2 is better than T1R, not sure if compared to TR1 coz it's still very new but in general Toyo tires are overrated!

always start with the baseline set by manufacturer recommendation, after all, they spent many millions on every aspect of the car engineering, so assume they know best when coming out with this set of tyre pressure numbers.

After that you try +/- the pressure to your taste. Personally, i pump close to the maximum recommended pressure range (full load). Got a very little bit of extra fuel economy on higher pressures.
