Got the notification yesterday (how come it's given via a password protected PDF?) that the RM10 Supplementary Plan is no longer available and I will be moved to RM20 plan next month.

Can Maxis unilaterally do this? What if I wish to remain on the RM10 plan?

Talkmore 28 (200 minutes, 100sms) also force to upgrade to Maxis Talk & Surf 1 (200 minutes, 50sms, 1GB) RM38/month. I only got RM29.68 so how? Will get free Samsung J1 to use the data since sms already decrease.

Looks like we're out of luck guys, the RM10 plan will cease to exist so either move to the RM20 plan, or port out. Not sure if the other telcos have similar plans though.

Maxis what are the possible solution so that I can still use post paid and pay RM10 only. I don't need data. If no solution, then is Maxis suggesting customers to switch carriers and not use Maxis?

Why can't Maxis share here? Why need to PM? Is it another of those "deals" where people who wants to leave gets special treatment? Didn't Maxis learn their lesson last time?

For those who received PM, I just want to know if it's really upgrade to RM20 plan or port out?

I faced the same problem - sent the following email:

Dear Maxis
Rcvd your letter dated 18th Oct regarding plan enhancement and read it with little interest. As the plan in focus is currently used by my 80-yr old dad who basically just needs a 'mobile telephone', the offer was not attractive.
Since your letter did state that "if we do not hear from you by 15 Nov 2016, we will proceed to update your rate plan...", I called you customer service to inform that the offer is great but no thanks.
But to my utter disappointment, you cs rep (Ms.Tini) said that my existing plan would be made redundant and that I will be upgraded anyway. So why give me the choice???

How is this fair marketing and product enhancement??? I am appallled that you treat customers this way - although we have quite a monthly commitment with you (for all my three lines). It is extremely unfortunate and I think you need to re-think who drafts such letters!! I didnt have to bother calling your #123 and only to wait for a call back at 2308.

Unpleasant experience

From a close associate, I was told the Maxis rep informed my associate that "the choice" stated in the letter was actually a misunderstanding on our part. Maxis actually wanted to say that the purported "upgrade/enhancement" will happen whether the customer accepts it or not. Your story only confirms what my associate went through.

I'm alarmed that Maxis reps are only answering queries on this via PM. I mean they dare to put out the new pricing but want to remain ignorant from the repercussions when customer rage on their supposed generous/smart "upgrade". Maxis coins it as an "enhanced" plan but asking consumers to pay and I am sure consumers are smart enough to know when they are being misled. Transparency is dead and they still have yet to learn their lesson in today's internet world.

I would suggest report to MCMC and tribunal of consumer.
If you accept this equal to next year, they can send you an "option" to upgrade to 20gb plan with Rm188, take it or leave it.
Such of unethical business attitude.
And this is not upgrade. We need to pay. In another way to say, we buy it with unreasonable price.

Same here. The letter talks about best 4G coverage and upgraded service (means they have bandwidth overload)but then ask us to fork out the costs. They should just give us free MB if sincere.
I may go on to disect the letter content for all to review and send formal complain to authorities

And yes i made 2 official calls to maxis but am not satisfied with the explanation.

Agreed with bro, sisters here..I applied the supplementary line for my parents for emergency usage. They not required data plan at all and I don't agree with Maxis strategy.

Hence, I started to explore alternative and I found smthing interesting to share here "http://www.redone.com.my/plans/personal/red-plans/" , RM 8 postpaid with RM0.15 sen per usage. Their the MVO (mobile virtual network operators) on Celcom network. It look good to me.Thinking to port out my supplementary lines.

If the coverage is good..then the main line will switch too. Anyone has use Red one before ?

Good idea. One thing though - I thought that you cannot port out just the supplementary lines, you have to do the principal line and the supplementary lines will follow.

To test coverage, just get a prepaid and use for a while. Coverage areas will vary so what's good for me may not be so good for you smile.gif

Redone is a very good alternative for voice only plan. 2G network already covered 98% population in Malaysia. Very good alternative to replace maxis "upgrade" plan.

Latest news....I got the clarification from Red One just. The monthly commitment is RM 8 (which come with 53 min talk time FOC to other telcos). If the usage exceed then only pay RM 0.15 (per minute). What do u think ? This is perfect plan for my parents..

Try to call them 1800 11 0800. Quite friendly the customer support. smile.gif

Apparently no more plans without data.. and no more Surfmore plans, only Maxis One plans are left. Which sucks since I hardly use voice/sms only data.

well...maxis never learn. I have 2 supplementary line for my parent. and they are only using those feature phone and not smartphone. So why the heck i need data for that. So...i guess now, what all we can do is change the supp line to normal line, then port it out to another telco which offer lower fees for supp line. And they won't let you just port out supp line, you need to convert it first.

Maxis.... if you are reading this....please do let us know what other solution you have to remain the low supp line fees

Instead of hoping they will do something - so something ourselves.
There is no such thing as telco plan expired - telcos have hundreds of plans for all existing users. They do not / or cannot just terminate their plans it seems.

During the family discussion, my mum said she doesn't mind upgrading her phone with data but 500mb is not sufficient for one month.
Called Maxis CS yesterday, she said the next upgrade data plan for my mum's phone is Maxis Go at $48 per mth, 1GB/mth...We think that is too much to pay.

Frankly it looks like Maxis is prepared to lose our RM10/mo subs - it's low ARPU for them and they want to focus more on the high-end customers.

Does Digi pre-paid still has 365 validity for RM40++?

Alternative solution, change the sub-line to hotlink and opt for validity 365. Cheaper but more work with prepaid solutions.

I not sure about other process..
In fact I terminate my parent account and move all family line to my account.. not so sure if the supp rm10 still remain as 10 or 98 or any other package ..
I hv to change most of the line cos I go for multi sim as well.. the whole process take me 4-5 hours to hv all maxis sim activate .. my tunetalk still not yet active as I still waiting sms to port out.. but the CS told me should get done within 24 hour

Transparency is dead and they still have yet to learn their lesson in today's internet world.

it is very unfortunate tht such big corps behave this way. I have no choice but to say id' terminate the line but doubt tht even makes a dent in their already bloated bottom line. Anyway am glad to know tht what I am feeling is legit and valid.

Maxis, please take note of my concern.
My mum is using a basic handphone with no internet feature.
Do you think I need the "enriched" plan?
RM10 basic plan is more than enough for a senior citizen.
Think can MNP to Red One already.

Just received the letter to inform me that my Multi SIM for maxis Biz 68 will be increase from RM 10 to RM 20 as well.

I have terminated both Multi SIM and will MNP to Celcom First Platinum.

I had enough...

Similar case here, my elderly is using it and we do not need the so call enhanced plan from maxis. I went to Maxis store today and I need to put my name in the demand list....
If unsuccessful, I will move on all my account to others. This is ridiculous!!!

Interesting! What's the "demand list" supposed to accomplish? Curious.

Made a complaint to CFM and received a call from Maxis to retain the RM10 per month pricing (no updated plan details given so far). So for those of you who are still having issues, try CFM :

I believe those with RM10 plan got the SMS today said that if do not to wish to take up the new RM20 supp plan just call their hotline. I just call them and they say will maintain my RM10 supp plan without upgrading to enhanced plan. smile.gif

I also have a supp line which got automatically "upgraded" to rm20. Called and was told that there is no option to move to rm10 plan. The CS advised me to port out. Will port out all my lines from Maxis. Have been a customer for more than 10 years.

Maxis customer service sucks!!!

Ok. I have a few RM 10 supplementary lines. Will that still be valid? I went to Maxis in Gardens and they told me no more such package. Cheapest RM 48/month...bloody hell.

Also, I want to upgrade one of those lins to the cheapest supplementary line that I can share data with primary line. I just want to use in a child gps watch... Which package or telco package is the best? Rm 48/month damn overkill.

U mobile? But their sim card doesn't support 2G networks which the gps watch needs. Digi or perhaps Redtone RM8/month thing perhaps?

I understand that some folks get to keep their RM10 packages, not sure what the rules are.

If you want to share data, then the RM 15/mo two-sim one-line add-on may work for you?

(that is, if that one is still available shakehead.gif )

Maxis PM already but didn't answer the question on how to remain on the same plan (surfmore 30). Seem like everyone that using surfmore30 will be forced to upgrade to RM38 from 23 March 2017 OR need to change to maxis value surf1 plan 500MB RM20 per month (didn't mentioned whether the call rate will be same) . Received another reminder from Maxis today on the same PDF notification.

oppressor against the oppressed......nothing much you can do.....
rm20/month for 500mb data > take a look at what other telcos can offer you
rm38/month for 3gb data > again take a look at what other telcos can offer you

seems like it's a long overdue goodbye (18-19 years with maxis)

you get to retain the number though....

I was maxis customer 20 years. Just switched all my family lines to digi. My main line under the Digi promotional plan, ending this month end, is rm50 for unlimited calls, 3gb Internet and another 7gb for YouTube and Facebook.

Two of my old Maxis supplementary lines were under surf 30, with a miserable 1gb monthly, and no free calls or SMS other than between family lines. Maxis gave notice "upgrading" them to new surf plan @ rm38 with 3gb. No choice to remain in old surf plan. Forced down your throat. Too much. For both of them... I switched to digi supplementary rm28, 3gb, 50 minutes calls, 50 SMS. Calls and SMS between family free.

For my last old maxis supplementary line which I paid rm30 for years under maxis, there was no data, no calls. Nothing. I switched that to redone for rm8 monthly, with 53 minutes free calls all network. Used mainly by son for tuition, school activities.

Maxis getting too much, their CEO want increase the arpu, without taking into consideration long time customers. When I applied port out only they call me to counter offer. I didn't bother listen to what the chap on the line has to offer.

They want people buy their cheapest package at rm98, then add rm48 to share line. Mad ah? At that price, divided by two, I no need share lines with anyone, can get better deals elsewhere.

when is the plan started? i am the principal line, and had been on RM10/mth subscriptions for my mom. My mom not using data for the phone, so no point to give 500MB data, right?

Hope Maxis will be able to explain further.

Just online chat with Maxis, now they seem to have a RM 10 plan without data plan but more expensive call and sms.

They call it "Basic Advance Supplementary line". I just changed my 2 lines.
