Hello..
in my foyer there is 1 light point on the ceiling..
I plan to install CCTV (Aqara/EZVIZ) with 2 way communication.. since i dont really need to install light there..
Is it advisable to do so? Any recommended camera that can use AC power?.. Saw some video online.. for this smart camera, they are using type C camera and it looks really stupid with the cable dangling around hahaha.. Is there a proper way to do it?

(I planned to use the existing AC power point provided cause dont want to make extra mess or a lot of effort to install smart camera outside.)

Is it plaster ceiling? If not you will need a box to store the DC12 or DC5V adapter. There is also some special make cover that fit perfectly to the camera back for adapter storage if it's a concrete ceiling.

Yeah. Its a plaster ceiling.
I’m planning to get the Aqara camera since im using Aqara smart lock as well. Or another option EZVIZ.
The DC12 adapter i need to buy something like the 3pin adapter? Or is there any other way to hide the cable?

Just hide this inside the plaster ceiling, downside is if need replace got to take out the camera.Just an example
Sorry, yours is a wall? Concrete?

After reading the posts here, I’m likely to go with HIkvision or Dahua. I’m looking for a POE system with 8 channels and  at least 5MP camera resolution. It seems that both Dahua and Hikvision has few POE options for this configuration  after I looked in Lazada and Shopee

Reolink has more POE options but I understand from forummers’ posts that Reolink night time recording is not as good as Hilvision or Dahua

Any recommendation for a POE system from Hikvision or Dahua?

Installed at home

5 outdoor, 3 indoors
2 way audio with active deterrence is OK if it doesn't add too much to the cost

I am about 2 order 2 sets 8ch POE for testing with this features but it'll take about a month plus to reach our shores, are you in a hurry?

Hey kawan, I'm interested in this type of wireless CCTV (for office use):

Xiaomi Mijia PTZ

TP Link

1. What happens to this type of wireless CCTV when they lost connection to Wifi for any reason? Do they stop recording altogether? Or will the footage still be stored in the SD card inserted? By right it will still record(Better ask seller about this)

2. I watched the unbox video here and apparently you need to scan a QR code at the bottom of the CCTV to view the footage from your phone's app. If I'm mounting the CCTV onto the ceiling, wouldn't that be a huge problem? (the QR code will be covered by the ceiling) Pair it before you put on the ceiling

3. Which of the above 2 products (Xiaomi vs TP Link) is better in your opinion? If need to choose between this 2, go for Tapo

Thank you in advance sifus sekalian!  notworthy.gif

and is the cctv works like car dashcam? we use the wifi from cctv to download the video from the apps? Thank you
*
If wifi ip cam, it can act as hotspot, your phone just need to login to the camera SSID to view footages from sdcard.

any model recommend? must get Hik brand or can mixed with other brands?

anyway the ip camera using 12v or 5v?
if 12v may i tap the 12v power from the existing camera voltage ?

thanks ...
*
Normally 12v DC, provided the Amperage is enough it's ok to tap from existing. Can used any ip camera as long as have Onvif but some analytic functions might not be available.

Hi all, thinking of setting up CCTV at home. Seeing some brands like Hikvision, Dahua always quoted here, I engaged a Hikvision salesperson for a quotation as below. Main purpose is just general security and in-house monitoring of maid.

Due to existing wiring (installed many years ago) the person told me I can only use analog camera up to max of 5MP.

Seeking some opinions from sifus here on whether...

The sales might not be knowledgeable or real professional in CCTV. Very likely you can do NVR with IP Camera up to 4K or more unless the cabling is in very bad shape.

I don't have a CCTV system currently, only existing cabling done several years ago (8 CCTV points)..
I see.. the package does seem basic but it might be enough for my needs? Not too familiar with the technical jargons. Is RM2.9k reasonable for my package?
Sorry if questions are dumb, CCTV is something new to me, still lurking around the thread but there is too many pages.
*
For 2.9K I can recommend you installer that can do IP and if you need 2 way audio dual led tri-guard function no need to top up so much brows.gif
But provided you are in Klang Valley only

You need check if it can record 7/24 otherwise if based on PIR motion only will have a chance of missed recordings.
