So if Samsung is going to kill Note7, we may expect either refund campaign or get a free exchange to S8 or Note8 with S7 Edge as interim phone.

I doubt there will be refund campaign in Malaysia. I don't have faith in Malaysia in handling monetary things like refund or whatsoever. It will be a lot of fuss and hassle to the customers. There "lowyat" case will happen again because of some fussy, impatient and arrogant customers.

Regarding the discussion about what phone should be looking for if Note 7 reaaly stop selling, how about the upcoming Huawei device Mate 9? Looking at the specs, I think this can be the closest thing next to Note 7 (minus the curved screen, S-Pen and IP68).

mate series... too big for me. 6"... right?

but the rest... might be ok.

i realised i'm more comfortable with 5.5"...

but as you said... dun even have ip68... **sigh**

The money to refund will come from Korea, just... How to process the refund is another matter, there are telcos plan as well.

I won't pay the difference, the risk and inconvenience caused is already worth whatever difference between the price, in fact, I expect S Gear or 360° cam as compensation too.

Contacted SME through their live chat system and apparently, the refund option is still available.

refund not an issue. refund was an option in the first recall.

so... they can do it. iinm, there were cases for refunds for purchases via telco too.

just that back then, freebies need to be returned.

Ya i know the money will come from the boss of Samsung. But the process in handling the refund in Malaysia..... Sure a lot of hassle and people will take this opportunity to ask for compensate again. You know la Malaysian mentality. Just look at the replacement program last few weeks....

Even it's 6", they always able to make it compact enough. You can look at Mate 8, try to hold it on hand, you will be surprised because it doesn't feel like 6" size at all.

Check this comparison,

I was surprised too when I compared it to my Note 5. Basically it's the same in term of size. rclxub.gif

Really its a huge loss for us if note 7 been halted and our device is collect back, maybe recall to fix our issues?

Recall to refund? I doubt that..

It has been confirmed that Samsung stop production of Note 7. Android Authority, Verge, Techno buffalo, Phonearena GSM arena, posting the same news. This could be the end of Note7. Expecting official announcemnt from Samsung really soon.

We just have to see how things evolve as the instructions to totally refund or replace with S8/Note8 rests with Korea, Malaysia is just following orders. Getting S7 Edge as interim is easier since Note7 production halted, production line to focus on S7 Edge this year.

Ya. I also encountered that issue when i compared it to Note 5. Mate 8 is weaker in term of touch sensitivity. Samsung device is much better when it comes to touchscreen. Anyway, I was suggesting the upcoming Mate 9, not Mate 8. I think they will improve in Mate 9. Of course, need to look for the demo unit first and see how well it performs.

With all the risk and hassle customers have to go through, yes, compensation is a must. Not only Malaysia, but the whole world is expecting some sort of compensation, or risk lawsuit.
