I don't know but after close monitoring with my old faulty unit I had heating issue randomly occurring via the soc itself not the battery and my personal theory was that the soc or the cooling has a flaw and the heat from the chip might cause the general flaw in battery design to blow or start smoking.. I normally perform a hard reset everyone it starts crossing 70 celcius and it will be fine soon after..
*
My pre-replacement unit loves to hang, boot loop and overheats for no reason. There is once it hanged when doing the green battery sign update, it was the hottest it ever been, then I cooled it down with an ice pack. After a day of use, I switched it off and cannot be turned on anymore. According to service centre, the motherboard was cooked. mega_shok.gif

if sell at half price everybody go grab already laugh.gif
*
If Samsung sells Note 7 at half the price with disclaimer and no warranty, no one in their sane mind will buy it (RM1,500 can buy many other reliable phones), Note 7 uncontrollable overheating kills the motherboard of my pre-replacement Note 7 and many battery explosion issues, it is just not worth it even at quarter the price now. I rather have Samsung mandatory buy back all Note 7 and salvage whatever parts they can and make better Note 8, they got 1 extra year to get Note 8 right or go bust.

if it's really issue and they just tweak to minimise... that's still opening up to lawsuit coz that means they know there's an issue and try to hide it.

i dun think samsung that silly to do this. probably, they dun really know what is wrong...
*
Big companies would do it, especially to have better looking quarterly financial reporting.

QUOTE(squall_kay @ Oct 8 2016, 10:49 AM)
Have feeling Sammy will just bury the note7 if they cant solve the issue.
*
Even if they solved the issue, no one would buy it. Many waiting for Note 7, in the end they will buy iPhone 7, S7, P9, etc, either cannot wait for Note 7 or for safety reasons. Samsung missed the opportunity to sell more. We hope that Samsung will buy back all Note 7 from market.

*
The clicking mechanism is wobbly than the pre-replacement... +1

Anyone else, I tried my friend's pre-replacement SPen (he said hilang and just returned the phone and box (w/out sim tray & SPen), pre-replacement SPen is solid AF, no wobble whatsoever, fit nicely.

hi guys, anyone knows when will samsung sell their note 7 back to the market again?
*
With the recent news with post-replacement smoking Note7 in US and Taiwan, I expect Samsung to stop Note7 sales once and for all and buy back Note7 from market, like VW diesel gate. My advice is wait for Note8, saves you all the hassle, worry and inconvenience when taking flight.

May i suggest to completely shutdown the Note 7 thread?

Since not many ppl interested to talk about the phone except for sharing the exploding news/videos etc.

Plus the existing user of Note 7 are not many as the phone have yet to official release etc.

QUOTE(GymBoi @ Oct 9 2016, 05:01 AM)
Agreed .... feel like kopitiam here ... no valuable post for note 7 users .... btw I'm note 7 user .... Been trash since v3 or something .. better move to kopitiam .... i guess more ppl will be interested in the bombs and jokes there
*
How to talk about the phone itself when new exploding post-replacement Note7 news and videos are surfacing almost everyday. Being better aware of these news is good for current owners and potential buyers. The phone itself is no doubt a great phone to use, but now the safety of users holds even greater concern especially post-replacement phones are still exploding.

My guess for Samsung next move is they will kill Note7 production and sales. Note7 reputation is permanently dented now with post-replacement units still exploding. Moreover, there are more competitor flagship launched and selling, iPhone 7 and Google Pixel, no confirm date of when Note7 will start selling again. Note7 ban on flight is the biggest hindrance to anyone buying it and no doubt the ban will extend to the post-replacement unit as well. Samsung will try to buy back existing Note7 from the market and focus on Note8 development. It will definitely dent Samsung Q4 profit for sure, but it is better than hefty lawsuits and future Samsung phones sales ban in many market if Note7 explosion involves human lives.

and we're leaving it to them to investigate and sharing the news here...

after all, with some users having their head buried in sand, even if result is bad and there's total recall, these users might be too self-deceived to even know that coz all the info they talk about is all the sweet rosy and positive.

as long as i have not sold off my note7... i'll still be around here... smile.gif

I haven't use my Note7 yet.

What is the common manufacturing date for Silver?

Sharing exploding pre-replacement Note7 news and videos after recall replacement date is definitely troll and flame bait, but sharing smoking/exploding post-replacement Note7 news and videos is great information sharing and product awareness. I am very keen on what Samsung game plan now.

I wonder why the owner refuse to give the device for checking.  Since it is destroy, no point in keeping it. The whole thing sound abit fishy.  Just wait how Samsung response to it. Isn't CPSC getting involve in investigation?  If there is really a problem in replacement Note 7, CPSC will ensure Samsung recall the product. Not point in worry about these unverified story yet.

QUOTE(Max2006 @ Oct 9 2016, 03:56 PM)
2 possibilities. Either that owner was lying about something, or that owner does not trust Samsung and he was afraid that samsung may cover it up.
*
This is technically the first post-replacement Note7 explosion. From the message, it seems that Samsung tried to cover it up, then come the airline smoking incident. No way Samsung is able to cover up the airliner case.

wanna ask all comrades, if let say, if eventually, samsung decides to terminate note series, and ask you to return note 7. what will you do? i seriously can't find any phone to replace beloved note :'(
*
There is a possibility that Samsung will kill Note7 sales and start buyback/exchange programs due to bad and irreversible reputation of Note7. It is just not worth the manpower, time and money to try and get it right again at this point and development work on Note8 should be halfway done by now. But Samsung definitely won't kill the Note series. I might return my Note7 to Samsung instead of selling it off to another victim (me myself is enough), use back my Note2 and wait for Note8.

Of course, I hope Samsung could provide S7/S7 Edge as interim phone and exchange for Note8 next year. So basically, current Note7 users will get Note8 next year in exchange for all the risk and inconvenience imposed to us. This will give better Note7 users a great bang for their buck and loyalty.

this.. I like and I can agree. I think I can still go with  note8.. bit having seen how useless the pen can be with curved edges and I understand curved screen might be the only thing Samsung provide for flagship, I might just just get s8, if we get offered a decent deal for it

btw, I moved from note 2 as well..

just dread having to go back to it.. partly coz I need to get new battery for it. it's bloated up.. **sigh**

but ya, note 2 is still one good phone.
*
Either provide S7/S7 Edge as interim phone, or repair our old Notes for free if we upgrade from these (I doubt they will, where to find old Notes spare part nowadays?).

Well the irony is those not owning NOTE 7, keep SHARING the EXPLODING news etc.

If you are not owning Note 7 why should it be a concern to you and keep sharing the news on here? Go kopitiam section pls?

Back to the phone, overall performance & battery chun chun.

Gaming & charging simultaneously especially on Unreal Engine 4 games.
*
Post-replacement Note7 unit exploding news are okay, can't change the fact that post-replacement Note7 units still continue to explode (intentionally done by the owner or not is another matter, but it did explode). Note7 safety reputation is as good as dead now, I wouldn't be surprised if everywhere is imposing Note7 ban on their premise, can't blame the owners or operators.

Now the next important question is, what is Samsung's game plan the current Note7 market and how we Note7 users can fight for better compensation equivalent for the risk and inconvenience imposed on us.

I sure hope the timeline is as follows:
2016 - Exchange Note7 with interim phone S7 Edge (everything performs the same except w/out the SPen) and more freebies/goodies (VR, 360° camera, or SGear)

2017 Q1 - Option to exchange interim phone S7 Edge with new S8
or
2017 Q3 - Option to exchange interim phone S7 Edge with new Note8

It will dent Samsung profit for 2016/2017 (its going to be bad anyways) but this move can able to better retains the loyal Note users in market and let it be a good PR campaign for Samsung, that Samsung still take cares of its loyal users although Samsung f* up something.

That's only for US. If counting Taiwan and Korea as well, so far:

US: 3 (under investigation)
Taiwan: 1 (already give back to Samsung and refunded)
Korea: 3 (1 confirmed is replacement unit, the other 2 still unverified)
*
That is just about 1 week after replacement exercise. OMG... I thought there are 3 units worldwide.

QUOTE(Max2006 @ Oct 10 2016, 12:30 AM)
That's why there are some speculations saying that the problem is not coming from the battery itself, but the phone design or other component parts.
*
If a partial redesign is required, might as well focus on Note8 development. Note7 will be bad in terms of sales from now on, even if they able to pull another recall, it is the same doggy rush job again.

I expect some heads in Samsung will roll tomorrow.

off topic...

from what i understand... this is a thread on a public forum. does not say it's an exclusive club/ group.

anyone is more than welcomed. but one is a non-owner and wanna share some news, please... go check out the last few pages so you're not posting something that was already posted like 5-6 times. that is what some of the more passionate members are upset about. partly coz it's repeat news... and the other bit being their resale value gets hurt.
