*

really can't find any to replace as all feature are in one. can't find any better phone. love the camera and videos, screen, smooth os and all app features, especially S-pen and note app. argh.

Either provide S7/S7 Edge as interim phone, or repair our old Notes for free if we upgrade from these (I doubt they will, where to find old Notes spare part nowadays?).
*
Or may be you can downgrade a bit and take the Note 5 as interim phone, if the S-Pen is a must for you. But of course, the compromises are lack of SD card slot and IP68 water resistance.

Note series is one of the biggest trump cards from Samsung, they won't end it so easily. The worst, they will pull off the Note 7 completely. Put the Note 5 back to the shelf, wait until the arrival of the brand new Note product (Note 8 or a different note line prodict) in next year.

Well the irony is those not owning NOTE 7, keep SHARING the EXPLODING news etc.

If you are not owning Note 7 why should it be a concern to you and keep sharing the news on here? Go kopitiam section pls?

Back to the phone, overall performance & battery chun chun.

Gaming & charging simultaneously especially on Unreal Engine 4 games.

I'm probably one of those guys who are on the fence to check out this thread to see if it's available.

I really don't mind they bump the thickness a little bit to accumulate the battery inside (for battery safety reason perhaps?) or maybe even reintroduce the swappable battery, that would be the most, most, most perfect phone in 2016!

Post-replacement Note7 unit exploding news are okay, can't change the fact that post-replacement Note7 units still continue to explode (intentionally done by the owner or not is another matter, but it did explode). Note7 safety reputation is as good as dead now, I wouldn't be surprised if everywhere is imposing Note7 ban on their premise, can't blame the owners or operators.

Now the next important question is, what is Samsung's game plan the current Note7 market and how we Note7 users can fight for better compensation equivalent for the risk and inconvenience imposed on us.

I sure hope the timeline is as follows:
2016 - Exchange Note7 with interim phone S7 Edge (everything performs the same except w/out the SPen) and more freebies/goodies (VR, 360° camera, or SGear)

2017 Q1 - Option to exchange interim phone S7 Edge with new S8
or
2017 Q3 - Option to exchange interim phone S7 Edge with new Note8

It will dent Samsung profit for 2016/2017 (its going to be bad anyways) but this move can able to better retains the loyal Note users in market and let it be a good PR campaign for Samsung, that Samsung still take cares of its loyal users although Samsung f* up something.

they will still have something that uses the pen.

they might change to another name.. if they feel the Note name is too affected by this issues.

honestly, Note7 is still the best android phone around. if there's one thing I don't like, it's that edge screen. I can't use my s-pen to smart select the edges and had to use finger instead.

anyway, I'm preparing for the worst in which Samsung needs to take back and cancel Note7. I really dunno what phone to get, and at the price which I got it (telco deal).

three other options just seems to require me to compromise.. on either having no microSD, or some other thing.. haiz..

if it's just big battery causing issue and Samsung need to put in a smaller battery instead, I'm still ok with that.

anyway, see how it goes over the next few days.

having had to use my fingers for some smart select.. I'm beginning to think I can probably live without the pen. smart select was one of the main reasons I love the note series and the edge screen is a pain for me..

iphone 7 plus with 128gb of storage? maybe? laugh.gif

well....the "blueprint" have already been finalize. Changing to smaller battery or other model of battery would probably break some LAW.

QUOTE(RicoT @ Oct 9 2016, 11:10 PM)
There is a possibility that Samsung will kill Note7 sales and start buyback/exchange programs due to bad and irreversible reputation of Note7. It is just not worth the manpower, time and money to try and get it right again at this point and development work on Note8 should be halfway done by now. But Samsung definitely won't kill the Note series. I might return my Note7 to Samsung instead of selling it off to another victim (me myself is enough), use back my Note2 and wait for Note8.

Of course, I hope Samsung could provide S7/S7 Edge as interim phone and exchange for Note8 next year. So basically, current Note7 users will get Note8 next year in exchange for all the risk and inconvenience imposed to us. This will give better Note7 users a great bang for their buck and loyalty.

this gen of note7 already become money bleeding business for them, i dont think they will allow changing devices to s7/ s7 edge. Unless is really getting out of hands such as lots of exchanged device still exploding.

so far counting is 2 unit.

That's only for US. If counting Taiwan and Korea as well, so far:

US: 3 (under investigation)
Taiwan: 1 (already give back to Samsung and refunded)
Korea: 3 (1 confirmed is replacement unit, the other 2 still unverified)

it seems like the jump from 3000mah to 3500mah really break their technology laugh.gif

but some other manufacturer can come out with larger battery and goes without a hitch

That's why there are some speculations saying that the problem is not coming from the battery itself, but the phone design or other component parts.

If a partial redesign is required, might as well focus on Note8 development. Note7 will be bad in terms of sales from now on, even if they able to pull another recall, it is the same doggy rush job again.

I expect some heads in Samsung will roll tomorrow.

it is from the battery

the reason being said on this video is the battery itself have some impurities

well...im not a engineer either. but this youtuber have clearly explain it might be the battery as all those fail safe looks intact in this case by analyzing the picture by him
