Same here, won’t trust unless apple Update Apple Pay page on Malaysia website, I think apple will update before week of launch date, but the page still showing “The page you’re looking for can’t be found.”

I also share RonanGow’s pessimism, I have been checking Apple Malaysia’s website many times and have not seen any teaser of Apple Pay being released just like those from Latin America.

I have also checked several times on the major banks’ websites in Malaysia. No solid lead of Apple Pay’s release, apart from the image of Maybank beta testing one of their credit cards on Apple Pay in a supermarket; suggesting Maybank has been working with Apple for some time and heading towards its eventual release. Though a release date is yet to be confirmed. Other leaks are a he said, she said source which is hard to verify.

I have noticed there has been a surge of new formers on this specific form. To be clear, I’m not trying to belittle or kill the excitement of all formers. It’s just that I have seen time over time again of formers’ disappointment including myself for Apple Pay’s release. Frankly I used to share the enthusiasm like the newer formers, nowadays I’m much more reserved to manage expectations. Being a realist to put it simply.

I literally went to Singapore to try Apple Pay as a good friend allowed me to try it and witness my over dramatic fascination with NFC payments. Then again, I hope what is being shared on the forum is happening for real. I would like to be proven wrong.

Appreciate the forumers that continue to check up on this forum before and to the newcomers, I hope you don’t need to check this forum any longer. Hope August has something for us.

Yeah POTUS glad to hear from you. Still remember you and a few other forumers that were pumped for a released and left disappointed again. At least I know I’m not the only one feeling it. 😂

Anyone can edit wiki. I can go and edit it now to include the TBAs again and then another person go edit it away. So no point see Wiki. See Lowyat Forum better. HAHAHAHA

I have been practicing using Apple Pay by putting my credit card at the back of the phone LOL! I still think tapping with the credit card seems super convenient especially in places where phone signal isn't that great.

Edit: OK nevermind..
As like SPay, no Internet needed for retail transactions.

SPay is the best thing ever so far. Just that many merchants don't know and especially those who hide their terminals closer to the cashier will never let you put the phones nearby.

Also today, spoke with a friend in banking as well with my ex-colleagues from a local bank. The Apple Pay setup is driven as well by MasterCard.

Yup... i still get the "Hah?" reaction when i said i'm paying with SP (even when I see the logo of accepted payment method outside the store).
Some even hesitate when I tried paying with watch...
So I'll just say i'll pay with card or paywave... Most won't have problem with that.

Does that mean Mastercard only can be added?

I doubt it, I think the banks would work hard to enable for all. Perhaps in phases, especially since Malaysia is very Visa heavy compared to MasterCard who has a larger base in Singapore.

I hope that when Apple pay is launched, visa and master card can be added at the same time. I also hope that debit card can also be added, not just credit card. If both are added at the same time, I will be very happy to use Apple pay. If it is partially implemented, it will have to wait. Very sad

I think all 3 networks are supported upon launch. There's a forumer here said that about 1-2 weeks ago, they've added support for AmEx in their banking mobile app. So, let's all hope it's all true! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
