Typhoon hitting Hong Kong in December is extremely rare. Typhoon usually hits Hong Kong between July to September. The worst typhoon usually hits in July with the airport closed.
December is fairly safe to be honest. I have transit through Hong Kong International Airport many times in December.

There is a humongous shopping centre there which caters for budget clothing. Quite packed with locals.

Hi guys, we will be visiting HK for 7D6N including one night in Macau. We have bought most of the attractions/entrance tickets, hotels and ferry paid. We plan to change about RM3k to HKD and just wondering if it is enough for 2pax? Mainly to foods, junks, MTR and other transport around etc.

For me, it is way insufficient cos food in HK is not cheap. It is even worse in Macau. Eateries accepts cash and you can load up your Octupus card as it is also widely accepted and only larger restaurants accept CC. I think you'll need something like HKD8K cash minimum for 2pax for a 7D6N visit. The cab fare alone from the airport to Mongkok is about HKD230.

8 hour stopover ain't much considering the fact that your transportation time to and from Kowloon will take 2 hours away from your 8 hour stopover. Additionally you will need another 2 hours for your check in when you leave HK and 8 minus 4 and you'll have max 4 hours left. Factor in another hour for traffic jams and walking time, you are now left with a mere 3 hours.
If I had only 3 hours, I will visit Mongkok/TST instead. Plentiful of eateries and shopping there.

Aiyah, 1 hour to Kowloon and 1 hour back = 2 hours lah. You are not thinking of calculating only a one way trip, right? I am estimating by taxi, not express train. Also, you better pray that their luggage handlers aren't on strike.

Iinm there's a bus stop right in front the hotel. Fare is really cheap. Take Citybus code A21.
