Hi sifu, need some advise on mobile data/ phone calls during my 4d3n Bangkok trip, should i get a travel sim or activate Maxis Roaming for Rm38/day? If travel sim, which telco is better for my short trip.
*
i bought DTAC travel sim for rm35 only. use it throughout my 5d4n trip. if u wan i pm u the guy number u can collect it from him. then once u reach bkk can just turn it on and use it. simple and cheaper than using roaming.

Hi Guys,

i have read across this thread from the beginning.
and i have purchase airticket to bangkok for 5D4N.

here i have several favours from sifus here.

1) where is the best place to change currency note in kl? based on my research it says midvalley. anyone could verify this?
2) transportation at bangkok, i understand that there's UBER service at bangkok.has anyone tried it? any comment on that? is tut tut cheaper than uber?
3) and lastly, the biggest favour to those sifu who has been to bangkok often or have experience. could share with me a tips on what to do or where to visit for 5D4N?

also...does bangkok people does bargaining like cheetiongkai?
*
i'm not a sifu and been to bkk twice only but here's my 2 sens lah.

1) not sure about other places currency change in midvalley is not bad
2) never tried their UBER. plus if u feel anything funny funny pretty hard to get off the car. not like tuk tuk just jump out and run. laugh.gif not sure uber is cheaper or not but at least tuk tuk can haggle price and easy to potong jalan but you hold on for dear life la..
3) you go for shopping? i like the floating market. there are many though. the one i went to was at Damnoen Saduak which is 90km from bkk. other than that, asiatique is worth a visit. bkk pasar malams are worth a go. the one i went to is at pratunam and they sell pretty cool arts and crafts items. chocolate ville worth a visit too. pls google them first ya see if it's to your liking.

bkk ppl can bargain, just ask nicely. smile.gif

i guess best way to tackle this is to:
use BTS when traffic is peak jam
use Uber/Grab when traffic is not so jam

Well, you can spend a night in Pattaya. 2 nights in Bangkok.

You can take taxi from Don Muang Airport to Pattaya. Or you can train to Pattaya too. You can also rent a car and drive to Pattaya. RM80 rental of Toyota Vios per day.

Yes, you can bring your gf to watch the performance by the ladyboys. In fact, got many girls go watch too.

Cheapest way to go to Pattaya from Bangkok is via Bus from Ekkamai bus terminal. One way will cost you about 120 baht (RM16)

from Don Muang, take taxi to Mo Chit BTS, then BTS drop off at Ekkamai station. the bus terminal is just 5 minutes walk from there. Bus journey will take you 2-3 hours depending on traffic

Or if you want take taxi directly from Don Muang to Pattaya, its 1600 Baht (RM200+) one way.

TBH, theres no reason to go Pattaya with your partner from Bangkok.
Anything you can find in Pattaya, Bangkok already have.

What fun activities to do after 7.30pm in the heart of Bangkok? I will be there 3 days for work so the most i have is 2-3 hours to do anything. Siam Paragon is walking distance but it's just another mall like what we have here biggrin.gif

Good idea if this is your first Songkran experience. Accommodation will be limited with steep pricing so be quick.

Most (but not all) famous eatery will close.

Majority of Thai in Bangkok will go back to their hometown.Traffic out of Bangkok to Issan and northern region is seing spike in traffic.

Rich born and raise in Bangkok thai will head to beach resort (i.e. Hua Hin) or oversea country.

Wat(temple) will be full of people for tamboon ( gain merit ) purposes.

You must love being wet and cold all of the time if u want to visit during Songkran. 80% of toursit does not understand you must not wet a person that is eating or wet them square in the face. Good thing is this only happens in the heavily toursity area.

Malaysian who work and live here a few i know is leaving until next week. Some that lives near to Sukumvit for BTS is on frantic buying spree to stock up their food and alcohol drinks, to stay lock up in their condo to be far away from the Songkran chaos.

I am leaving to enjoy some sorely miss nasi lemak/nasi kandar/asam laksa/char koey teow/prawn mee
