Just bought the ticket to Bangkok this coming September. I thought I bought a really good deal for my flight + acc. It turns out to be like normal fare.

QUOTE(sj0217 @ Mar 13 2017, 08:00 AM) How much you bought ? For AA ?? Yeah. But I bought it together with accommodations so that's still fine. It was a panic buy. Should've buy flight ticket and hostel separately. I reckon airbnb have better cheaper choice. Being few trips to BKK 2 years, AA cheaper one I can get is RM27x.xx without luggage. Few months ago, bought BKK ticket through ThaiAir about RM400 plus, but sometimes MAS/Thai will promotion for sale Last week MAS doing sale to BKK too, about RM278 - RM350 |

Anyone have any places to recommend to go in Bangkok? Going this September. Mostly planning to visit malls since my friend was a first timer and first time taking flights.
What else I can do in Bangkok besides these, massage and eat? |

QUOTE(popiah_mmu @ Mar 15 2017, 03:41 PM) How much would it cost to charter a taxi for going around bangkok for a full day? Heard traffic is pretty bad there. Suggest you don't take it. The jam is pretty bad from 3pm onwards until 8pm. I once stuck in a jam with uber for more than an hour cause my friend want to save time to walk a 15 minutes distance mall. Does charter cost also cover parking, toll etc? |

QUOTE(popiah_mmu @ Mar 16 2017, 12:30 AM) Travelling with young kids so was thinking it might be easier to get around. If jam is bad then no point. Thanks all. If you are going out of town, say Hua Hin or somewhere outskirt then yes. Get a car would be a wise choice. If is only around Bangkok, then I suggest you don't take it. Parking is an issue, price also an issue. Will limit to locations nearby BTS. BTS pretty much cover some of the important places like Siam Square. From there you can walk to Platinum fashion store, Central World, Big-C and few other malls. Can always take tuk-tuk to Pratunam weekend market or Asiatique. Use the power of Grab/Uber. Save the hassle. |

QUOTE(famusanus @ Mar 21 2017, 04:08 PM) Planning to stay at S Box Sukhumvit, near to BTS only, rooms are quite small but i think it's enough for 2 ppl since we are going to be outside most of the time and only sleep during the night You might want to consider Matchbox Bangkok too if want to keep your budget to a minimum. I personally stayed there before with another 3 friends. They have dorm beds, as well as double bed and the place is quite spacious. Located at Sukhumvit road 33, accessible through BTS Phrom Phong station, 5-10 minutes walk. That area covered with many high end shopping malls, so don't worry you cannot find places to shop. By the way is it better to change Baht in Malaysia or there? I heard the rates are better in Thailand This post has been edited by Belphegor: Mar 22 2017, 01:33 AM |

QUOTE(life5tyle @ Jul 24 2017, 10:35 AM) You plan to stay overnight in Hua Hin? I suggest you to rent car from Bangkok and drive there on early morning. In the evening, drive back Bangkok. Not really worth staying in Hua Hin as you can visit all the places just in a day. If they really going to implement it to Malaysians, their business will get impact greatly. I believe there are more than millions worth of business we backpackers/family vacations to Bangkok. I think last year, one of my friend from KL got this problem when flying to Bangkok. Lucky they went in group and some of his friends pass him some money to make it enough amount. He know I was going soon after him so he warn me. My dad also did mentioned his friend got the same problem with the immigration when touch down at Bangkok. But when I go Bangkok on June last year, I did not face any problem with the immigration and they didn't even ask how much I bring. Hopefully is only Non-Asean countries only as I'm going to BKK on September. |

There's this halal tomyum that I love to go! Tom Yam Paa Nga, during my last 4 days trip visit to Bangkok, I had my dinner there twice. it's really awesome and the spicy level just nice. You can ask the boss to increase the spiciness according to your appetite. For my Muslim friends, this is a must try!
Requires a little walking though, is nearby the famous wanton noodle which to me is just ordinary after trying out. |

QUOTE(Hearts @ Jan 7 2019, 12:56 PM) Hey guys, got a question To save trouble that might cause from immigration, better renew it. I believe it will be continue with the expiry date instead of the date you went to renew. So basically nothing to lose. I’ll be flying to Thailand on 11 May 2019. But my passport expires on 9 December 2019, meaning it’s slightly less than 6 months to expiry. Can I still travel to Thailand? |

QUOTE(yahiko @ Feb 25 2019, 09:49 AM) hey guys My reply in bold. Any food stall you planning to hunt? FYI avoid the sukhumvit road at all cost after 4pm. The jam is horrendous and worse than jams that you ever faced. Also the air is better now. I was without mask throughout my trip to Bangkok last week. But do get those single use/recyclable mask to standby.please check my itinerary: family holiday with 4 elder + kids Day 1: Morning: Airport ( SV) touch down 8am - head to terminal 21 via train - Keep baggage at counter - shopping + Head to Don Donki Noon: leave 21 terminal to hotel check in and rest (slot in massage. Night: around 5pm train to Ratchada Rot Fai Night Market ( 1 hour + journey) (From hotel to night market takes about 45 minutes. Change 1 line only, so 1 hour +- no issue. Can stopby Esplanade complex to rest for while. FYI the night market is packed with locals and tourist. Do get ready for it. I will be staying at Krung Thon Buri station area. so to the night market will take up 1++ hour journey, If this worth it? or is there other night market suggestion near by? Day2 : Morning at Chatuchak (half day) (go inside abit to get cheaper rate. some shops outside is quite expensive) noon - back hotel rest and put stuff evening - head to siam + pratunam shopping (can consider central world also if u want. Day3: Tour ( floating and train market) end at Asiatique (Asiatique is similar to normal market, nothing much to see from tbh) Day 4: Morning visit all the Wat noon head to Chinatown maybe ( not sure yet) night: rest Day 5: Morning: check out 10am and keep baggage at hotel, go to Icon siam (nearby only) lepak till 2pm back hotel and wait for van pick to 3pm to Airport (1H) (8pm flight) Feel free to comment.. as my schedule is more relax and no rushing here. QUOTE(yahiko @ Feb 25 2019, 03:59 PM) but i am going back via van for my 8pm flight and planning depart at 3pm.. or i need to get out earlier? Sukhumvit jam is no joke. A 15 minute walking distance could cost you 1 hour easily if you drive on that road. Is the van paid? Else I'd suggest you move nearer to airport via public transport then only take cab/van to airport.google say about 50min drive so I estimate with jam 2 hour max. enough time? |

QUOTE(yahiko @ Feb 25 2019, 04:04 PM) the problem is with 9 pax x 2 baggage each ( min) = 18 baggage hard to use public transport. Wow, then can check with your hotel side, see if there are any other ways to use other than Sukhumvit road. I believe locals can give you better suggestions on the alternatives. thanks anyway. will try to transfer baggage to airport instead before check out (never try before will explore how) |
