This is very subjective, different people have different preference/ tolerance to cold. But i can tell you what I wore back in last Nov when I was in Tokyo.

A thick hoodie + thick outer jacket for outdoor sight seeing/ activities.

But when I know I do more indoor stuffs, I had heat tech + hoodie, sometimes just hoodie.

When you eat in a restaurant or go into narrow/ enclosed shop, it will often feel warm when you have your heat tech + hoodie on.

U only focus on few Kansai cities, public transport is better than self drive.......as parking fee at big cities liked Osaka, Kyoto is very high, sometimes hard to find parking at tourist spots.

Yes, Tocoo is trusted.

notworthy.gif notworthy.gif Thanks bro. Totally understand about the parking fees and also challenges in finding car park. Actually I am also in dilemma until now. But the reason for us to go towards renting a car is because we have 6 adults (among 4 are senior citizen) and 2 toddlers (1.5 y/o and 3.5y/o). And also my mother in law is not very fit walking too much.

To be honest, i am still in dilemma until today whether to take public transport or renting a car sad.gif

If you have someone elderly with you, who also has difficulty in walking, then yes I do agree on getting a car for her convenience. Just budget in advance for parking fees, toll, petrol, car rental etc. It would be too tiring for the elderly to take public transport.

no need to dilemma...you have to spend for your family comfort, nothing wrong in that

better to have a happy family during vacation rather than a unhappy one

Bought another flight ticket to Tokyo return for RM1,172 on this raya week but 1 stop using Vietnam Airlines.

Anyone had experience using Vietnam Airlines? KL-HoChiMin-Tokyo & Tokyo-HCM-KL

Just came back from JPN last golden week and it was awesome! This time I'm going alone without my partner.

I will recommend you to take taxi inside the cities such as Kyoto and Osaka. The reasons are:
1. The parking near tourist spot may far away from tourist spot, they still need to walk some distance. If you use taxi, taxi may just drop u all in front of the tourist spot. Your trip may just focus one or two tourist spots per day, and you have 6 adults, the fare is divided and may cheaper than you rent a car.
2. Osaka is a big city, once your miss a junction, you may need to make a big round.......may waste your time. smile.gif

Last year , I did use Vietnam airlines for Japan (multi cities, Tokyo in, Fukuoka out) and Taiwan trips. Their service is good, high CP value for the ticket price.

Do I need to re-check in my baggage after reach HCM?

What if i want to go out walk around the airport while waiting for transit to Tokyo, do i need to pass the immigration and they will give temporary entry? So they will stamp on my passport even for few hours?

Free baggage 30KG for Vietnam Airlines right?

My first time transit 1 stop, normally i will buy a direct flight.

1. No need. They do everything themselves. You just throw yourself to immigration check. laugh.gif

2. No need. There's duty free shop around the waiting area. But I can't see if there's anything worth buying since everything is in USD. If you want to makan there, I suggest you bring at least 30 USD to makan. I don't think they will allow you to go OUT of the immigration area also. hmm.gif

3. Yes 30kg per pax. Also free drink and meal throughout 4 flights. brows.gif

Hope this helps.

Hi. Is the transit time sufficient? Or is it rushing? Need to plan since taking my 2-year old son for his first trip. Appreciate your kind insights.

Transit definitely enough time for you to change diapers, makan and 30 minute nap. laugh.gif I never experience any delay from their flight. Even if there's delay, both flight under Vietnam Airlines also, no worries on that part IMO. laugh.gif

How long is your transit? If its only 1 hour, I'll suggest not to go anywhere. Just get off, pass through immigration, walk nearby/ stretch a little and perhaps a short toilet break then queue up again for immigration to get back in. The troublesome thing is to get off, pass through immigration then pass through immigration and get on again.

If your transit is 2 hours long, consider resting at nearby lounge. Friends and I did that for our transit to Nagoya. Paid a small fee to access a lounge that has WIFI, plug point to charge phone, drinks, pillow and comfortable coach to nap.

And oh, bring some Vietnamese Duong or USD just in case you decided to spend at the airport, or if there's an urgent need to buy something for your child.

Good to hear its a stopover at HCM. I have no problem with the airport, everything was fine. The only unpleasant experience was at Hanoi airport on our transit back.
