Progressing very slowly.
Just finished harvesting our pumpkins. Next harvest maybe April. Price at the moment is all time low.
The Berangan and other banana that were planted last year are starting to bear fruits, harvested twice.
Papaya, also planted last year is starting to be harvested in stages. Producing new batch of seedlings. Selling off as raw & ripe.

Anticipating a tough time as the dry & hot season now.

Had a productive day today. Planted 70 jackfruits seedling plant & 50 Berangan & Emas sucklings. Managed to clear about 3/4 acre of land, most probably using it to plant soursop.

Back for my holidays tomorrow. A 2 weeks break rclxms.gif

Happy Chinese New Year!

HI Poks, no, I'm base in Keningau.
I bought 60 plants of Cavendish form a guy who does tissue culture in Tambunan and he sold it at the Tamu @ Keningau. That was way back 2011. Out of those, I only manage to raise about 12. They are producing sucklings now. I had stopped transferring these as my buyers are not keen.

Berangan, I got the sucklings from a couple of friends here, just transferred some.

Btw where is your farm, and what are you plans?

Over at my place the hot weather is already here and I guess it's gonna be a tough challenge. Hopefully we do good.

What is 505? I have a couple of old Mango trees, heavily infested with trunk borer. I cut off most of the infected branches as I find it too difficult to treat (height).

I think your planting distance of the papaya could be too close.
I planted initially with 7 ft, then 8 ft. Now my new planting is at 10 ft, which I think should be good. (depending on your variety).

Hi YongBS, welcome to the club.
biggrin.gif at least you have a 10% knowledge. I came in with 0%, but am learning everyday and it's a great adventure.
Looking back and practicing which I think is good.
1) Lots of reading on agriculture knowledge, which is plenty on the internet.
2) Getting a good mentor (which I'm still searching)
3) Enlisting the help of Agriculture Dept. ( which is free)
4) Lots of practicing, trial and fine tuning (field work)
5) Persistence, perseverance and highly motivated (Group support, here at this forum).

Wishing you a prosperous venture in agriculture. Do keep us update.

I planted some durian too, but for own consumption. From my research, selling price fluctuate greatly.

505 is the commercial name of a type of insecticide. useful against trunk borer they said and confirmed by Agriculture Officer.
A method to use is to clear the spot by poking and injecting via the syringe and either wait or cover up with earth.

My planting distance is 10 feet.
