Watch Dogs 2 is very CPU demanding, you will experience inconsistent frame rates especially in city area or crowded area with i5, but your budget can only fit i5, unless you are willing to wait for AMD Ryzen 5 1400 (4C8T) $199 (or ~RM 1k) or top up your budget.

Focus on performance first before adding SSD and other fancy features/requirements like modular PSU, 16GB RAM etc, you may use the following build as the reference, it contains a good quality fully modular PSU but unfortunately I couldn't fit an SSD and 16GB RAM in the build, but they are easier to upgrade in the future as an "add-on" though.

Intel Core i5 7400 - RM 854
Gigabyte B250M-D3H - RM 419
G.SKill Aegis 8GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 280
Palit GTX1060 6GB GDDR5 Dual - RM 1229
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
Superflower Leadex Gold 550W - RM 429
Tecware Edge - RM 149

Total: RM 3579 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

If you plan to save cost, you can actually go for previous generation chipset like H110/B150 (there is no B270, it is B250).

And which Pioneer SSD model is that? I checked the specs, it doesn't seem to amaze me too much in terms of sequential 4K read/write, go for other model if you can.

Will use Skylake CPU instead of Kaby Lake CPU in the below build to save cost (of course you can go for Kaby Lake or wait for the upcoming AMD Ryzen if you wish nod.gif ).

Intel Core i5 6402P - RM 781
Asus H110M-K - RM 259
G.SKill Aegis 8GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 255
Zotac GTX1050Ti 4GB GDDR5 Mini - RM 729
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 169
Tecware F3 - RM 119

Total: RM 2531 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

Add an SSD later when you have more funds to improve system responsiveness as well as system boot time.

Torrent/movie rig may need full size motherboard with more SATA ports. I have one 256GB SSD, one 3TB WD Red Pro, three 3TB SV35 hard disk. Running out of space soon.

Intel only supports 6 SATA 3 ports (from the PCH) even with the highest end Z270, it makes no difference to go for ATX mobo since you can also get 6 SATA ports on mATX (B150/B250, H110 is limited to 4) unless you purposely choose those mobo with custom onboard controller (which is usually found on those high end & expensive Z270 mobo only), it is not budget friendly at all in my opinion unless storage is the main requirement.

Oh I see, couldn't find Pioneer branded SSD on their lelong online store, but Transcend, Kingston and Intel are sold by them, you may consider swapping the Pioneer to one of these.

Kingston UV400 (cheaper but slower in 4K read/write)/Transcend 370S (more expensive but faster than UV400).

Possible, you can downgrade the i5 to Pentium G4560 (similar to an i3's 2C4T at lower clock speed) and the GPU from GTX1050Ti to GTX1050, this can save you around RM 650+/-.

Dota 2 and CS:GO perform better and faster on a CPU with high single core clock speed, if your friend prefers to have a stable 60FPS, especially during heavy clash in Dota 2, try to get i3 7100 (but this costs twice the amount of a G4560 though sweat.gif )

The reason for full size motherboard is because you can add SATA cards on expansion slots.

Any monitor requirement? Or just a normal 1080p60 panel will do?

So do mATX, you still have spare slots for expansion card, unless you plan to install more expansion card than usual, then that's different story and purpose.

But I don't think this is one of the requirements though, it is not mentioned in the list.

Since PS is in the software list, I decided to go for a high end premium IPS monitor that comes with excellent sRGB (99%) and NTSC (72%) coverage.

Intel Core i7 7700 - RM 1424
Gigabyte H270-HD3 - RM 519
G.SKill Aegis 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 560
Palit GTX1060 6GB GDDR5 Dual - RM 1229 (If it is only for minor Lumion work then you can downgrade this GPU)
Intel 600P 240GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD - RM 448
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
Superflower Leadex Silver 550W - RM 359
Tecware Alpha - RM 219
Dell U2417H - RM 1019

Total: RM 5996 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

Its up to him. Just telling you my experience for video collections. You'll be running out of space quickly if you do 1080p or higher.
