Most of the time will be using Photoshop and mild gaming. When I was creating this build, I need to have one system that can lasts me at least 3 years before first upgrade nod.gif

Dear Sifus,

Building a rig from 0. Besides GTX 1060 and i5 6400 is in my mind I don't really have any idea. Mostly for gaming. Better if its built to be able to run also the latest games or future upcoming games in the next 3 years. Do I need a 144hz monitor as well?

Thanks sifus

[B][Budget] 4-5k

[Purpose] Gaming. Dota 2, Civ 6, CSGO, Overwatch, Witcher 3

[Hardwares that will be re-use] None

144Hz is optional, triple A titles are very hard to achieve high frame rate due to many factors and the results vary from games to games, 144Hz monitor will cost you around 1k, which left you 4k for the rig, I wouldn't recommend you to go for 144Hz monitor first if you are building from scratch, 144Hz is more towards "premium" quality gaming, luxurious yet expensive and doesn't always guarantee you can take full advantage out of it if you prefer graphics quality over frame rate. Why I said so? If you prefer to run games on the best available graphics settings (a.k.a ultra settings) then you probably won't be able to hit 144Hz in triple A titles and vice versa.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 865
Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4) - RM 379
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 198
Palit GTX1070 8GB GDDR5 Jetstream - RM 1848
Kingston SSDNow UV400 240GB SSD - RM 287
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 209
Superflower Leadex Gold 550W - RM 409
Tecware Alpha - RM 199
Acer R241Y IPS - RM 622

Total: RM 5016 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

But here is a build with 144Hz monitor, you can swap it with a normal 60Hz monitor to reduce the total cost.

Sifu I noticed your first choice of GFX card is usually Palit rather than ASUS or the other brands. Any specific reason for that?

May I know how much you can top up? 3k is enough to build something for Dota but if you plan to get on board with latest triple A titles, you are advised to go for a better specs unless you are ok with slightly lowered graphics settings and frame rate smile.gif

Price is the main concern, all of them are using similar chipset, so the performance isn't too far ahead for either brand. The differences are just the brand name, warranty (if any), design, clock speed (can be adjusted manually so it isn't a main problem), the performance difference is negligible but you have to fork out extra few hundred for it, worth or not?

Max budget 5k cannot get you 4k monitor along with the rig I believe. Only X2 your budget can do that.

Unless you say 5k for the rig and the monitor you utilise a separate budget then possible...

Can fit a 4K UHD monitor but you also need the hardware required to drive it.

Intel Core i3 6100 - RM 490

Sapphire RX460 4GB GDDR5 Nitro - RM 699

OS is not included, not sure which version you need, but you can get it cheaper in Garage Sales section.

If you plan to buy in Penang, you can look for GTech (hikari85) in Butterworth but price might be slightly higher than Klang Valley area.

I would suggest:
Zotac GTX1070 AMP! Edition - 1949
i5 6600K - 1020.78
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB 2600MHz - 233.2
MSI Z170-A Krait 3X - 750
Cryorig H7 - 189
Samsung 750 EVO 250GB - 275.6
NZXT S340 - 315

Total: 4732.58 (inc. 6% GST, all reference price from different trusted distributors @ lelong)

#Side Note:
1. Can choose 16GB DDR4 RAM to meet the max budget of yours, or maybe grab a Gigabyte 1070 G1 or EVGA 1070 ACX3.0
2. Price will be much higher if buy from local retail store, expect over-budget if planning to buy from physical store
3. GPU is good enough to run 4K, but don't expect full-fledged 60fps for some AAA games, would rather suggest Ultrawide 1440p monitor

Depends on the item condition, if they are still in good condition then you can put on sales for ~RM 500 (more or less).

I will ditch the i5-K to i7 anytime, this will reduce the cost significantly (no need Z170, 3rd party cooler, high speed RAM and potential OC worries) and add the money into the 4K monitor funds biggrin.gif

Based on 2.5k budget.

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 802
Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4) - RM 379
Kingston 16GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 396
Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB SSD - RM 190
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 209
Superflower Leadex Silver 550W - RM 339
Tecware Alpha - RM 199

Total: RM 2514 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

For 2k one, you can drop the 8GB RAM, SSD and get a cheaper PSU.
