IC, i always thought 7300GT AGP does not need external power..LOL..Maybe AGP slot couldn't provide enough power for the GC..

Yeah, I thought the 7300GT doesn't need on.

AFAIK, AGP slots can provide up to 25w, PCIE up to 75w and molex up to???

finally had the time to fix this car to my mobo! rclxm9.gif

Everything runs smooth and oh my god, I just couldn't believe my eyes looking at the graphics. So nice. Hahaha.. ya la, after 3 months playing games using on-board SiS graphic accelerator.. laugh.gif

Fit the card into the AGP slot and plug-in the molex connector and it runs like a birdhorse.. thumbup.gif

Just a question, there is a VDOTool software comes together with the driver and when I clicked it on the taskbar comes out few options. Then I chose Performance and it show 2 speedometer. The one on the left shows CoreClockSetting (400MHz) while on the right it shows MemoryClockSetting (500MHz). unsure.gif

hi.

i just got myself a 7950GT from a friend who is GENEROUS ENOUGH to give it to me after he got himself a 8800 ultra.

been using it for a week now. all fine and dandy ( OMG LOST PLANET NOT LAG! lol)

one problem just popped out tho.

you see, today i had TWO consecutive blackout in my building. thus, pc off la, right?

When i reboot, both times, my system reverts to the onboard graphics.
Why is it like that?
i have to log into vista, restart, THEN i can use my 7950 as the display.

Any ideas?

WOW congrats on ur new card.... getting a new better card is always exciting.... hehe... i guess this happen to every1.....

about additional power.. u have to plug in to use it at full performance..... but u can unplug it too(only some of the card... not with my 7800gs EE).. but will run at crappy clock speed...... i experience this when im using my old leadtek 6600GT AGP......

ur card should be "PALIT 7300GT sonic 256mb 128bit 400mhz/500mhz AGP8x" right.... and ur card looks like the pic below right?..... if so then 400 core/500 memory is ur gc default clock..... and VDOTool should be the software made by Palit to let u smart Overclock(automatic) the graphic card..... but i always like rivatuner more since u can MOLEST ur GC even more.... hahaha...

cant wait to see ur 3dmark03 score.....

About that power connector. The cable is like this. It starts with one black colored plug head to be fit to the card and then it ends with 2 molex connector (or what ever it called as.. ) The thing is, I can only connect just one molex connector as my PSU only has 1 connector left un-connected. Is that okay? laugh.gif

Urm.. you got the name of the card 90% correct. laugh.gif The exact name of the card is Palit 7300GT Sonic 256MB 128Bit GDDR3 (Memory/Core Clock : 1000/400) The card is exactly the same as in 100% same like here. thumbup.gif

That made me wonder, why the Memory clock is set to 500Mhz as on the box it says 1000Mhz. unsure.gif

Here is the speedometer looks like. tongue.gif

IIRC, all of the PCIE --> Molex Power Connector will need 2 Molex in order to power them up.

Not sure about the 7300GT AGP though..

About the speedometer, dont worry. It does mean 1000Mhz. Its GDDR ram which needs you to * 2.. icon_rolleyes.gif

if ur psu has enough current rail (A) to supply the gpu then it's ok to connect with 1 molex otherwise u'll need 2 molex...

ahh.. 2 molex head(4pin) + 6pinpower(guys izzit that PCIE Power??)... both also male connector?(means have pin)........ i tot was like 1female molex+1male molex+1PCIE power......... i think 1 is enuf..... if they need 2 then ur GC will have 2 power connector...... but 7300GT i dont think it need 2 power connector lor... so power hunger meh??? anyway better listen to all those Sifus out there...

90% correct??? lol missing tat "GDDR3" only... (>_<").... 400/500 = 400/500x2 = 400/1000 for graphic card.....as kmarc said memory need to x2 for GDDR...... same as DDRmemory concept..

tat speedometer i havent use b4 since only palit use vdotool i guess..... so u can start ur journey to benchmark with 3dmark03 already... hehehe

ur 7300gt very hot ah???? why need v-power VGA cooler?... not cheap leh.... sayang the money!.. haha

1st of all u have to watch for ur card temperature before u start Overclocking.... if u dont have the software... try get ntune, rivatuner, everest or etc... once u have it.... watch ur gc tempreture.. on idle and full load(can use ATItool to test max temp)....... then if the tempreture ok.. u can start overclocking ur card with vdotool

the vdotool indicate 400(left)/1000(right) which means 400 = core clock and 1000 = memory clock..... increasing it is called overclocking.... which means pushing ur card to work harder = better performance... therefore it will produce more heat and increase in tempreture.... human work more also will release more sweat right??? and overclocking will shorten ur its lifespan(but no1 cares coz i wont die fast if u keep it in safezone.. and nvidia always have limit control... will lower clockspeed automatically when it reach a certain danger tempreture, dunno call wat name already)...... human work alot everyday also will die faster right?... haha..... about details how to overclock GC go read some guides in this LYP overclocking forum... rclxms.gif

Hmm..but why older cards like the Five Series....which consume more power (In watt) than the 7 series doesnt need external power ?
