hey guys. its the free 7950GT guy again.

the problem still persist even after i "supposedly" turn off the onboard graphics.

i'm using an intel board - can that be the problem?

ok lets try this.... so the problem is on ur winxp right?
1.logon ur winxp...
2.unintall everysingle graphic driver... onboard and nvidia... try to use "detonator RIP" or wateva s/w tat can clean up the left over files/registry of graphic driver(www.guru3d.com)
3.plug off ur graphic card from mobo + install back on (optional)
4.reset CMOS(mobo jumper) ...... go in BIOS set onboard graphic off & main graphic to AGP or PCIE acording wat u using...
4.logon to winxp
5.download and install driver 162.18 from www.nvidia.com.. (make sure it is windows XP driver... ***NOT Windows Vista***)
6.restart ur com and logon into winxp

thats all i can think off for now... try to make sure u dont login winvista along ur process....

lol.
no sign.

actually i'm using Vista all the way.

its just when you reboot after windows update, it will go back to the onboard.

and the onboard bios dont really have a spesific command that says " DISABLE ON BOARD VIDEO".

waiting for intel to follow up with this.

hmmmm i wonder izzit the CMOS battery worn out... maybe it keep reset everytime coz out of battery... how long u've been using the battery without changing?......
if very long time like 4-5years then i think can change already.. less than RM10 only...

anyway try to double check 1st if u wanna save money..... try to adjust other simple option in bios and set VGA to AGP together... hmmm maybe like off onboard audio, set the time and date..... then everytime u restart ur com.... MAKE sure u enter bios 1st.. and look whether the changes is reverted to default anot.. if yes then sumthg wrong with bios(means maybe no batt) or worst... u know wat.... whistling.gif

u can stil try follow all the steps i've stated b4 with latest winvista driver 162.22 from nvidia... tongue.gif

Sent them the inquiry. tongue.gif

162.18 from nvidia's own website still not whql certified

farique..snap a pic of the molex n show to us
*
As requested. I managed to find the similar picture of that cable from the internet.

It is exactly the same as the most bottom cable with 2 molex. My card comes only with that cable and VGA-DVI converter. Just that. And the manual? only show you how to install the graphic driver.. laugh.gif

could you show us your VGA card? either the seller accidentally put the 6-pin PCI-e connector or it is indeed your card is PCI-e, but then... you said it's AGP... then... i think, most probably, accidentally put... tongue.gif

Yea, i guess it is supposed to be in PCIE only as the power connectors on AGP cards i saw are mostly on Molex connectors.

hahahaha.. nah, Im very 100% confident that its an AGP card laugh.gif But, somehow, the card has that 6pin connector! shocking.gif

Well, Im guessing that maybe its Palit manufacturing fault. The board should be fitted for PCIe's but mistakenly fitted for AGP slot.. laugh.gif

could not be an unintended mistake. for the 7series card to work on AGP, a bridge/converter fo PCIE to AGP signal must be onboard. I am guessing its a new cost efficient design for palit since no need to change so much layout for AGP cards? tongue.gif

Here is the bigger size of the card. Not my card though, but its 100% the same AGP card. You guys can see there is the 6pin connector on top left of the card. Maybe this card is a Sonic card, that's why they added this extra power connector. laugh.gif

The problem now is, not enough female molex connector.. cry.gif I scared the card cant survive longer if there is short of power.. unsure.gif

urm.. lets count

1 for HDD
1 for CDRW
1 for DVDRW
1 for the graphic card itself.

so, max molex connector given is only 4. laugh.gif and Im lacking 1 more.. hahaha.. maybe time to change to a new PSU? brows.gif
Since this PSU Ive been using it for more 2 years already. Guess what, its a Cap Ayam brand for P4 processors.. muahahaha! laugh.gif
