If u wan more, oc it. You should be able to break 8k  barrier  tongue.gif  drool.gif

Yup. If you OC your CPU and GC, you can go higher.

For my rig, already OC to the max (only for benchmarks) and scored 7.1k on 3dmark05......

I just joined the 7600GT club. Temporary member only though.... biggrin.gif

Anybody using 7600GT? What's your max OC on the GPU core and rams?

Want to get a general idea on the overclockability of these cards....

What did you use for stability testing?

So far, my mem can go up to 1600Mhz with no artifacts on ATItool.

Testing the core at 690mhz now...... smile.gif

Still lose out to the 7800GS EE. Remember that the 7600GT is only 128-bit. I've benchmark this card on 3Dmarks06 and it still looses to 7800GS EE at stock..... ok sleep time.....

newbie here, just wanna ask wheter there is smth wrong with my gc, is there any performance difference in AGP and PCI E gc in terms of the 3dMark?

my rig:
CPU: Intel P4 3.0E HT
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000-G 865PE
RAM: Kingston 512MB DDR 400Mhz

i recently bought a XFX 7600gt AGP 256 DDR3 at PISA PC Fair, when i run the 3dMark2003, i only hv a score of 11k, is this the usual score for 7600gt AGP?  sad.gif

coz my fren using leadtek 7300gt PCIE and he also score bout 11k for his 3dMark03.  sweat.gif

hope all the sifu there can clear my disturbance.............
*
Yeah, that's a bit lower than usual. Here's the score for my 7600GT PCIE (Overclocked at 640/750). Default settings on 3Dmark03.

Did you OC your GC?

nope i din oc my gc, just normal 560/1400Mhz

is it because of my com rig? coz mine quite low, only a P4 3.0E 478 socket goin at single channel (normal ram)
*
Your CPU could be the bottleneck but I'm not too sure. Remember that the AGP is slightly slower than the PCI-E, about 2-5% IIRC....

QUOTE(vincentlaw @ Aug 12 2007, 08:37 PM)
omg...... tats a very nice score..... jealous... default 3dmark setting? 2CPU test, 5 feature test, 2 sound test? wat driver u using?
*
Yup. Default 3Dmark03 settings (1024x768 right?). Can't change the settings as it is the shareware non-registered version.

Yeah, I was surprised myself. Why? Look at the figures below:

3Dmarks03
7800GS EE (AGP) - OC 475/715 : 9666
7600GT (PCIE) - OC 640/750: 15566

3Dmarks06 (remember, the 06 is also CPU dependent)
7800GS EE - OC 475/715 : 3610 total, sm2.0 - 1407, HDR/sm3.0 - 1354 (CPU 1956)
7600GT - OC 690/790 : 3952 total, sm2.0 - 1556, HDR/sm3.0 - 1390 (CPU 2700)

Based on the above scores, I wonder why the 7600GT scored so high in 3Dmarks03 rclxub.gif rclxub.gif (as in 3Dmarks06, they are about the same..... hmm.gif)

Edit : I'm using the latest driver..... errr 182.16, I think....

Eh? How come yours higher? From my records, my 3Dmarks03 score was only 9666 for the 7800GS EE...... (Although I thought I did score 15023 previously but when I re-ran 3Dmark03, it was only 9666 at default setting. Your score is much higher!!!)

Now, I got a question, after Ive molested the card last night, I saw there is a black cable which is something that should be connected from the card to the power cable. Do I need to plug that as well when installing the card? And here is the next question, I got SiS VGA driver running on my PC, should I un-install it before installing this 7300GT driver?. And my last question, So, I wanted to molest around with the AA and AF while gaming, does the driver also included this software where I can mess around on how many AA/AF I want to use?

That what made me wonder. Why there is a power cable connector then? I dont think its for SLi as there is no SLi logo on the box. Besides, in the manual book (or should I say manual brochure? its so thin that contains only 1 page that is being folded 5 part shakehead.gif ) only show how to install the driver and not the card. unsure.gif
*
Does you card run without the power connection? Funny that it would need an extra external source of power.

For my previous 7800GS EE, it would give a high-pitch warning when I forgot to connect the power connector (on startup)

IC, i always thought 7300GT AGP does not need external power..LOL..Maybe AGP slot couldn't provide enough power for the GC..

Yeah, I thought the 7300GT doesn't need on.

AFAIK, AGP slots can provide up to 25w, PCIE up to 75w and molex up to???

I usually use this link to gauge the performance. They don't include the 7800GS though...

You can select the GC to compare and also the type of game : http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html

ATITool is not 100% perfect... i tried to used it last time.... i try to scan for artifact with increasing clock speed/mem speed and found non till a certain level of OC(which is quite high oc) then i tried with 3dmark03.. once it started not even 5sec... alot artifact start to show.. and whole system crash.. lol... nth wrong with temp tat time.. but too high OC... >_<"..... so now only use riva+3dmark to check and bench.... dam 3dmark need so much time to bench
*
AFAIK, there is no stress program for OC graphic cards. ATItool is good to detect any minute artifacts that can't be picked up by the naked eye. You probably need to run the scan for artifacts for a few hours if you want to know whether the OC is stable or not.

However, the general recommendation is that you still test out the OC using benchmarking programs to look for artifacts and then try out some games.

In certain situation, ATItool and 3Dmarks may be stable but not in games..... smile.gif

i tried running fine with my high oc in 3dmark05 (not try on 06 coz i dun haf the software) all smoothly, but the same setting will fail atitool 'show 3d' in minutes, n sometimes even pass artifact scan for up to 9 hours!!! but when it's bad mood, then 10 minutes will lock the whole thing up... my pc just hang instead of showing only artifacts... i dun get those yellow squares but i got all these messed up colour small pixels all around my monitor before it hangs...
*
Just remember that when you test for artifacts in ATItool, whenever you stop scanning due to artifacts, you need to reset ATItool by closing the 3D window and reopening it again. Apparently, if you don't do this, existing artifacts will be considered as normal and ATItool would not report those artifacts.

I remember reading this fact last time but lazy to find the source.... smile.gif
