My own house and my inlaws house located 3km away driving distance. So in straight distance maybe about 2km. Plus my house located a bit higher ground compared to my inlaws.

So my question is ...Is that possible if i can install a dish on my roof and beaming it towards my in laws house and provide them my Internet? My current plan is 500Mbps.

Can save another subscription on my inlaw. Anyone can recommend realible ubiquiti dish Transmitter and Receiver?

Does EdgeRouter X supports HW offloading & DPI at the same time? I can't stretch my budget to USG.

If not, I'll just settle for a cheap Tomato-based router eg D-Link DIR-868L for basic bandwidth monitor/history, and later run DPI from a mini-PC eg ntopng, feeding off a mirrored port from my TP-Link SG108E.

Normally i compare ERlite and ER X; ERlite and USG have same price range if i not mistaken.

The main difference is that, with offload enabled, the ERL can route 1 Gbps upload and download simultaneously, while the ERX can route a total of 1Gbps (e.g., 1 Gbps download, 500 Mbps downlaod and upload, etc). Also the ERX has a built in switch and the ERL doesn't.

The ERL is an older platform for which the ER4 is the replacement. But it's still a solid router with millions of installed units. If you need simultaneous gigabit, get the ERL or ER 4. If you want a built in switch, get the ERX.

Hi Wan,

Thanks for getting in touch with us!

Yes, ER X can run hardware offload and DPI at the same time.

Hope that's helpful. If you have any other questions, please let us know!

Thanks!

Full Unifi solution very tempting but too expensive for me!

I guess I'll have to find cheaper acceptable solution for traffic history & DPI eg Edgerouter + UNMS, or ntopng on Raspberry Pi 3 / Celeron box.

This sounds very effective. Works and affordable. Love to see some forumers here post pictures of their setup. Just like how they do in ubiquiti stories in their community page. Maybe we could do something similar.

Anyway, would like to discuss about the legal for "Unifi" in malaysia.
Anyone have any info regarding this?

Is that using UBNT UniFi product in Malaysia are illegal?

Hi, I've recently purchased Amplifi HD to replace my default D-Link DIR-850L provided by time.

I'm having hard time setting up the Amplifi HD. It will auto-disconnect and says can't detect the internet.

I've tried a few ways, can't seem to get it work.

Need help.
