using ERlite, poe5, ES switch, unifi Switch, AP's too... im using quad load balancer on ERpoe5... its running stable so far.. and much user friendly than cisco.. + the license free
*
Nice. Those are full on ubiquiti man. How is the performance using wan through all 4 wans? Does it go through the switch chip or straight to cpu? i always wonder. Btw whats your isp? 4 diff ones?

so far stable and good performance; not doing fail over. as I need big bandwidth. the wans straight to cpu then switch.  Yes, 2 Different ISP, Ohana and TM Unifi. 2 WAN each.  so total 4..
*
so im guessing ur doing 100mbps each? nice setup and that er-poe potential is scratched almost half way. must be a big number of users in yr place. are u in any chance running a server/s behind that router? maybe a good ol vpn? =)

vpn run on the router. its not a known issue... probably some bugs... especially port forwarding issue... if running on multi wan. for sure have difficult times handling port forwarding. over than 5 port forwarding will cause u headache. i guess, there is limitation for a router than real load balancer.
*
Yea i agree. I wouldnt use a built in vpn in your case. Port forwarding is a headache? Is it like a bug issue? Yea there are a few some bugs needed ironing on edgerouter. In my case, i need l2tp client interface which is non existence.i guess its a waiting game. Anyway, since there are many clients connected to yr system, are u segmenting them via vlan? How did u do yours?

Ahaa.. i would imagine that will be confusing. Btw, does pppoe on unifi biz require vlan? I dont suppose they hav an iptv with it right? Btw, is there any free hotspot deployed around your system area? I may go to the area and check it out. LOL

no hotspot deploy, just normal wifi... sweat.gif erm, TM pppoe in malaysia have vlan tagging. just that, unifi biz dont have iptv...

have you heard about Aries Telecomunication? provide 1Gbps. using fully ipv6  laugh.gif
*
Holly wow! That must be amazing. Just one thing tho, if its ipv6 only, then the rest of ipv4 wont work. I can count my ipv6 use with one hand. Lol. Maybe can setup the router to tunnel an ipv4 route. But i have not study that yet. Cz most isp uses a stacked protocol anyway. Damn thats interesting

Overseas is much cheaper - the box even states "less than $100"

But if I was to import shipping would be around $20 USD, and SIRIM agent as I don't have time to do it myself would cost another RM200. In the end the price will work out the same, so makes sense to get it locally.
*
Thank you for sharing yr experience. In my case its a little different. I ordered my erl from latvia and i collected it without sirim. Took a week to arrive to my house. That was around 6months ago. (Am i lucky?)
And then, a week ago i ordered a ccr router from poland, dhl called me 2 days after shipment saying that i need sirim for it. I told them that it wasnt a wifi router and told them to send it to me asap. Then what do u know. They sent it to me a day later. Again without sirim(lucky again?). In my understanding, u dont need sirim for wired router, but u need sirim for radio related product such as wifi ap. Am i wrong? Im here to share my experience, someone maybe have a clearer understanding about sirim approvals.

sirim? you mean MCMC permission to operate radio waves at certain power?  hmm.gif

Its much simpler than that. I mean law for importing non radio related router. Does it require sirim like the rest of wifi router in the market?

No u dont need the cloud key to manage, unless u wanna do users load balancing, offsite management, or hotspot. I dont think uap any web gui. All managed by the controller.

I wonder edge router poe-5 possible to use as switch and poe at the same time ?

Eg :

Etho = wan
Eth1 = lan
Eth2-4 = poe

If can that means we can save a lot on the ubiquiti switch + Poe
*
Tbh the new us8 60w is cheaper and have more ports. Maybe u can look into that. Its on sale now, but not sure if local dist have it in stock yet. If i were u i would look for a good deal online. Eg: senetic.co.uk. (their shipping is cheaper than most places)

Hi,

I'm plan to do bridge for a distance 2km and here is my configuration.

Location A = Fiber time router (300MBP) > NBE-5AC-16
Location B = NBE-5AC-16 > Router.

Is that I'm correct to setup like that ?.

Thank you all sifu first.
Regards

Thank bro,

NBE-5AC-16 can provide strong signal strong even in heavy rain for 2KM distance ? or should I go for NBE-5AC-19 ?
Location A = Fiber time router (300MBP) > NBE-5AC-16  AP mode
Location B = NBE-5AC-16 > Router.  station mode
Is that correct for mode selection ?

Thank alot pandera999 .

What kind of throughput are u expecting out of this setup? I am planning to deploy similar setup but times 10 range and maybe no line of sight whatsoever. Not sure if its even possible.

It wil definitely be charged gst bro. Uap ac pro will need sirim approval. Do yr comparison after price+shipping+gst. Mind you they dont calculate for u. Do it yrself. If the price difference is significance then it might be worth it. U do have to drive over to sirim office to get approval too. Once it arrived u will provide the documentations to customs. One more thing, if u are buying off amazon. Make sure u get uap that is international version. If u accidentally bought the us version, u will be disappointed to see the less powerful wifi strenght. Usually i will take arnd 2-3 weeks to look around the internet to look for the best deal so i would still save a lot after gst charges. I hope this helpes.

Hmm.. here are some interesting stats.

My TM UniFi setup at home is still using their stock router which is D-link's DIR-850L, and I've their wifi APs still switched on. I assigned a different SSID to the UAP AC LITE access point. Both on the 802.11n 2.4Ghz network. D-link's on channel 11 while Ubiquiti on channel 1.

Dlink DIR-850L
- channel 11
- only 1 co-channel (signal at 70ish), no overlapping

Ubiquiti AC LITE
- channel 1
- 2 co-channel (signal at 90ish), no overlapping

Neighbours APs mostly at 70ish onwards signal strength (that's at channel 11)

The AC LITE signal strength is mostly weaker than those coming from the DIR-850L
- AC LITE usually 60-67
- Dlink DIR850L usually 55-60

It seems to indicate the DIR-850L is not doing a bad job or is this just a case of me not tweaking properly the AC LITE for better signal strength?
*
Try changing the tx power to high. And mount yr uap to the ceiling instead of putting it on a desktop. Btw, uap ac lite is not made for long range. Make sure channel width is at 20mhz instead of 20/40. Experiment on channel 6 or 13 as well. Is your 5ghz ac doing okay?
