Hi guys, I just look at Civic maintenance cost from HM website. I'm surprised the 1.5 turbo variant maintenance cost is much cheaper than the 1.8 variant. Is this real?
https://www.honda.com.my/model/maintenance/civic?id=63

For example:

First 3 years

1.5 turbo
FREE, 63.60, 71.55

1.8
FREE, 218.78, 270.51

1.5T turbo maintenace cost is only for normal servicing. They didn't include engine oil & filter cost coz it's decoupled from the normal maintenance. Basically you may need to go to SC twice in 6 months. You may need to change the oil at 7,000km (depends on your maintenance minder). You can choose to do 10K maintenance together, or just change the engine oil first, and come again at 10,000km for the normal maintenance - but without changing the engine oil.

Engine oil and drain plug washer is RM138.63 + 6% and oil filter is RM26.30 + 6%. You need to factor in labour costs too - around RM60/hour. All in all, around RM240 everytime you need to change your oil.

The website mentions this:

Engine oil replacement period depend on Engine Oil Monitoring indicator lamp or not over than 6 months
Oil filter replacement period depend on Engine Oil Monitoring indicator lamp or not over than 12 months

Dude, Consider to keep it with RON97 to minimize the carbon deposit on intake valve? DI engine need extra care.
In Malaysia, RON95 is euro 2 grade, and RON97 is euro4 grade, meaning RON97 is much more cleaner.
Below is some link for the reason behind.

Oh, it is not the "knocking" thing concerns or the Fuel consumption concern, is about the cleanliness of the fuel to minimize the carbon deposit on the intake valve. For "knocking" concern, if I remember correctly, the manual is recommend RON91 or above?

RON95 is euro 2 grade while RON97 is euro 4 grade, meaning RON97 is cleaner. To take good care of the DI engine, cleaner gasoline will be better to minimize the carbon deposit.
With Turbo DI engine, I will get RON97. smile.gif

For the nature of GDI engines, it will create more soot/deposits when running in lean mode (meaning : light engine loads). Also, for the slow traffic crawl and traffic jams, as the combustion and engine oil temperature are not optimal, also will produce more deposits. And this in turn causes the catalytic converter to not run in high enough temperature to oxidise those unburned fuel. So when the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) kicks in, the crap come back in again. So it is a self feeding cycle if driving in low engine loads during slow/traffic jams....you just can't help it with your type of driving situation.

Running RON97 (not because if the RON rating, but due to the slightly better than RON95 additives) or better will only help very marginally. Do intake cleaning maybe every 20,000km should help, especially when the engine has lower mileage. The deposit layer won't be too thick for the solvent to act on it. Euro4 RON97 does help keep the catalytic converters in the exhaust system in better health for the long run.

I think he is referring to this

When your headlights are in automatic mode, they will come on whenever the vehicle detects that it is dark outside. However, you can adjust the sensitivity of the light sensor by choosing one of five settings: Max (lights will come on when it is still pretty light out), High, Mid, Low, and Min (lights won’t come on until it is pretty dark out).

Irrespective of when de lites come on.. its still loads better than having a flat battery [wif your lites left on]

IMO.. Of cos u might differ..

Yupe, i'm aware i wasn't addressing your question, i was a bit carry away due to sheer amount of settings we can tweak in our HU.
I didn't test the auto headlight sensitivity, because i am comfortable with the default setting, maybe i try to change this setting to low and test it out on under bridge next morning.
