From the past 1600km experience, so far so good... the fuel consumption is quite impressing me though... what you guys think?

Welcome bryangia! Glad you found our thread helpful. Feel free to ask us anything here. I agree with you that the fuel consumption for this car is damn good - compared to the old FD2 at least - i'm averaging at 14km/l at the moment. What about you?

Are you using ECON mode to get the FC? I'm averaging 11km/L, no ECON 100% city. Heavy footed

I don't turn on ECON 100% of the time, probably around 30% of the time. 100% city, I got around 13.8km/l, based on my last 100% city fuelup. I'm now trying to see if I can get better FC in 100% city. I avoid rapid accelerations, and normally try to keep the car speed between 70-90kmh. I still do rapid starts from time to time though

still going softly with my car because haven't break through 1000km.

btw, the 2 stripes above digital meter sometimes change from green to white color but anyone knows what triggered it?

Guys anyone here installed any driving recorder for the car? Wonder if it could potentially void any warranty for any parts of the car?

Scared SC said oh electrical wires tapped... Goodbye electrical for the car or something.

Wished HM would offer us any options to install at the SC..

The stripes are your economical driving indicator. Green when ure driving economically and white when ure not.

Guys, I really do not feel any difference in driving experience when using the ECON mode. I don't even pick up any drop in acceleration power or whatever. Are we even sure the ECON mode is working?

BMW has a similar mode called Eco Pro. When I engage it, there is a significant drop in power. I have to practically floor the pedal to get a boost in power while in that mode. Totally opposite of the ECON mode.

my 2 sen on the honda Econ mode.

when you accelerate especially light throttle (on vs off).

1. the "gear" will try to upshift sooner vs Econ off.
2. the pedal response does not feel as instant or numb.. and actually feels a little hesitant to get off the line.
3. throttle response is better with econ off and more willing to "hold gear" when you accelerate, let off the throttle and accelerate again. while with econ.. once you let off the throttle u need to shove the pedal to get it going again.

econ on or off... its the way we drive that makes a difference to FC.

i on econ mode so that the aircon is not so cold in the mornings and evenings.. weekend baru off econ..

i have tried the econ modes on contis and i know where your coming from.. with your econ pro it feels like your stepping on a marshmellow.

When driving the Civic, I have to become 'normal' driver thanks to the CVT. It's just a fun car to cruise along in comfort. I become a devil in my own car.

Most of the time the wife drives the Civic (it's her car anyway) and even she doesn't notice the difference. But I guess its because we're both used to the BMW Eco Pro version which is much more retardant. But also because the Civic uses a CVT so the effects of the ECON mode on throttle response and 'gear' upshifts is very much less noticeable.

I hv de Jazz hybrid CBU which has tis Econ mode n apparently it retards ignition so u cant shoot off .. even if u want to.. all for the sake of better FC..
Result is car will feel lethargic la..
I assume de Civic runs something similar..

Mine one is around 12km/l for 100% city drive without ECON mode. For 100% highway, with 70% auto cruise at 120km/h & 30% trip with more or around the preset speed, is 19km/L.
By the way, I am using RON97 for this direct injection engine... how about you all?

I using petrol ron97 but will change to 95 after the next pump

Tis is kinda sticky point.. abt how useless is burning a higher octane fuel when a cheaper lower one suffices..
But in my experiences.. 97 gives a little better FC [ I hv experimented n it gvs me a 1 to 2% better mileage - of cos it is not worth it to fill up wif 97 for FC alone..]
Oso, l read tat de petrol companies add better 'cleaners/additive' to their more 'expensive' fuel [kinda makes sense] n for de direct injection turbo Civic especially, itll help in keeping de engine cleaner [note tat .. the 'ang-mohs' recommend a 'catch-tank' - injen's de name to help tis - but tis voids warranty la.. ]

Mine avg 9km/l...jam all the way to office and back home. distance probably 7 to 8 km. oil life sucks too...800km mileage and oil life is 8400km

hey guys, have you done the coating for your civics? I want to ask if they coat the interiors and wheels as well...and how long you have to leave your cars there.
