My car is only 1 year 1 month, mileage only 21k and the battery just gave the istop blinking (orange) and triangle exclamation warning. Went to glenmarie HQ they said they no longer give battery exchange for free and the condition is now within 1 year and within 20k mileage. All the time when I purchased this car was told that if 1st battery kaput within 3 years SC will do a one to one exchange. Totally upset and felt cheated by this Bermaz. The company did not inform any of the owners for this newly implemented memo. They claim that this is effective on feb 1st 2017. The memo is only circulating among their staff internally and some SA. As a consumer with absolute rights, I felt cheated. If this is how Bermaz dealing with their customers, this will be my last Mazda with Bermaz.

I am right here at Bermaz HQ. Paid for the battery and the SC manager gave me 15% discount. I will still insist to file a complain, I hope all owners in this thread please inform your friends or family on his issue. Making noise in this HQ will not do anything but I will need to raise in to Some consumer body , MCMC perhaps?

How much did they charge you for the battery? You can get i-stop battery for about RM500 outside.

There is speed limiter for CBU BM model? What is the cut off speed?

Honestly did not know that.

Technically, it is not really speed limiter, but rev limiter. IF you try to red line the car, it won't go into the red zone with the auto. So the top speed limited to around 210-220km/h. It is more to protect the transmission and also engine components. For our hot climate and low quality petrol, red lining the engine often puts further strain the drivetrain.

The limiter is different from the accelerator kick down switch? Because the BM love to down shift and hit redline once you really full throttle. Not a fan of it, because it spoils smooth gradual acceleration.

Speed limiter in this car is the engine rpm limiter not like other car where it limit the speed of the car, usually at 180km/h

Which means the engine rpm can reach to maximum of 6.5k before power cut off

If you are coming from CVT or 4 speed car or manual turn you have to get used to the downshift when you floor the accelerator because the gear ratio are closer now and got more gear to play with, if you want gradual acceleration try not to step the accelerator over 30% or step too fast, else the car will think you need more power hence you will feel the sudden acceleration

This car can perform close to cvt gearbox when you driving gently and comfortably and shift faster than other conventional torque converter gearbox

Kick down switch is a switch which maxes out the potential of the engine at the given time when the switch is activated. From my experience, if you're driving below 100km/h, it will go full throttle at 2nd gear. Above that will be 3rd gear and above 120km/h would be 4th gear.

But if you notice, especially if you try with transmission in manual mode, the car won't accelerate further into the red line range. It just touches it and stays there and maybe jumping a bit. If you want it to go further into the red line range, you need a tuning to increase the limiter.

Just a word of caution. If you want to play with the full throttle thing, please do it either in the express way (or a straight road with minimal cars around, maybe early morning or later at night) and stay within the 1st 2 gears. You'll reach 100km/h in around 4 seconds with a rolling start from the 1st gear. Some people may think this is slow, but since we have no professional racing experience, it is a dangerous game to play if you're fully in tune with your reaction time and also in tune with how the car response every single moment in the rev range.

Regarding your comment that the acceleration is not smooth/abrupt, you can play around with the transmission set to manual mode. You choose when to shift the gears without putting down too much on the accelerator pedal travel.

Rather strange, but I personally didn't go any further than 160km/h before due to the road and traffic condition. But i reached that speed without trying too hard...

I may give it a speed test few weeks later when i'm driving back alone on a less used express way to test this out.

you can go all the way up to 220km/h, 195km/h in PLUS highway is easy as long as there is enough straight road ahead

but drive safe though...

Hey guys, I am thinking of buying the mazda 3, so far been checking out a few dealers, price etc. I will be going for the sedan GL high spec. I have learnt that there will be a facelift. Do you think there will be a huge price increase? the revision is minimal so i don't mind getting the current version. But if there is a big price increase maybe they will reduce the price on the current version. Confused. All help appreciated.

there is no difference between 2016 and 2017 make, unless you want to sell your car in near future, so just go for the best deal you can get and of course the 5 years warranty

I heard the facelift will come in August and will be priced at 130k. The price will increase similar to what they did with mazda 6.

You can't say that they are inconsistent, they are matching the competition in the market that offers higher warranty now. Toyota did that almost 2 years ago, it is a good thing that warranty coverage is extended.

The only point of clarification will be whether this extends to current owners who bought their cars before their new warranty policy. But again, some people might complain about their "chepo" shell engine oil if service at the official service centres....
