gunmetal i guess

a lot of owners spraying black or gunmetal, we have our panel workshop that can do that for us for less than RM300, not sure if the price has increased now

join our m3 skyactiv group you will get more good offer brows.gif

Thats great. How do I join the group? Also for RM300 do they just spray the rims? or do they spray and bake the rims in the oven so that the paint stays. Previously my old rims the guy sprayed then baked it, so it was long lasting but it cost much more than RM300. Thanks

the painting process i'm not sure, according to members, they will do minor repair on the rims before spray

and so far no complain on the quality, majority of us going for gloss black or matte black

so far i got no plan to spray it yet, planning to install roll bar first brows.gif

One question, what about the warranty terms for cars bought before the implementation of the 5 year warranty policy?

Will it be extended or still remain as 3?

Cars that are registered starting from 1st February 2017 are entitled for 5years or 100,000km warranty.

This is too bad for owner register year 2016 or before. Beside that also remove the battery warranty as we told during purchase can change 1 time within the warranty.

Highly likely that none of the owners here started changing the ATF fluid.

Yes, it is considered "lifetime" fluid, because in most mature markets use the car for less than 6 years. Some after the end of their lease period of 3 or 4 years, they swap their cars. So for average for cars like these, the mileage hit should be within the 200k km mark, it is within the "lifetime" of the car.

But for our markets, most of us hold on the cars for at least twice the time mainly due to the pricing and loan term involved. So, if you want to keep your car problem free after 5 years, it is advisable to change it after 3 years, or when you reach the 80k km mark. The factory fill is fully synthetic type, so more durable and technically should last at least 100k km. But have to consider our driving condition where there is a lot of start stop traffic, so need to bring the target mileage lower to compensate for the additional wear. You can start considering it during 60k km.

But for torque converter type transmission, the best method of replacing fluid is through the "dialysis" method where the fluid is flushed out in a controlled manner using a machine which pumps in cleaning additives and then the new fluid. Takes at least an hour, usually around 2. Just the drain method will not allow the fluid stored in the torque converter to fully drain out. These "dirty" portion will eat up the additives from the new fluid fill very fast.

Launching a new model here is not as simple, more so on a brand that has lower volume than peers. CKD operations takes time to clear older parts, need time to retune the operations, some additional training involved and also another round of QC qualification from the HQ. All these take time to turnaround. Home markets aside, those markets that can launch new models quickly are those that usually import the cars or they have complete manufacturing operations on their home soil. Our CKD operations involve only a small portion of locally sourced parts.

A friend of mine who went to service his 2015 M3 last week was told will be extended automatically for 5 years..I guess to those who are in that range for 3 years gets it.
