Just bought myself an unit, hopefully the wireless coverage won't disappoint but heck it's only RM199.

Oh.... but I'm on Unifi30.... still using the stock unifi orange router which I flashed to DDWRT...

If say I upgrade to this.... any difference in performance or any benefit?

Cause seems the bottle neck is Unifi30 and not the router?

Sorry if noob question

Edit : Considering this router cause it look nice tongue.gif

On AsusWRT offcourse

If you are not regularly transferring large files between local network, then 100mbps is absolutely fine for your usage.

The router won't improve your internet speed if that's what you were hoping for laugh.gif

But it does improve the wifi signal coverage.

And if you have devices that supports the wireless ac standard, you'll enjoy faster wifi transfer speed.
...... but wifi transfer speed is not equal to internet speed ... so hehehe

Well.. I'm not expecting it to increase my speed... I'm getting just below 4mb/sec on torrent... I reckon thats as good as it gets on Unifi30....

Maybe wifi signal... hmmm digging deep to justify changing router for no apparent reason other then it looking sexy hahaha

Not really big files... just 1 torrent machine and 1 regular PC.. and 8~9 wifi devices at home... so its not gonna hit the cap anytime soon...
thankyou

Hi there,

Bro, this apps can used using 3g connection?
*
Technically yes. You need to first enable WAN access on the GUI (can be HTTP/HTTPS) and also DDNS setup unless you know the WAN IP address of the WAN router.

The ASUS Router Android app recognizes the Huawei WS880 (flashed with Xwrt-Vortex firmware) as an ASUS RT-AC68U.

This is really great! We are buying a nearly RM1K router for only RM199! rclxms.gif

Anyone tested this router with chromecast? I got the 1st generation chromecast that doesn't support dual band, guess there is no advantage to upgrade.

Anyone experienced this on Xwrt-Vortex firmware? When we toggle the on/off button for Internet connection to like get another IP range, once it says completed it is stuck there until F5 (refresh) button is pressed.

-Edited since I reached home and have a proper keyboard to type-

Looks like I finally solved the million ringgit problem that bug me since my parents moved into their new home. I had tried using all sort of solution from getting a few repeater to using powerlink and yet the slow wifi persist. I did suspect that the router didnt lived up to the expectation but there is really not much choice for a good budget router. I thought I had range problem but in reality, I had processing speed problem.

Removing one of the long range Asus RT-N14UHP and using the Huawei as main router cleared all the problem away. WiFi speed on all repeater and powerlink improved dramatically. My parents had two smart TV and loading Youtube took ages before this. Now it only took seconds. It also doesnt lag even when playing FHD, whereas it used to skip every few seconds even on HD. Im really satisfied with the purchase and considering a next one. I had the same Asus router at home but I didnt have any problem with it since I didnt had a repeater that reduced the effective bandwidth to half. Looking at the result, I must say Im very very tempted to upgrade but the design of the router suit me less. I had my Asus router hanging on the wall in the center of my house but I cant do that with the Huawei.

Im still with the stock firmware and it is pretty good.

Essential if you are getting a dynamic IP from your ISP and you need to connect back to your own network from outside/mobile, like CCTV etc. DDNS will point to your latest IP address.

With the stock firmware, I think is it possible to disable either one or both of the wifi frequency.

As for WPS, I had it disabled on the stock firmware too. I didnt noticed the light, need to check it tomorrow since the router already found a new home.

If you're on AsusWRT, disabling the WPS will not disable the WPS light. It's the same for me

Why would you want to disable 2.4GHz?

Just get it. I assure you that you will see huge improvement on WiFi coverage
Also, remember that the RM199 price won't last forever. The original price is RM399
