I'm using Astro IPTV. Can this router replace the Technicolor home gateway out of the box?
No
QUOTE(cybpsych @ Jul 13 2016, 10:51 AM)
noob question.

is this unit plug-n-play for Unifi using retail/stock firmware/software?

i.e. buy, replace existing stock router from TM, then setup for Unifi, and use?
You still need to configure VLAN before you can use it with UniFi / Maxis Fibre

For Time Fibre, no additional configuration required, just type in your username & password

Yes, my uPNP is enabled by default.

My IPv6 works perfectly.  smile.gif
You're like me then
Some users had to disable UPNP for IPV6 to work
Some users can't get their IPV6 to work at all

By the way, when you reboot your router, you will see that IPV6 may not work
Just leave it be for around 5 ~ 15 minutes. It'll work afterwards

I haven't configured my firewall yet.

Still at default security strength.

You reminded me that I have to do something about it. Thanks. biggrin.gif

Need ah? I thought there's an option there when I first booted it to use 'Unifi settings'. Of course I straight flashed Tomato so didn't test that. Will test with my 2nd unit when helping my in-laws setup la.

I think so, as I've seen some users in here mention they need to change the VLAN setting before they can connect to UniFi

Or maybe I'm seeing that in another thread. Correct me if I'm wrong

I didn't check mine. When I pop open the box, I straight away go to the emergency upgrade page to flash to AsusWRT laugh.gif

do the asus usb apps work?

Yes, I'm using download master to download torrent.

Anyone has any success accessing CFE page after flash? I can't access it anymore. Plus, I can't flash tomato or downgrade to proper version of WS880.

Just got out from sri computer.. they still have more than 30 units based on my observation.. someone already ordered 20 units.. i took 5 units for myself,  family members and mr loo as well...

Price is still RM199.. was told that they originally sold the router at about RM400 plus before this..
*
Bought one today around 1130AM... they got hella lot of stock. I think ppl no confidence in Huawei product. Most people are not aware Huawei is a big player in telecommunication sector nowadays. On the shelf still have 20 or so unit and they also got it next to the payment counter on the other end which has few stack of it.

Im going to try it today at my parents house to see it help improved the slow wifi or not. If work, then only buy another one for myself. Want to buy one for office but we are stuck with Streamyx. Not much use.

DDWRT is also not bad. Used to to it with a Dlink router back then.

Stock firmware seem good enough. Out of box already support Unifi and Maxis FTTH (need to assign VLAN manually after selecting other). Even got IPTV setting.

After flashing WRT, no more choice right? Or can switch between DDWRT/TOMATO/ASUSWRT?
