If ac86u, no different for local and oversea unit. Both are from the same manufacturer and factory in China.

About firmware, yup it is compatible. Asus is using global firmware for all unit. You can also flash to merlin.

I understand cant claim for local warranty for oversea purchase but can we sent for repair?

Hi, for 2nd hand used gadgets. You need to set a virtual China warehouse address in order to buy these items from taobao.

Due to China customs limitation. The China government is only allowed Tmall and flagship sellers to ship their items out to overseas. However, we still can use some tricks to bypass the "sensitive" items and use third party Malaysia forwarder agents to ship the restricted items out from China.

You need a third party Malaysia taobao forwarder agent.

You can later add these virtual China warehouse address into your taobao account.




Pick your virtual China address during checkout, just let the sellers ship to your virtual address. Then wait for the items arrive to your virtual address. Let the third party forwarder agents to update your item status so you can proceed to pay shipping cost and service charges to let them repack and ship to your Malaysia address.

Anybody bought asus router oversea? And got chinese gui? How to change to english? I already reset but still remain.

Just proceed clicking the buttons, once you're finished with the quick setup, you will be able to change the language

Yea, just finish the setup wizard (need some guessing work), once you able to login to admin page you can easily change to english.

Its done. I use asus apps to configure,eventually it change to english. Then login back using laptop to update firmware from asus malaysia.

Dont know, just bought 1st time this router. Take long time to arrived but yeah its cheap. Warranty only cover by him, not asus local i think. Buying oversea item got pro n con which everyone is aware when buying i guess.
