if your budget is around RM350, get this trouble free router, excellent for home use, Tp-Link Archer C7 V4 (3 year warranty) able to cover double story house if you place the router near center of the house.

If you don't mind refurbish unit (no warranty) T-Mobile Asus TM-1900/ RT-AC68U is better performance. at around RM300 including shipping from TaoBao.

both above 2 models should serve you fine.

Plus the region code is hard coded in the CFE. ASUS can at any time locked out China region units if they get into regulatory compliance issues. The ability to change region is in the firmware not CFE and the original region will be reverted once you reset to factory.

Its painful to pay the highest price compared to other countries for the AC86U. Whatever ASUS Malaysia marketing reasons are, it does not feel sensible.

TP-Link routers, not their wifi adapters, tend to exhibit various problems. ASUS, D-Link and Netgear are better options.

Happy to hear that bro. Some of their routers is really stable and good, like the Archer C7 v4, or the C3150 v2.

We should have a sticike. List of good routers and list of stable firmware versions. Would be helpful when people looking to get replacement routers. Too many discussions spread over different discussion threads. Buyers guide maybe?

Hey! What router would you guys recommend for a 3 storey terrace ? Getting unifi 30mbps soon and planning to put the router in second floor. Maybe budget 500-700 , was looking at TP-link since most people here said it's good and more value compared to asus

Looking forward for your suggestions
