I just received my ambank plat card, then i saw that the entertainer b1f1 promo is only for existing card members and also based on invitation. So basically, there is no way for me to get it for free now.

was wondering to those who use the entertainer app and the free one from ambank, is there a difference? coz now the entertainer is on promo RM80 and u get the free cheers 2017. Not sure whether I should purchase and whether its worth getting since i cant get the free one anyhow.

The paid app is VERY VERY different. Why not you install it and run the free trial so you can see if you will use it? Free trial allows you to redeem a B1F1 at one merchant. Check it out.

For me, I've used Entertainer paid app 6 times already, and "saved" RM500+. See attached screenshot. As I only paid RM75 for the app in 2016 (had year end offer), it's very very worth it.

Search this thread for my previous posts about the app and how you can use the Smiles points to rebuy used vouchers.

As I just had a baby in Jan, I couldn't go out and eat much. However, will start using more once my maternity leave is over.

yes...if you have more than one phone..can use multiple time trial version..
each phone can redeem once only..
do not sign in same account on other phone..it will automatic lock the trial version.
always create new account for each phone to use trial version.

I was thinking to use the AMB B1F1 during CNY and found out dining merchant can decide on their own the black-out period during CNY period.
This is in addition to that the B1FI will not be eligible during certain public holidays & the eve.

Does you paid Entertainer has this black-out period too?

Yes it does - it is listed in the Rules of Use.

It covers all public holidays and eves. However, CNY is the only period where the merchant has discretion to define what is "CNY period". All other public holidays are stipulated in the app itself.

You can use 3 times per merchant. BUT you will earn Smile "points" easily by sharing on FB and Twitter. These Smiles can be used to "re buy" vouchers if you run out. For example, I already have 8000+ smiles. Costs only 1000 smiles per voucher and very easy to get 1000 smiles.

Can use until 30 December 2017.

I see, thanks for the clarification, so if i purchase the app now for rm80, it will only be valid until year end? and then next year have to purchase the app again? or is it a one time lifetime purchase?

Oh i see, then its only worth buying the app in the beginning of the year since technically my validity from now will be 9 months+ only... the later i purchase the app, the shorter i can benefit from the offers. Okok, got it, will go test it out first, then i might go ahead and purchase it since i saw some places where i might use it. Thanks again for the help, really appreciate it.

I don't look at it that way. Whether the app is worth it or not depends on how much you use it as opposed to length of time. For example, last year was my husbands birthday, and 4 of us celebrated at the Steakhouse Bukit Bintang. Each steak cost about 80-100 bucks. But B1F1 for that one meal already saves 200. Similarly, I used it for a 3 hour spa session... Saved another 300.

I bought it in December 2016 on promotion which cost me 75 and allowed me to use for 2016 and 2017.

As long as your savings cover the cost of the app, it's already worth it.

that's only on the assumption that you are going to dine at these places, even if you do not have the b1f1 benefit...if you would otherwise have gone elsewhere (perhaps cheaper), but then decided to go to the steakhouse because of the b1f1, then the savings may not be really that much...and the merchant has achieved their purpose...ie pull you into their establishment....
