I recall 5+2 or 7 seater SUV's would be

Toyota Rush/Perodua Aruz is decent if you're looking for cheap transportation but don't expect too much refinement
*
Aruz is severely underpowered with Myvi engine moving 1.3 tons using ancient 4AT. To be avoided.
Rush is no longer on sale as Veloz is positioned as a SUV with 190mm ground clearance.

In fact, with 185mm clearance, Innova Zenix might have enough height for KingArthurVI to consider.

Only 3 D-segment sedans (new) here.
Mazda6, Accord, Camry.

Unless you can include C-segments then
Civic, Corolla, 408, Mazda3, BYD Seal

Or include SUVs? Whats the car usage/purpose

Camry is 3rd choice bit slightly over budget, would like to keep below 200k. Corolla is my next choice.

I want a new ride just to get around, but would prefer a sedan. Don't want suvs, don't like high cars.
*
If your ok with Corolla, suggest also test drive Civic
and Mazda3 if not already done so.

These C-segments are easier to maneuver in the city if you don't really need a bigger car. And the budget (plus maintenance) is lowered somewhere circa 150K

Teana how?

Teana still sold by the useless Tan Chong?

Anyway, do test drive your options several times see if the ride and feel suits you.

Bring your family members too, those whom you may fetch regularly.

like girls emotion, change suddenly
Just feel like a sudden change of preference.
*
Got to separate your emotions from larger expensive acquisitions/ endeavours like car, house, businesses etc that should be based on solid planning, projections and execution.

If they car is for weekend fun drive then better change as its purpose has disappeared.

Else if the car is daily drive to work for you to generate income, they toyota is one of the more reliable workhorse that will serve you well.

2020 Toyota Porte - this is something for your consideration, I find this car quite cute and functional for family use. It is basically a mini mpv, in terms of size and height think Perodua Alza but it only has 5 seats instead of 7 -- a bit more spacious not squeezing. The special trick of this car is the doors. It has one big van-like sliding power door for the passenger side, big door opening is easier to fetch old folks and grand parents, if not they tend to knock their head or fall to the seat coz muscles weak in a similar vehicle like Perodua Alza -- that's why MPV's sell so well here. On the other side is a normal 2 door setup for the driver and passenger.
*
Omg so cute! Love the dashboard mounted gear shifter.
Is this 4WD? 😘

Want something that's reliable.

For reliability, aim for a new car.

Why sedans only?
Below 100K there are only 7 new models

Local - saga, bezza, persona
Chinese - S70
Japanese - Almera, Vios, City

The most important action here is - TEST DRIVE.
Several times.

What is your current car?
If just you and mom, do you really need a C-segment SUV, if so what about these alternatives

X70 99-129K
Corolla Cross 131-142K
CX-30 132-160K
XV 150-157K
Forester 165-186K

Which one has your mom test drive? (incl CRV CX-5)

Hi all, need your recommendation. I am looking at a Mazda cx5 2.0 G High, went to test drive and have a look, seller told me there is an accident and is a minor one. Overall the car looks very perfect, all the seems and joints, although can see some color is not the same, just very very slightly. One thing I found is when i open the windshield aircond some bits and pieces of broken glass fly out.

Since I have the VIN number, I decided to use service from otofacts(dot)com/my/report/price/my/ to check the history, but the report just show: Stolen - Not Reported, and Total Loss (Structural Damage) - Not Reported
The price is 99k for 2020 model which is almost a 10k off the market price. Is it worth the hassle?
*
Major accident bro,
Walk away and share which dealer for us to blacklist

if you haul large items like long items from IKEA often, maybe you need the sedan. all specs of city has 60:40 split fold iinm. and sedan is 200mm longer than the hb

wish they still sold the base city without the level 2 assistances at ~70k. the 85k starting point really make me pengsan.

By the way, how about Proton Iriz 1.6? If I don't want to spend that much to buy a City HB?
*
If you like handling (matching Swift) and comfortable sitting.
Unlike the horrible Perodua seats.

Punch CVT though and Zero resale value.

1.3 Std43K
1.6 Exec51K
1.6 Active58K

If can raise budget 70+K, can test drive S70 with Dual Clutch Transmission handling 150hp.

Need to fork out at least 700 more for City HB V Spec, compare to Iriz 1.6 Exec.
*
If you're already tight, why pay extra 5K for bigger rims, front foglight and rear ac vent over E specs

Buy what you can afford. And allocate maintenance, running cost with increasing fuel prices

thank you for suggestion. I went to showroom and look at persona and saga. It seems the rear leg room for persona abit small compare to Saga.
What about FC ? Some said persona Fc very bad.
*
Proton FC going to be worse than Daihatsu engines. Persona unfortunately also has the terrible Punch CVT. You need to test drive (at least a few times) to see if it affects you.

Else if can ignore your friends comments, just get the Saga.

If you just need a car from point A to B, can also test drive Bezza, tolerate the horrible handling and seats a few years until income gets better and upgrade to new car, Bezza has high RV.
