Also, I always assume that:
Toyota - Comfort and reliability
Honda - Performance and style
Mazda - Somewhere in between both above

*
For retail segment,

Mazda is about the perfect driving position, its Jinba Ittai philosophy trying to make the car and driver into one. LOL
Technology is just an enabling tool towards this goal, thats why no CVT and mostly no turbo as well and worst interior space.

Honda is all about technology, their 1.5liter engines tuned to push out 120hp plus some clever engineering designs free up max interior space.

Toyota says nono, I make sure my engine last 500,000 KM so tuned for max reliability. And my customers are sedate drivers who wants good service

Mazda - driving experience
Honda - performance & space
Toyota - reliability & ownership experience

Is Bmw 2018 530 series reliable to drive and maintain? Until now German cars still not solve their reliability?
*
One indication of public perception on reliability is % depreciated for used models.

Check price now vs new in 2018 see how much new owner lost.

7 seater is not a must
Budget stretched 140+k.
Family with two toddlers.

corolla cross hybrid
x90 premium

*
A seven seater is definitely more ideal when you have two toddlers with baby car seats, strollers, who knows parents or even maid in future coming along.

Since you are familiar with Proton support, X90 may be a good choice to carefully check out, apart from
Veloz, Xpander, Innova, perhaps even Serena with discounts

Yup,

hesitated to mention about the incoming new model Zenix with Dynamic Force engine cos UMW likely to price it 150K and beyond, looking at the ludicrous pricing they made for Vios

Budget: 50K
New
Transmission:  Prefer Auto
Remarks:
good resale value in 3-5 years’ time (need to sell
spare parts readily available,
low maintenance cost,
great fuel consumption

Myvi to get 1.3L/1.5L
Axia
Saga
Persona
*
Great fuel consumption eliminates Proton.
If mostly town drives, Axia will do.
Myvi 1.5X provides more oomph for highway or regular long distance. Don't take the 1.3 lower demand when selling later.

If really need car for 3 years only, consider used cars if can gather some expertise to check carefully. No need buy new

Hey guys, i managed to checkout the proton x90 but have a weird dilemma now. Honestly, everything about it feels good except it felt so big. No test drive available yet but Ive never driven such big car before. So big im actuallly reconsidering to get veloz now because of size (cheaper also being plus point). Would like to get some advice on driving big cars. Many questions in my mind.
1) Is it easy to get used to driving big cars
2) How dificult is it to find parking?
3) Is it even good reason to choose veloz over x90 because smaller size and easier to drive at cost of comfort?
*
My friend bought a 4x4 over 5meters long. His wife nearly killed him as she needs to drive it occasionally. But after a few months, she driving it like normal car. I asked her how she adapted, she just shrugged and said need to think beforehand how to park and avoid certain areas. Not happy.

If you're not the only one going to drive the 4830mm X90, then it makes matters worse LOL.

Actually if want comfort, the lowered Alza has a better ride than the Veloz, my personal feel la. Went to UMW Sect19 PJ test drive w friend, then nearby Perodua Sentral for Alza. Went back test Veloz again. Basically 95% same ride. My friend couldn't tell the difference. Both of us agreed it is underpowered though so it is best as a regular 5 seater stationwagon.

Hi guys, i was thinking of getting proton x70 cbu 2019

- is carsome a good place to buy? I saw one was below 5k mileage, plus got warranty coverage, i cant really trust other used car dealer. I know that carsome and mytukar price will be like 6k - 7k more expensive than used car dealer
- is there any major differences between cbu and ckd gearbox, heard that both equally got their own problem
-  any other alternative for below 90k suv?

Tq
*
Many used car dealers basically killed themselves with unregulated markups after agreed selling price. However, nowdays there are more that no longer practise these nonsense and you might be able to find a good unit IF you know how to check

Carsome, Mytukar advantage is transparent costing upfront for buyers and auction system for sellers. The structured checks gives the impressions they know what faults to look for and to suppress offers to sellers. But no dealers are to be trusted so you still need to be careful.

X70 gearbox you can post in X70 thread in Car Clubs, owners there can give feedback.

By fhe way, any reason target used X70 for 90K?
New X70 < 100K,
New X50 < 90K
Ativa, Aruz..

Also SUV handling not as good as Sedan, Hatchbacks with higher FC.. Haha

Sorry if this is off topic. May I know what is the process of cancelling a car  booking? I've decided to put off the idea of getting the car due to financial constraint. Is there a possibility that my booking fee will be refunded? Thank you!
*
Need to check the process with your Sales Advisor.

Some will help, teaching you to give reasons like cannot wait liao. Then help to expedite the paperwork.

If you get good service, can give credit in the Car Club section.

By the way, good choice based on your financial situation.

*
Alza is a cheap (63K brand new) underpowered flimsy part time 7 seater full time 5 seater stationwagon with good FC 15-17km/l town/highway driving with 5 year peace of mind warranty no need worry about parts breakdown probably get back 30-40% value after 7-8 years ownership. Variant X waiting 6months plus i heard.

Cannot match Mazda3 in power, comfort & handling of course.

Civic ketam used around 90k worth it? Don't like 11th gen
*
Get better response posting in Civic 10th gen Car Club thread?

If market value, can use various car platforms to check or just call up any insurance company for quote.

Also for that specific unit, see what repairs or potential problems need to rectify add into total cost.

Whether worth for you to buy see if Ketam meets your requirements, your capability to maintain and run it and the fun factor over your current Forte.

In anycase, please be smart & don't stretch the loan to 7 or 9 years.

Hi, is alza considered underpowered for full-time 5 seater? Also, when you mentioned "flimsy", do you mean its not so safe car (like milo-tin, etc) 😝?

*
Most P2 cars are milo tins
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5380952

They do have lots of safety systems to prevent an accident though and if you drive within speed limits, it has adequate power for most owners.

Hey all smile.gif ,

Are buying the cheap cars like mudah/facebook worth it? I'm talking about those 3k-5k cars wira, waja, perdana, gen2.
If i dont mind the little scratches or small dent and i get an inspection done from mechanic sayings its okay enough to drive around (no dying gearbox or something). What else should i be worried about?

I could potentially save up for a few months and get used saga or something in better condition. But im not going to be here long so im really no keen on waiting. I want a cheap car to get me here and there and short trips around 2hrs drive away.

p.s i dont mind having buying the car and leaving it to my friend to later sell it off, so no need to offer alternatives like renting etc
*
Lets say you wanna buy a laptop.
The screen sometimes don't appear or certain keys on the keyboard not working..

Will you still buy? CPU and memory still function..

2. Budget - < RM55k
5. Transmission - Auto
7. Type - Sedan
my partner's family to get their 2nd car as a kampung drive car in Segamat, once every month to KL,Genting

tested are
City 2018(my own car),
Bezza 2017 (my family car),
Saga 2014 (partner's family car).

The first choice
Bezza 40k, warranty and maintenance for 5 years

2nd choice
2nd hand B Segment car(50k)
2015+ (Vios, City), more comfortable, feel "safer"
But almost 8 years old.

2nd hand Almera is selling alot cheaper than City, Vios.

*
I usually promote new. Especially for those not familiar with cars or buying for others eg siblings, outstation parents etc.
Basically as you mention above for ease of mind.
Unless you get a very good deal from relative or new owner is very familair with car maintenance.

In your case above, if usage in Segamat is low, is there an option to pass them your own 2018 City and you get a new car for yourself? If well maintained should last another 10+ years instead of getting an unknown 2015 Vios, Almera etc.

Alternatively, the new vehicles below are better options than a Bezza for your 55K budget

A. Persona (more stable and safer for outstation runs)
B. Myvi (hatchback more versatile if sedan better handling not needed)
C. Saga which now comes with Aisin (Toyota) 4AT instead of Hyundai's

hi guys, planned to buy a second hand myvi, wanna ask if there alot of diff in terms of power and specifications, features btw 1.3 and 1.5?
*
Depends on how you drive.

Sedate driving, slow acceleration with single driver can hardly tell the difference below highway speed.

Put 4 adults and one driver try to accelerate for overtaking or slight uphill then the extra 16-17 Nm of torque really helps.

For accessories, can compare previous car reviews.

*
Bro, your knowledge in cars probably higher than most of us here. Hope you get useful info from Forte forums.

My only feedback is whether you have concerns about maintaining two old cars. Back during my younger days, I would try to keep one car below 10 years old if the other is beyond 10. So that can alternately sell off as maintenance cost rises.

ok bro, if like this i think will be going for 1.5 H spec, but may I know how many % down payment can we decide to pay (i.e. if choose to pay 30% D.P) can?
*
Yup. Am not bank loan officer but minimum DP depends on yr credit rating. Eg if you have consistently paid any loan on time, then the lower DP accepted. More DP usually not a problem.

The bank will however try to make you take MAX loan period eg 9 years cos they want to earn MAX interest. Try to reduce the duration, lowest my kid ever got was 36 months.
